Contemporary PIM That Makes Sales Enablement Easier, But Can Be a Bit Complicated to Set Up

As the Sales Director of a cyber security software company, we needed a single source of truth for product data, use cases and sales collateral. RFP responses, presentations, and the website all had inconsistent messaging. Our business has been running on the Ergonode PIM for 6 months now. It's also done a great job of consolidating our major product stories and technologies, so sales has confidence they are working with the latest-and-greatest approved information. Setup and modeling was more difficult than we predicted but the end result is a governed system that scales with us.

Pros:

Here's the most valuable part of it:that it would give me very high level control over every customer-facing item. And with product capability or value proposition updates made in Ergonode, this feeds through into the integrated sales enablement tools and website modules, so you’ll avoid version control hell. User permissions are great, letting marketing control the master content and our sales engineers able to build bespoke on brand technical sheets without having permission to edit. API first design is a big pro for a tech company like ours, it integrates nicely with your CRM (we use Salesforce) and DAM library which means the sales team no longer has to go hunting around their emails and file shares.

Cons:

Setting up the first time requires a big design and architectural front-load. It’s not a system that you can just throw data into and instantly get going with. Creating the taxonomy as well as the relationships at attribute level to effectively model our software suites and modules started consuming dedicated time from both product and tech. While the underlying system is robust, we thought that the built-in analytics for tracking how individual content performs in the sales cycle was somewhat simplistic. We enhance via 3rd party BI tools. Finally, since it’s still an expanding platform, some niche third-party integrations for proposal automation we were looking to leverage didn’t exist out of the box; they required custom API work.

Value for money Ergonode Budget-friendly options with robust features for a growing team. The platform is user-friendly, and entry process was easy with quick customer support. Product data management is organized with filters, versioning and structured catalogs. Integrations with Shopify and other eCommerce platforms maintain sales channels consistent, and in-built asset management organizes product images and files. It’s easy to work with teams in roles and powerful permissions.

Cons:

A few more features or options with moderate to advanced reporting and customization would be better. First time setup can have a slight weight specially for extremely small teams.

Powerful and User-Friendly PIM for Growing Businesses

I use Ergonode PIM every day for 6-12 months and it has been really useful to have better managing of our product data! It's easy, robust and dependable, servicing everything from product catalogs to digital assets. It integrates with leading eCommerce platforms for effortless sales operations and has team collaboration and content management capabilities that save you time and prevent mistakes. Ergonode is, on the whole, recommended as a PIM system to growing brands that are looking into how to centralize product information and how they can boost efficiency plus support various online sales channels.

Pros:

Ergonode $1300/month/user ($15,600/year) Ergonode is one of the most cost-effective PIM solutions with a great return-on-investment for small and medium sized product teams. The support from the customer side was fast and good, Strix helped us to set up the platform. Its user-friendly design and easily navigable menu make it a cinch for first-time users to hit the ground running. Data organization is excellent, too, with filtering options as well as version control and custom categories to help keep a big catalog in order. There are integrations with Adobe Commerce, Presta Shop and Shopware for hassle-free eCommerce updates and streamlined sales operations. The platform is multi-user and role based, making teamwork easy, and centralized product images/ files / assets prevent duplication and mistakes.

Cons:

Some more advanced reporting features could offer greater customization. The initial setup costs can high for very small teams, even if most of that cost is written off by the features it offers. Also, the API documentation could have been a little bit more detailed for multi-layer integration.

User-Friendly PIM That Improved Our Product Data Workflow

We use Ergonode PIM for the digital transformation of our centralized product data management process which feeds our Adobe Commerce store and one more sales channel. Prior to this, spreadsheets caused inconsistent data and delays to go live with new products. Our team improved data consistency and decreased repetitive manual tasks since implemented. We had to plan the set up especially for the attributes structure but the system has helped us organize our daily workflow in a better way.

Pros:

The design is easy to understand and convenient to utilize. At minimal oversight, our merchandising work began in the system very quickly. The utilization of bulk editing equipment and structured attributes led to approximately 40% less manual data entry. Through this integration configuration, product updates began to sync directly to our store quicker. With this, we reduced our average publishing time from days to under 24 hours for regular updates. The integration with Adobe Commerce saved time by minimizing manual imports and reduced IT dependency for daily updates. The live training sessions were very helpful and practical that assisted our team with an early understanding of attribute set up and workflows. We received quick and clear directions from support when we had configuration questions.

Cons:

Creating a structured attribute model for complex products with many variants involved a learning curve. It can take a while to fully understand how to optimize more advanced configurations. As the client had been using spreadsheets prior to implementing PIM, product data needed to be cleaned up, which extended the setup period.

