Excellent Software
My experience with this software was excellent. I had used a basic Sage Accounting software for years and before Sage bought this particular accounting software, it was Peachtree. I loved it.
PROSReporting is excellent. User friendly. Ease of teaching employees. online forums are spot on for good information. Immediate help via chat or calling with more difficult issues. I love that they can help by driving my computer when I could not figure out an issue. They take fixes seriously for the next update. Very professional looking invoicing and reporting and very easy to get exactly what you need without a bunch of drop downs and reconfiguring of the crystal reports.
CONSThere is actually nothing I dislike about this software. It is by far my favorite accounting software.

Big Bang for Small Bucks
My overall experience with Sage 100 Contractor has been very good. We've used it almost 4 years and we're still very happy that we selected it.
PROSSage 100 Contractor is easy to use and quite intuitive. No one on my staff has struggled to learn it. For the price, I believe it is by far the best solution for my company. I'm generally happy with the built-in reports.
CONSI would like for the built-in reports to be easier to modify. It's something we struggle with internally. We paid a 3rd party to develop some custom reports for us. However, when Sage has updates it sometimes causes the custom reports to crash. This is highly frustrating.
Reason for choosing Sage 100 Contractor
We purchased Sage 100 Contractor because it offered the most important features we needed at the most reasonable price.
Reasons for switching to Sage 100 Contractor
We switched products because we needed better job cost detail and reporting, especially for labor.

Wouldn't Recommend for a Specialty Contractor
We use Sage 100 for all of our accounting/payroll/purchasing/subcontracting and project management.
PROSI've been using the software for seventeen years --- drill down works great --- generally intuitive to use. Can teach others to use in a short time.
CONSReports are needing serious work that Sage just won't change, Some work arounds that we implemented when we first started using the product are STILL required seventeen years later. There are also STILL issues within the program that Sage just can't fix. Have had to hire third party consultants to help with some issues and reports.
Reason for choosing Sage 100 Contractor
Seventeen years ago we were just getting started. Price/Functionality were a huge consideration. To say we've grown out of it is not a fair statement because we are still using the program.

Simple and Dated, but Functional and Serves it's Purpose
I like that the software is rather reliable, in regard to the Sage suite. We also use Sage 300 CRE quite often and nearly never have issues with Sage 100, which isn't the case with Sage 300.
CONSFrom a security standpoint, I dislike the process of creating users. Once you sign in as an admin, you can view all credentials in clear text.

Quick Easy Construction Accounting
We upgraded from an antiquated program called Great Plains we had used for 25 years, there was no way to integrate or move our data to Sage. The process to get started was fairly easy, it was just a matter of reentering all our payable, receivable and setting up our GL. Once we got trained on it we found ways to streamline our work load.
CONSThe thing I liked the least was setting up my GL, they gave me way too many accounts and after entering them all, I discovered that I needed to delete half of them, they did not work for our business.
Reason for choosing Sage 100 Contractor
Ease of entry and the program was 1/4 the cost from Microsoft Dynamics
Reasons for switching to Sage 100 Contractor
Our system was outdated and our GL got corrupted

Sage 100 Contractor - Honest Feedback
It covers the basics of what we need, but really has not raised the level of service we are providing through technology. Sage 100 seems to have a good base, but needs a lot of development to make it standout.
PROSWe liked the fact that Sage 100 has Accounting, Service (work order management), and New Construction (Job management) in one package. Our goal was to make sure all programs are seamlessly communicating by having the same platform. None of these products really standout as special, but have the basic functions.
CONSBasic functions in Accounting were set up strange and go against GAPP principles. Payroll is cumbersome to manage and Sage does not have a really good field time capture solution. SSO is basic and inconsistent. Basic navigation to look up customers and manage service contracts are not streamlined. It takes to many steps to access information and no easy wildcard "look up" functions.
Reason for choosing Sage 100 Contractor
The ablity to have all three components of our business in one platform.

Good Software for the price
I came in right after they had gone live with Sage, I see things that should have been done differently, but now it's too late.
PROSI do like that you have more lock down control than you do with Quickbooks. I also like that there are several ways to get to something.
CONSThe reports need serious improvement, and that you can't have more than one address for a vendor. I also don't like that the attachments link can be broken so easily. We got a new server and moved everything over, but it broke the links to the attachment data. Also, we purchased Sage because we were told Procore would link to everything, well, here we are 2 years later and we still cannot push invoices from Procore to Sage 100. The ability to correct some issues are difficult if not impossible.
Reasons for switching to Sage 100 Contractor
For better control and the ability to link with Procore

Sage Keeps Our Accounting Running Smooth
Sage helps us keep better track of the jobs we have in process. We are able to provide reports and invoices to our customers.
PROSI like how the software is integrated for use in receivables and payables.
CONSThe Estimating Software is not being used by us because it doesn't integrate with how we do our bids.
Reason for choosing Sage 100 Contractor
At the time, QuickBooks was not as fully functional as Sage. Sage had more options.

