The project management product we were looking for
We looked at and tested several project management options and had used several in the past. Hive was never on our radar and unfortunately isn't as well known, but we discovered it through the WeWork employee portal and gave it a try. The set up was simple, it offered flexibility in terms of how you view and sort projects. It also allowed us to add external users without paying for a seat. This was extremely important because we want our clients to have access to our project boards, but we don't need full functionality for them. While it wasn't available when we first started using it, the addition of time tracking was a huge bonus for us as an agency, and Hive continues to impress us by adding additional features and functionality. When it comes to support, they are extremely responsive and in the rare times we have had to utilize support, issues have been resolved to satusfaction.
CONSI wish there was a native integration with HubSpot, but we're able to get around that with Zapier.
Reason for choosing Hive
Part of the reason was that they offered a discount to companies that worked at a WeWork location, but it was also easy to set up and use during the trial period.
Reasons for switching to Hive
Asana did not offer pricing for less than 5 users and at the time, we only needed 2-3. We needed the additional functionality that came with the paid version but couldn't justify paying for seats that were going to go unused for an undetermined amount of time.

Hive Review - Fight CRC
The email integration and being able to create templates that can be re-used - helpful when adding sponsorship details.
CONSAt times it runs a little slow with loading IM's and documents. At times, editing options are not av when you are proofing/editing a document in the proof section of a card.
Reasons for switching to Hive
We were looking for a better platform that fit the needs of the organization. As a virtual team, we needed a platform that provided better communication with our programs.

Brilliant project management tool with enhanced collaboration
Really useful tools at a very reasonable price. Enhances collaboration and comms across the organisation.
PROSLove the way this is set up with varied views. Teams view is the most useful for me - I love that you can track actions as they pass between teams. Bonus is that the Gantt does allow a great overview.
CONSNot great for time tracking and then getting an overview of your time for the day or week over all projects.

Good for Small, Remote Teams
Overall, Hive has been a good system for our team to work effectively. It gets the job done, although not always as simply as other tools.
PROSThe native time-tracking feature was one of the biggest reasons our team chose Hive as its primary project management tool. With a team as spread out as ours geographically, Hive has made it easier to collaborate and execute projects. Hive is always looking to improve, and we appreciate that they ask for feedback and implement it.
CONSHive has limitations in terms of its reporting and integrations. We would love to be able to build our CRM right in Hive to simplify our sales cycle work and time tracking, but we must still use a third-party at this point. Additionally, automations in Zapier and integrations with third-party apps are still not as robust as with other popular project management systems such as Asana.
Reason for choosing Hive
Time tracking.
Reasons for switching to Hive
Trello did not have a time-tracking feature.

Thank you Hive for making our business run seamlessly!
Hive has made communication between our company's team easy. Now, we don't have to constantly call each other, have follow-up meetings, and walk into each other's offices. We can simply log into Hive and see who is doing what. We know when things are due and what needs to be done next. Because of Hive communication is easy so we can focus on getting jobs done for clients and getting them done on time.
PROSHive is ridiculously user friendly. I like most how our team can collaborate on different tasks and we all know who is doing what and when. We also know when everything is due and what is to be done next. It makes communication and completing tasks practically effortless. Now we can focus less on the lists and to-do's because of Hive; now, we have more time to focus on actually completing the tasks themselves. Because of Hive, we can get jobs completed for customers on time. I also really like the time clock feature, where we can log our hours for different tasks and clients. Plus, anytime I have questions or troubles, the Hive customer support team is right there, ready to help. I can't rave about Hive enough.
CONSI honestly have nothing that I least like about this software. It's an amazing product that myself and our company uses every day.
Reason for choosing Hive
While I enjoy Google and Hubspot for lots of things, it isn't as seamless and user friendly as Hive for small business needs. I also feel the Hive customer support is more available and ready to help whenever I need them.

Communication, Deadlines and Task assignments
It's a useful tool for keeping track of everything you have to do. A fantastic platform that prioritizes its users by offering low-code alternatives for constructing automated forms and other labor-saving features. More people will use the software, and it will be more adaptable.
PROSIt was a helpful resource for organizing our work. The platform's emphasis on its users contributes to its widespread popularity and adaptability. Low-code form and automation possibilities on a fantastic platform for streamlining our operations. However, reporting at the corporate level has received scant consideration.
CONSThere's room for improvement in the price system. For instance, regardless of the size of your team, you're limited to 500 automations, regardless of how many seats you buy. The gap between one level of service and the next is fairly wide, making the decision to upgrade a major one.
Reasons for switching to Hive
We were able to better coordinate our efforts thanks to this. Task management challenges might arise when team members are spread out geographically and/or have inconsistent availability.