Clean Interface, Outstanding Support, and Powerful Data Governance with Some AI Setup Effort

Our base data trust issue is being solved by Ergonode PIM. As an analytics manager, I'm only as good as the data that underlies. Prior to using Ergonode our product data was a mess, we couldn’t rely on the reports and the BI integration seemed flawed. Ergonode is now a single source of truth. The payoff is as clear a bell — we’ve eliminated the loop of manually slaking our data thirst. We have confidence that all of our numbers in Sage X3 for financials are timely and actual, so is our sales analytics we use now from Dynamics 365, seen by the whole leadership team. The automation from AI has saved my team hundreds of hours and allowed us to do some real analysis, some real insight as opposed to just cleaning data. That has resulted in their taking more forward-looking and strategic business decisions.

• Stupidity: This is not a complex PIM, but the interface is very clean and well organized. Our other product managers were able to get to speed really quickly and that was so important for adoption at scale and the quality of their data. • Support: Support of the team is outstanding. They are not just reactive, they are proactive and have a great understanding of their product. They have been an incredibly helpful partner, particularly when we recently integrated with Sage X3 and Dynamics 365.Data Governance The strong validation rules, workflow application and permission controls have bestowed us with absolute power over our productive product data integrity. • API & Integrations: The modern, well documented API made syncing with our complex ESP landscape an easy and reliable task.

Cons:

Getting the advanced AI features' initial setup just right with these kinds of suggestions didn't happen on snap—we did need to tune up and train our internal conversion engines a little more than we had anticipated in order to get things perfectly aligned with our specific product taxonomy. It's a very strong one, but does take concerted effort to calibrate.

Reasons for choosing Ergonode

We required a tool that combined the strength of data modeling with an intuitive UI in order to drive the entire company’s adoption. Akeneo was too stiff, and Pimcore needed more development resources than we had at our disposal. Ergonode was the perfect tool for us: It’s super strong with our complex data structures but user-friendly by our product managers. The fact that Scripbox API integration shares a modern architecture with a Sage X3 or Dynamics 365 was an elementary point why.

Reasons for switching to Ergonode

We ended up migrating from SalesLayer because it was not able to govern data as thoroughly, nor could it integrate well with our enterprise systems. Ergonode is a game changer. It offers better control in terms of data validation, workflows and permissions. However, the contrast in data quality and how easily we can now push that clean data up to our ERP and CRM is game-changing.

The biggest thing is that it has been by far the easiest to take our super complicated one-of-a-kind robotics systems and translate them into a simple marketing sheet for Shopify. In the past, we were not able to present our capabilities well on the internet. Now, we are making use of Ergonode to generate rich and consistent for industries, overloading capacities or feeding elements to higher systems “solution templates”. This enables prospective clients to learn about what we do and initiate a qualified conversation-effectively transforming our website from something that is like an online brochure to a powerful lead generation machine.

Cons:

The first breakthrough was to stop thinking about ‘products’ and start marketing ‘configurable solutions’. The platform is simple enough, however in order to use it to sell custom designed multi-million dollar automation we had to reevaluate the entire way that we go about digital marketing for our company and those are big internal processes.

Reasons for choosing Ergonode

We chose Ergonode for its clean user interface that our marketing team could adopt without a steep learning curve, and its robust, native integration with Shopify which was our chosen commerce platform.

Reasons for switching to Ergonode

We ported mainly for the better UI and UX. Although a solid PIM, our marketing team thought the user interface of Sales Layer was somewhat clunky and not as user-friendly for day-to-day use which was slowing down how fast we could publish new solution listings onto Shopify.It’s nice to see a product such as Ergonode PIM at least “one foot” in the world of new and modern SaaS application world. The process for enriching product data is more efficient while the direct integration with Shopify just feels more native and less config heavy to manage. Not being a team full of data tech specialists, Ergonode's emphasis on user-friendliness means far higher adoption and productivity.

Ergonode PIM Is The Pillar of Our Complex Rental and Retail Fashion Business

Ergonode rescued us from data chaos. In the past, handling an inventory system for rental cycles, one-off retail sales and endless customization options across thousands of SKUs was a chaotic disaster containing errors that end up causing things to go wrong at customer’s weddings or events. Finally, we have one true source for all product data. It’s eliminated the occurrence of listing errors and has allowed for real-time representation of our inventory on our website and gives our marketing team confidence in executing complex campaigns. That, in turn, delivers against two great outcomes: a better customer experience and the elimination of most operational errors that protect our brand as being reliable. It's a problem of managing a complicated hybrid (rental & retail) product catalog + many customizations and handling data integrity across all user touch points in the app without causing major errors for time-sensitive use cases like weddings.

