Simply the Best.

PROS

I have used about a half a dozen design platform during my career and Altium 365 seems to have adopted the best features of all of them and combined them into one easy to use platform.

CONS

When you have multiple windows and projects open the panels tab is only active for one screen at a time which is a bit annoying and slows things down significantly.

Altium 365 - Fantastic accessory to the Altium package

With the ability to request parts, review designs and share project information and only require an account and invite to the organisation is a great bonus. Data can be shared with internal and external parties who wouldn't normally have access to the design software but then can view and data very easily. The option to live track components costs and availability is also a huge time saver.

PROS

The ability to log on and view project data from any location via a browser. If I'm working from home, in the office or in the lab I can view and analyse project data without needing to open the project in the application taking a licence from my colleagues who may need it to design.

CONS

I have encountered issues with some tools. The Assembly function is great but misses some components off on occasion. The Assembly View is in Beta.

Reason for choosing Altium 365

Cost and Ease of compatibility for current design data

Reasons for switching to Altium 365

Solidworks PCB is discontinued. It used Altium as a source code so transferring Project data was ideal.

Altium 365: the only tool you need for PCB Design !

Is a very simple-to-use but sophisticated tool that helps you to complete Schematic and PCB design in a fast and reliable way, generating all the required documents and support for manufacturing.

PROS

All the features are useful, but mostly the simplicity and fastness of how I can do the Schematics and PCB design, together with the documents I can generate for the Engineering department and manufacturing process.

CONS

Nothing that I recall. There may be some small issues with configuring the licenses, but finally all is good!

Overall a good tool with some room for improvement.

Overall I like the program, I'd say it is the easiest ECAD tool I have used thus far.

PROS

Easy to set up. Easy to manage licensing. Great tool to work anywhere.

CONS

Some features are kind of slow and the enterprise edition is kind of hard to "get it" at first (not so intuitive).

Reason for choosing Altium 365

It was easier to set up and I was able to install it in my desktop and laptop and save everything on the cloud and it was easy to share projects with my customers.

Altium365 Review

Love being able to effortlessly save and manage components to 365 that can be later used on any device or project instead of having to manage local libraries that must be shared between many projects and have to manage directories and file links to import correct parts when switching between workspaces.

PROS

Free add on to our current Altium Designer suite and accounts so managing and maintaining is much more efficient than a standalone solution.

CONS

Can be difficult managing between local and 365 content and syncing between the two to ensure the latest version is being saved to 365 for later use and revisioning.

A professional and comprehensive tool for aspiring designers

PROS

I like the completeness of the tools offered to design a professional PCB. I also enjoy the simple UI and cleanliness of the software. It is easy on the eye. Altium also sets a standard for quality which makes it easier to learn other software if needed.

CONS

There are occasional bugs that are only resolved upon restarting the software. Additionally, the pricing is only affordable for large profitable corporations, but Altium is generous with sponsorships and free versions for students.

Reason for choosing Altium 365

We received a sponsorship in the form of yearly licenses. Altium is simply more professional and comprehensive.

Altium 365: Ultimate ECAD tool

Altium is an extremely useful and intuitive ECAD tool that allows users to create customized processes, design complex boards accurately, and produce great documentation and PCBAs. It also allows teams from different disciplines to work together and visually explore circuit designs.

PROS

The 3D view and ability to interface with Solidworks (and other CAD tools) allows complicated electromechanical designs to be created accurately.

CONS

Due to the large amount of features, the program is buggy at times. The grid system could also have finer resolution.

Altium - the number one choice for PCBA design

PROS

The shared workspace with my colleagues all around the world and the possibility to share designs with folks that do not have Altium Designer on any good viewer installed. I also really appreciate the Gerber Compare (I guess that it is a part of 365).

CONS

The revision handling is not always straightforward in Altium Designer, I would like it to be clearly stated (maybe at the end of the file name) which version it is.

Altium 365 allows fast collaboration and ease of project management and sharing

Overall, I am happy with Altium 365, using some of its features profoundly, while trying to circumnavigate the things that are unclear. I hope to be able to learn how to use all the features in the future.

PROS

I love the commenting, the ease of project sharing between colleagues and especially the ability to view the design files in a browser, without having to install Altium Designer. Also I like the workspace component libraries, although I probably do not understand how they work and how they integrate with a design project completely. I also like the ability to pick any version of the project, and the ability to compare two versions of the design project files.