Most softwares don't accommodate individual users, but Hive does!
CONSNo, Hive is very easy to use and has helped me organize my business very well.
Reason for choosing Hive

Hive is a fantastic team project management tool
Hive is an excellent piece of project management software for groups whose members come from different industries or departments and don't use the same methodologies. Due to its adaptability and user-specific perspectives, it is well-suited to recording a wide range of information pertaining to teams and their projects.
PROSHive is revolutionary computer program. I am really impressed by what the development team has accomplished with this program: The learning curve is minimal, it offers beautiful Gantt and Kanban views, instant messaging for collaboration, the ability to add comments to tasks and projects, and a fantastic focus mode.
CONSThere are only a few functions I've seen in other programs that I wish this one had: The ability to specify task progress percentages, partially conceal Kanban columns, and set rules for each column.
Reasons for switching to Hive
Because using Hive, we're able to see the big picture of our projects and keep things organized for more efficient activity execution, both of which have boosted our company's productivity.

Overall good, can tell quirks are getting worked out as the product grows and evolves.
Overall it has been good. We have watched the program evolve and have definitely noticed improvements in ease of use and functionality. Several questions/ functional issues that I have had and expressed through surveys and chats have been modified/corrected, so it's good to see that the company is actually paying attention to how people are using it.
PROS-Multiple methods of tracking and organizing projects. -Easy for multiple people to see what needs to be done on a project -timelines make is easy to see where a project is going -chats make it easy to keep shared notes available to everybody -The time tracking feature is a nice addition. We are still getting the hang of using it effectively, but I think it is a good addition.
CONS-Definitely don't like the new blue expansion boxes in the Gnatt view. Too easy to rename/delete something -Can't see my notes on Hive mobile. -Wish the green "complete" mark bubbles could change color depending on what the status of an item is. -I don't understand why the subactions of a phase don't stay condensed/expanded as I left them, instead of randomly expanding/condensing upon close & reopen of a project. -Wish there was an option of deleting all the subactions when a phase is deleted, instead of having them appear in a different phase then have to delete each one manually, individually. -I'm not sure if I'm missing an option, or if there is a bug, but it seems like dependencies don't always make the things they are attached to, move together. Maybe I just need a more through explanation of how the feature works.

A Great Tool For An Old Dog Who's Still Learning New Tricks
All jobs are run through Hive so we solve all our team productivity, scheduling and asset sharing (not final assets but briefs, notes, schedules, background documents, comps, etc) through the tool. We do not currently use the tool for client interaction, sharing or as an approval mechanism although we would like to.
PROSI very much like the ablility to integrate IM, email and the productivity capabilities into one tool. It's a fantastic way to keep a 360-degree record of every job.
CONSI do find that there is a huge learning curve for someone like me. I've been in this business for a long time but have always relied on others in supporting roles like traffic and production. Working for a small company where I am now responsible for everything from strategy to implementation and project management is a big challenge in and of itself. But learning the software on top of that does take time. It's not necessarily intuitive for someone like me that hasn't used other productivity software. Finding help and instructional videos to help me learn the basics and progress is somewhat difficult. I find myself spending lots of time sifting through the blog, doing Google and YouTube searches and reaching out through he tool's chat capability (often times it takes several hours to get a response). I wish there was a channel with all the videos that were well organized into a series of tutorials that would get you up and running quickly. I do a lot of trial and error and "learn by doing" on the platform. Again, because I'm a newbie, I suspect that would be the same no matter which tool I was using and probably isn't an issue for my younger, software native, brethren.

The appropriate collaborative option for managing various types of projects.
Hive helped us plan our projects more accurately and generate executable work plans that allowed us to follow the implementation stages and adjust tasks more flexibly. I strongly urge everyone to use it and take advantage of its collaborative and remote working features. Support is quick to respond and address difficulties when we have needed it.
PROSHive is more user-friendly, and one of the easiest project management platforms to set up and use, all for a low monthly fee. We were able to include customers and stakeholders on the same subscription, which helped us to accurately collect their opinion, especially in the planning stages and development of work schedules. In summary, it is a powerful collaborative tool that keeps everyone informed of project developments and assigns roles fairly, ensuring that all participants contribute according to their expertise.
CONSHive is ideal for a wide range of projects and comes at a very reasonable price. It is simple and flexible enough to manage all stages of the project life cycle.