New SAGE 100 user review (General Contractor)
SAGE 100 has been a great tool for us as a GC operation. It gives us lots of ways to manage job costs including those associated with uninsured subcontractors. Once training was completed (albeit remotely), our personnel found that the software was easy to use and navigate.
CONSTransition and rollout of SAGE 100 Contractor took much longer than expected but this was not well-communicated by team that sold us the software. Transition team was remote but effective - they assumed we had extensive accounting knowledge when, in fact, the sole operator of SAGE 100 in our office is a part-time bookkeeper, not an accountant. Payroll calculations are rarely correct (we use an outside Payroll processor) even though tax tables are up-to-date.
Reasons for switching to Sage 100 Contractor
We made this change because Quickbooks online does not job cost. There are very few software packages that DO track and report job costs and our GC had prior experience with SAGE products (Timberline).

Overall a very good software package. Very robust and is very good to tie things together.
We moved from Quickbooks to Sage 100 Contractor. The job reporting, job costing, and percentage of completion accounting was key to our move.
PROSJob data, inventory and vendor data are all tied together so you can run job cost reports and drill into the data easily.
CONSAt the moment - limited abilities to push/pull data through API's. Payroll works well - but the one timekeeping system that has API's into Sage 100 Contractor did not work for us.

Sage Review from Ft. Myers
This product keeps daily track of so many aspects of running a business and is very structured in keeping you and your business concerns organized. I completely depend on this for ALL of our accounting and project needs. Again, I can not say enough about the customer service.
PROSThis software is very detailed and will give you the information you need and depend on for daily use. We use only this product for all of our construction accounting /project needs. The reports it creates gives you the information needed per project, to see in daily figures what that project looks like from many aspects. You can also create specific reports if needed, but I have never needed to do that. They have GREAT customer service. They will log in with you and see what you have going on or what you're trying to do and will give you whatever help you need. I completely depend on this product.
CONSSince this product is so detailed, some of the steps to "fix" something can be confusing and will have many steps to undo. Sometimes there can be more than one way to redo something and I get myself confused as to which action to take, but I know that customer service is completely dependable and they are only a call away to help.
Reason for choosing Sage 100 Contractor
My boss went to a show regarding construction software and knew exactly what he was looking for and wanted it to be found in one product. He said Sage (previously Master Builder) was the only software that had everything he needed with the purchase of one product, not multiple products to get what he wanted.

I have used Sage 100 Contractor in one version or another since 2004 through my employment with a former Corian countertop fabricator and my association with Suitable Solutions ([SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN]). I love it! I believe it is an extremely workable program for contractors.
PROSI work for a commercial roofing contractor. I think the project management system had the most impact, because non-accounting employees have access to it and they learn what it takes to keep a job moving forward.
CONSThis is not so much something that I "like least" about Sage, but the hardest part for me was getting others in the company to realize that I did not have to be the person to do EVERYTHING. They were capable of entering purchase orders.....they were capable of entering a change order.....they were capable of running a report. It has taken a couple years (we went live in 2017) for other staff to buy into the program. It is now going well.
Reason for choosing Sage 100 Contractor
I recommended Sage 100 Contractor to Merit Contracting's controller at the time. I do not know what other systems she researched. I believe she chose Sage because of my previous experience with it.
Reasons for switching to Sage 100 Contractor
Maxwell was discontinuing its support of its Management Suite and moving to a different platform. Since I had previous experience with Sage 100 Contractor, it made more sense to switch to Sage instead of a brand new program.

Overall I like the software and look forward to updates and better reporting and billing systems.
PROSSoftware is basically user friendly. I like how System Menu is set up and payroll is very functional.
CONSReports in this software are the worst part of it. It needs to be updated and make it easier to build and customize reports to suit company use. Also need to have an easier T&M workup system and reports.

Good software but would like to make some changes
We use Sage for billing out contract for long term electrical work projects and for quick electrical repairs. I personally do not have much to compare it to as the only other system I have used it Sage 50.
PROSI like how we can use this software for both residential one time work orders and jobs that last consecutive months.
CONSI dislike that when you search for a part you cannot search it by a key word in the name of the part. For example if part is named 4' risers yellow, I can only find the item by searching "4", I cannot find it by searching "risers". Alerts sometime seem to not work. I know my co workers mentioned that to me and since I have been shy of using them.

job cost reports, ease of reviewing subcontracts with change orders and entering sub invoices against the subcontract, having the certificates screen and getting the warning when you enter payables and set up to print checks
