Overview

About Pimics

PIMICS is a Product Information Management (PIM) solution that allows the management of big volumes of product data in one place, in an optimized and coherent manner. What sets it apart from other PIM solutions, is the fact that it works exclusively as an extension of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. It is what we call PIM-in-ERP, which means that company employees logging in to the ERP will get access to extended functionality regarding the products that the company is selling. They will be able to handle all necessary product data, no matter how complex. They will also be able to import massive data feeds from suppliers and set up exports to all the company's sales channels. All under the same familiar ERP interface.

A good PIM for companies that use Business Central

Overall experience is positive. Easy to learn and gets the job done. Our eCommerce business has certainly benefitted from the increased data accuracy and our people dealing with product data have their work much better organised.

PROS

It is integrated into our ERP, users do not need to learn a new software interface. Increases the overall reliability of our IT setup, not having to integrate a third party ERP. Works directly on the item data, so no more dilemma about where to generate the item first, PIM or ERP. :) Intuitive to use in the context of Business Central ERP. Not bloated with useless features. It enjoys a certain degree of flexibility and customizability from an in-house ERP developer, without having to ask Allium for it. Good helpdesk support from Allium.

CONS

There have been a few niggles in using the software out of the strict recommendations of the manual. The small issues we have encountered have been quickly fixed by Allium. A vendors interface would have been nice, but Allium says it will be implemented in a future version.

Reason for choosing Pimics

Unique feature of integration into Business Central ERP, better value overall than other PIM systems.

Vendor Response

Thank you Mircea! We know each other for a relatively short time, but Allium and Voxel Fab already work together as a team. We will continue to improve Pimics to meet our customers' expectations and keep it a top-notch PIM solution.

Provides a niche functionality in NAV that you may not yet know you need it.

Provides much more structure for your 1000's of finished product items in NAV BC than the standard fields or even item attributes and custom fields can offer. One source of data for generating publications and their versions, helps with generating price lists

PROS

Integrated: has become a 'hidden helper' inside Navision, which helps users Versatile: when it comes to work within your existing environment (e.g. Windows server shares, Sharepoint, Interface to InDesign, Webserver/Webshops, etc) Powerful niche functionality: inheritance of features across hierarchy levels, something standard NAV BC will not easily be capable of providing to a customer with heavily customized (finished) products.

CONS

Initial user interface was very tech driven which is difficult to grasp for average users in small companies (e.g. certification, classification, profiles, etc). Latest approach to publications is better suited for the trained user. Still the number of windows Pimics opens on screen (2 screens is best) when you drill in is a topic for improvement.

Reason for choosing Pimics

Fits a small and medium company in several ways, 1:1 support by Allium team is one of them.

Vendor Response

Thank you Daniel for your review. Much appreciated!