Hive Taken to the next level
Hive has been a great help managing sales orders, manufacturing processes, quality inspections right down to shipments. It provides MFT with a live overview of all the various projects running simultaneously by assigning travelers, tasks, additional notes, check off lists all on a daily basis.
PROSKnow Hive is a Project Management tool MFT has taken it to the next level. We use Hive to following the manufacturing process from start to finish. As the Quality Manager, I use Hive to track scheduled fabrication on a daily basis. As orders are generated, the fabrication process is tracked throughout the build, to completion. Quality inspections are reported, and documented, then uploaded results so the team can review results. At this point, the jobs are tagged as complete and moved to the next step which is packing and shipping.
CONSAs sales orders are generated, they are inputted into Hive along with all applicable documents, PO#, drawings, travelers and additional notes is needed. Hive use to be able to open a Autocad file or Solidworks file, but now, the drawing file has to be downloaded then opened. This is an extra step we didnt have to do in the past. The recent update eliminated the ability to open these files from Hive.

Hive Keeps Us Organized
Very satisfied and very positive! If you need a project management tool I would 100% recommend Hive. If you have a management tool and are also using a chat app like google hangouts or Slack I'd make the switch to house it all in one place.
PROSBesides the obvious project management features that Hive excels at and that our team uses daily, the biggest gamechanger (and one I didn't expect when we launched Hive to be so impactful) is the chat function. For companies or groups who employ other apps like Slack, Hive offers a more streamlined place to hold all of your conversations in the same platform you manage and keep track of your work. It's been a huge boost for our team to have group and individual chats.
CONSHive is still making changes and updates to its platform. This is typically a benefit as we appreciate working with a platform that is always seeking to optimize and improve. However there has been a few bugs due to updates that have limited access into the platform for a small amount of time (less than an hour). The issue is usually resolved quickly but it does set us back if and when it happens.
Vendor Response
Thanks for your great review, Nate! We're happy to hear you enjoy using Hive. We are always working to improve the platform and launch new features with minimal impact on our users. Your feedback is appreciated and will be passed along to the product team. Thanks for being a part of the Hive family!

After a learning curve, Hive is a strong for smaller organizations
Overall I enjoy using Hive. It is a simple software that serves every real need that I have. It could have more bells and whistles, but those aren't essential to operation, so I can't complain.
PROSHive seems to work best for organizations under 100 employees. It's cross collaborative and does a good job keeping you informed of upcoming due dates for tasks. The messaging service is also very useful and easy to understand, it's barebones but it gets the job done.
CONSThere is a pretty big learning curve for the first couple weeks of use, particularly with assigning tasks and managing projects. It's not the most intuitive software, but once you learn how to use it, it gets substantially easier to use. The process for creating a repeated tasked is a little tedious.

A Great Project Management Tool!
It's been great working with Hive! My team and I use this application every day and I've found it really helpful for project management, which is one of my day to day tasks. I was responsible for finding a PM tool when I joined the team—and I'm so grateful that I found Hive!
PROSIn the past, I've used Asana for project management and Slack for messaging. Hive is the best of both worlds! I also prefer the layouts in Hive to any PM tools I've seen. Status view, calendar, Gantt chart and table view are all really helpful.
CONSTags and dependencies can be developed a bit more. Also, notifications are often messy. Would love an inbox for notifications rather than a popup in the top right corner and have the ability to mark certain tasks as read or unread.

It is worth a try.
For basic or complex project management it is robust enough in terms of tools and flexibility. It has many functions and the established tasks are accomplished in shorter time frames.
PROSIt is easy to access as it is compatible with a variety of operating systems. When I start new projects, I can keep track of the ongoing ones. My favorite aspects are the division of projects by phases, the customizable timeline, being able to budget/schedule, and set a defined framework. The labels and colors help me individualize and highlight project phases for a better overview and control.
CONS*Using the mobile version, I see that it limits the functionality and potential of Hive. *Also there should be clearer tutorials for the initial setup. ...However, once it is all set up, it is very nice to work on projects, but it could save headaches at the beginning.

