A good basic webinar platform

Pros

The backend interface for users is quite easy to navigate and to create webinars in it. It's also easy to extract registration data. The webinar tool is also fairly easy to use when running the webinar. I'd say it's a great basic webinar tool for a smaller budget compared with Zoom. The integration with HubSpot worked really well, too.

Cons

We had issues with external panelists being able to run GoTo Webinar from Macs, or perhaps it was a firewall issue. Anyway, there were times they couldn't put on their video. It also wasn't always clear how the screen recording function was working and whether it was recording correctly when multiple screens were being used. These are issues that can likely be resolved with proper testing and training.

Good product for online conferences

I like GoToWebinar for its easiness of deployment and the possibility to connect larger groups of people than other softwares for distant learning. I'd recommend it to anyone needing a reliant application for screen sharing and videoconferencing.

Pros

The software is easy to use and you can immediately use it after launching. It allows a large number of participants to follow the same event and contact the moderator through the chat without interrupting the conference itself. Great customer support.

Cons

Sometimes screensharing is not livestreaming but this can be due to the poor internet connection of the attendees. Also mic features could be improved.

Reasons for switching to GoTo Webinar

Limited number of participants, constant problems with audio and screen sharing

GTW is No Longer a Leading Webinar App

GoToWebinar used to be a leader for webinar apps, but it's in severe need of an overhaul. There's really nothing redeeming about the GTW experience from the webinar host or attendee experiences.

Pros

GTW makes webinar set up simple and easy to customize branding for the automated emails and registration page.

Cons

GTW fails at allowing multiple presenters to host a professional, high quality webinar experience. The frequent software downloads for all users prior to joining a webinar are annoying and result in long time delays for events. The ability to for multiple admin users to manage parts of the webinar behind the scenes is very disappointing. GTW seems to function as if one host will do everything: host the webinar, respond to Q & A, manage live chat, help users as needed. Other admins can't take part of these tasks without derailing the presentation. Users get confused about not being able to communicate as expected. Once a host clicks to change presenters, it takes up to 60 seconds for that to actually happen which also makes the webinar seem unprofessional and poorly managed. It's nearly impossible to have a seamless presentation experience.