CONS

I feel that it is sometimes unclear how the projects in the cloud are connected to the local copy of the project. And because of that, I feel discouraged to use the functionality, being afraid to mess up the project structure or the project files either in the cloud or on the local machine. Also, the relation between the workspace vs local vs project component libraries seems convoluted. It would be nice to have all components used in all projects listed in a shared workspace library, available to use in other projects, while maintaining a local library of per-project customized components within the project. While I feel that there is all the functionality there, sometimes it feels overwhelming.

Reasons for switching to Altium 365

Altium offers a vastly more professional workflow, features and quality than Eagle. Also, it is complete and well-maintained, as opposed to open-source projects (although I admire the extensibility of the open-source projects; while I am aware of the scripting and extension applications in Altium, I would like to see a way for users to create and share their own extensions)

JB Loves Altium, Can't Wait to See What's Next

We are a small shop and our turn-over for students can make managing, tracking, and updating project work a challenge. With 365, however, that's no longer an issue. I can manage just about every aspect of a project from within Altium, on the fly. I really love using this program.

PROS

The ability to manage and coordinate multiple project efforts with designers ranging from my 10+ yrs. experience to undergraduate, student workers has made a world of difference. We can all access the same library and share parts with ease. Our projects can be updated without concerns of either engineering team, electrical or mechanical, running into conflicts or missing critical design changes. We get version control plus localized storage for the best of both worlds. What's not to like?

CONS

Of course there are always ways to grow and improve, but honestly the main desire I have is for more, manufacturer-approved footprints and models, possibly via a user-contributor portal. Possibly some in-program tutorials for setting up probing and/or design simulation? I know you already offer webinars, but maybe there's a way to make some of that knowledge available through the program? Heck, maybe that already exists and I just need to make some more time to explore.

Reason for choosing Altium 365

Much, much better interface, much more feature-rich software, version control and cloud management, built-in libraries, CAD and collaboration features, simulation capabilities, not to mention that Altium is the accepted industry standard and is what we prefer to teach our student employees to prepare them for employement.

Great tool

PROS

What I like most about Altium 365 is its seamless collaboration and accessibility features. The platform provides an excellent environment for teams to work together on electronic design projects regardless of their physical location. The real-time collaboration tools make it easy to share and edit PCB designs, schematics, and other project files with colleagues or clients, fostering efficient teamwork. Additionally, Altium 365's cloud-based approach ensures that I can access and work on my projects from anywhere, which greatly enhances flexibility and productivity. Overall, Altium 365 is a game-changer for electronic design collaboration.

CONS

One of the few things that still leaves something to be desired is the fact that Active BOM shows stocks of components from American distributors and not from the country I work in (UK) even though prices are set in Pounds.

A high end useful tool with a hefty pricetag.

Very nice tool with loads of functionality.May have to restart the software a few times per day due to bugs, and god bless your soul if you don't have a strong gpu, but it has the potential to be absolutely amazing.

PROS

Security while designing by rigorous and strong rule setting.Loads of functions that are useful and solid.Ease of cooperation.Output job-files as a "template", although these need way more customization for general projects.

CONS

So many bugs. It's so slow compared to free softwares like kicad. It develops new features rather than perfecting old ones or solving bugs (looking at you output-job templates)Be more open even when not logged in. Just let people open documents and access the server even if they are out of a license.

Reason for choosing Altium 365

Kinda is used for faster, small projects or one-shots.Allrum had more rigid rules and more functions and we trust the out-data more when designing high-end items.

Excellent implementation

Excellent, would recommend to anyone.

PROS

Excellent from start to finish. It makes designing, reviewing and publishing of electronic products so much easier than other software. From an admin side it's proved very useful to give people didn't privileges and roles in the process, managing libraries is made much easier and reviewing can be done on the internet from anywhere. The electronic and mechanical design are also top notch.

CONS

The vast capabilities of the software does lead to it being quite a lot of options which can be quite overwhelming.

Reason for choosing Altium 365

Far superior and a better, more professional sales pitch

Reasons for switching to Altium 365

Solid Product that does everything you need with version control

PROS

I love the version control. It makes organizing different projects and revisions very easy. The BOM feature is very convenient in estimating BOM cost and the way the BOM can check for part cost online make it even better. The large library of manufacturer parts already included makes adding new parts to your library easy.

CONS

I think something very difficult is trying to import footprints and libraries from online sources such as snapeda or ultra librarian. Every company has their own way of doing it and I believe if altium enforced a strict streamline way of importing, this would be to their advantage and to the advantage of the customer.