Pros:

There’s no other platform out there where you can have this integrated rental & retail approach and that's what makes Ergonode unique for us. We can manage complex product attributes for a tuxedo package (e.g., rental availability dates, lapel style and retail SKUs) intrinsically linked within the same record. It integrates seamlessly with Shopify Plus, dumping all of this down into our store in real-time. This also makes sure that a customers booking the rental or purchasing the suit for keeps is 100% flawless. The UI is also extremely user friendly for our merchandising team, so it has greatly reduced the amount of time we previously spent on launching campaigns.

Cons:

The first round of migration from our old system and setting up our custom rental attribute layout was quite a large task which took some work. The core platform is great, but we had to put in a little extra work with their support team for some of the more advanced reporting dashboards we wanted for rental velocity.

Reasons for choosing Ergonode

We chose Ergonode for its superior user experience, which drove higher team adoption, and its proven, native integration with Shopify Plus that could handle our unique rental and retail data model without complex workarounds.

Reasons for switching to Ergonode

We outgrew Plytix. We needed a tool that was solid as a starter PIM, but could grow to meet the complexity of our +25K products in our rental inventory and customizations, as well as the high data velocity of our business. Ergonode is more mature and very ready for enterprise. It's a lot more user friendly and intuitive for our merchandising team - And the integration with Shopify Plus is light years ahead in terms of it's power and reliability, which for us is a "must have".

Fantastic Interface and Support, but Reporting Tools Need Improvement

Our main product information chaos issue is being solved by Ergonode PIM. In DTC, a website is our flagship store – when product data isn’t veracious or uniform, it kills trust and sales. By bringing all product information into one place, errors are eradicated, and the whole go-to-market process for new items is smoothed. The result is a much improved end-customer experience on our Shopify+ store. Shoppers can trust that they are purchasing the right product, resulting in less friction and greater brand loyalty. It has been adding value internally by increasing our operational efficiencies, decreasing the time staff must spend on manual data entry and error correction, and gaining confidence in the ability to scale its product lineup.

Pros:

Features and Ease of Use: The interface is simply fantastic. Our merchandising team picked it up with little training, a nice change from our old system. Product variants and attributes are easy to set up. The customer support: So far, the support team has been fast and knowledgeable. They have done a brilliant job troubleshooting for us, particularly when we first integrated with Shopify Plus. Scale: The system has scaled as far as our large catalogue and complex products relationships, with no known impact on performance. The integration is reliable and solid, allowing our product data to flow between the two systems smoothly, and we have had no problems with this dynamic.

Cons:

Most of the reporting and analytics tools that are baked in are a bit primitive. They are great to get a high overview, but we mostly rely on specific analytics tools for more in-depth information. For a v1 of the implementation, they are fine, however, more experienced users will probably want to extend them.

Reasons for choosing Ergonode

We used SalesLayer, and focused on what could be a better user experience with an improved speed. We reviewed Akeneo but the interface for Ergonode seemed more modern and user-friendly for our merchandising team. The setup seemed simpler, and the value proposition for a growing DTC brand seemed clearer. Ultimately, the choice came down to quickest adoption and strong native-feeling integration with Shopify Plus.

Reasons for switching to Ergonode

We switched because of scaling issues and a clunky user interface in SalesLayer. Ergonode has turbocharged everything that was great about PIM. As a platform, it is demonstrably faster, the user interface is clean and coherent, and wrangling complex products like species of digital insects has become far smoother, especially in relation to managing the various associated strokable media. It has enabled our team not annoyed them.

Streamlined Our Product Launches and Supercharged Our Marketing

In my opinion, Ergonode PIM is the solution to “marketing friction.” Ergonode eliminates delays and mistakes in product launches and campaigns. I do not have to ask people for a product image or the correct technical specs anymore. It gives me time to be creative and strategic, and it gives the company go-to-market efforts that are faster and more reliable.

Pros:

The Ease of Use is fantastic. It’s a clean and intuitive interface. As a non-technical marketer I can find exactly what I need without waiting for a report. The search function is fast and powerful. I also appreciate the Customer Support; on the few times I have needed help with filtering or exports, they were quick and helpful.

Cons:

I don't have major dislikes from a user perspective. It will be great if the built-in analytics could more directly point to which product attributes are most responsible for online traffic or conversions, but I mostly rely on our dedicated analytics platform for that anyway.