Great software at a competitive price
Our team does not have a project manager, so we needed a tool that would streamline our project processes and enable each team member to PM their own projects. Hive allowed us to get projects spun up faster and has increased our cross-functional team collaboration.
PROSThere are so many features that I love about Hive. My favorite is that you can tailor each project view to what works best. The ability to provide reviews in app and establish approval flows is awesome. Additionally, the template design is robust and allows you to quickly form a project plan.
CONSI would like a better alert system and the ability to leave alerts unread - once you read them, they disappear from the main notification tab. I would like more high-level reporting that we can bubble up for executive review.
Reason for choosing Hive
We chose Hive because of the ease of use, customizable features, and truly competitive pricing. The other project management tools required a lot of compromise and were way more expensive.

Comprehensive Collaboration Feature Set
Hive brings our entire team into one collaborative workspace, allowing us to replace most emails with chat & task management. Samepage.io is also worth reviewing - haven't tried it but seems to also have a strong feature set at a similar or lower price, and includes video chat.
PROS* Ability to view work by project, but team members all in one view, and then filter tasks to everything assigned to me across multiple projects * Chat * Responsiveness of customer service team via in app Intercom
CONS* Threaded chat would be nice. This was recently added to Slack, but Workplace by Facebook does it even better * Filter out actions that have not hit their start date yet, AND tasks that have an unmet dependency. Goal is to focus attention toward work which can be done now, and minimize extra human manual filtering. * Needs FILTER BY DATE COMPLETED: We're most interested in seeing this available on the "My team" view, but could also make sense elsewhere. While we can filter status view by assignees, projects and status complete, just need this additional ability * Should be a way to AUTOMATICALLY MOVE URGENT ACTIONS TO TOP: Automatically sort tasks marked "urgent" to top of each respective status list when "Sort Type" "Sort by Priority" has been selected in the project navigator so users don't have to hunt them down and pull them up.

Great tool for workflow/project management
We use Hive as our primary workflow management tools (for the client account I'm currently working with) - it helps us track ongoing projects for all the members of the team with real time updates on the progress. It becomes quite efficient to track and manage deadlines.
PROSIt lets you create subtasks within each task head that allows for better tracking of the progress on the project and also makes it more streamlined. This makes it super to easy to manage your ongoing projects and deadlines. I can just add a comment at the end of each day under the respective project heads that allows my team team/ manager to stay updated on the status of the project without the need for constant follow ups.
CONSI usually have multiple projects lined up sequentially one after the other each with an independent start/end date. However, if there is a delay on one project for any reason - each of the following projec dates need to be edited and moved individually which can be quite frustrating. Would really appreciate there being an option to move all the project deadlines in one go.

It is a great tool
Events are gathered in HDFS by flume and needs to be processed into parquet files for fast querying. The input data contains variable attributes in the json payload as each customer could define custom attributes. It is part of the ETL pipeline, where hive jobs read json data and generates parquet files that would be queried using impala/spark. Using views, each customer queries only the relevant data
PROSThe syntax of hive! Its almost SQL so its easy to use. External tables, partitions, buckets, UDFs all the features I like to use with hive. ORC data format occupying lesser space and retrieving the data much faster. The Hive is intended to simplify your experience with Hadoop and allows developers and business analyst apply their SQL knowledge to query data, build reports, build etl etc. To be able to run map reduce jobs using json parsing and generate dynamic partitions in parquet file format.
CONSHive is comparatively slower than its competitors. Its easy to use but that comes with the cost of processing, If you are using it just for batch processing then hive is well and fine. It also does not have as rich of a scripting language.

Good for Workflow Basics
Overall, Hive has been a great addition to the company. It feels scalable and the easy of use is nice. I am still exploring features such as Time Tracking as I work towards configuring the software to account for more of our workflow. Customer service has been pleasant to deal with and they are working towards addressing some of the logic flaws in their design. Hopefully within a couple of months, we'll have the tool where we need it.
PROSOrganizing and structuring recurring assignments for a team of writers who produce over 1,000 articles per month can be challenging. Hive definitely helps keep things flowing. My writers love how clear and concise their workload is presented each day. The ability to change and insert new assignments or move them around is also great.
CONSThe reporting and accountability factors are lacking a little in Hive. There is some bad logic in their recurring actions that prevent us from being able to generate accurate productivity reports. They are currently working towards addressing this issue, but as it stands if you need strong, reliable reporting and also need recurring assignments, then Hive may not be the tool for you... yet.
