From contracting edison365 to installing of the solution is such an easy and transparent process

Employee engagement for idea generation. This allows us to crowdsource solutions that have business value.

PROS

Software understands idea management and the team is passionate about providing a solution that client needs that translate to value. Its so easy to configure and install. Its great value for money. The user interface is fun and it integrates functionally into Microsoft suite of products. The solution is easy to use for employees and accessible on any mobile device. The CPS team is always on call and available for user issues. The support is incredible and doesn cost the client. The team is incredibly knowledgeable about their product and look for ways to improve it to assist clients. It integrates into projects online to be able to take ideas into initiatives. The software provides transparency and easy to access on any mobile device without having to install an app. The platform can be configured with company branding so it has look and feel of the company. This is the most humble and practical software I have come across in the industry. There no hidden costs .

CONS

There only problem is uploading pictures under ideas as there is a pixel limit that we hope the team will rectify soon .

Incredible value for the price.

Overall, this is a fantastic platform that is miles ahead (both in price and features). I believe a review should point out the flaws and potential short-comings of any product to help you make the best decision for your organization, but I am extremely happy with the product, platform, customer support, and ease of implementation.

PROS

I appreciate the well-rounded approach to the platform. Once the back-end has been set up (admins), it's very intuitive for users, making adoption much easier. Most of the other options we demoed were strictly limited to idea submission and organization - great from the basic user standpoint. Edison does a much better job of thinking about how admins and challenge owners operate and makes the back-end processes simple (walking an idea from submission through execution). One stand-out function that is not available on many other platforms is the ability to save an idea as a "draft." If you have an "aha moment" and want to jot it down quickly, but don't have time to flesh it out immediately, this is very helpful.

CONS

It lacks the ability to turn categories on/off for different challenge types. All categories are automatically available across the entire company. This can be a problem if you have very different subject areas targeted by specific challenges. Note that categories are a REQUIRED field to include in the build for an idea submission, so this cannot even be turned completely off at the idea submission level. The reporting functionality is great, but note that any custom edits to the Edison Ideation platform, such as new fields for idea submission, require custom editing of the template PowerBI report. It does not auto-update. Adding the custom fields is not immediately intuitive if you are not already familiar with PowerBI software. The triage feature is great, but limited. Different metrics can be assigned to different challenge types, however, they are accessible in every stage gate of the challenge and cannot be toggled on/off for specific stage gates. This can be annoying if an idea is only meant to be triaged in one stage gate, e.g., "review" vs. "awarded." The idea submission form format cannot be edited (dimensions, orientation, text color, font, etc.), limiting customization.

Reason for choosing edison365 suite

We evaluated four competitive products. We ultimately chose Edison for it's comparatively robust all-around usability from both a "user" and "admin" perspective. For what it offers, it's a STEAL at the price point. We already use the MS 365 suite, and since Edison runs on Sharepoint, it integrates with many of our existing systems.

Design Flexibility at your Fingertips

PROS

Edison365 provides autonomy to our team to configure the platform to our needs and workflow. The end user experience is fairly seamless, and user feedback has been that it is much more intuitive and less clunky than our prior tool. The integration with PowerBI and the reporting outputs have been extremely valuable in providing a portfolio view of activities, as well as driving leadership decisions based on team capacity.

CONS

There are certain in-built configuration items that have caused some confusion internally, based on our existing internal terminology (eg. BusinessCase as a module). The lack of a weekly periodic table for project resourcing has also been a pain point, and resulted in a clunky workaround for end users. Finally, not all staff members have access to PowerBI, meaning there are approvals that need to take place before users can be onboarded to view the outputs in our Dashboards. An "Export" function within each module would go a long way to resolving this.

ServiceNow was not fit for purpose for our bespoke Solutions Lifecycle, there was a 6-month waiting period for access to the relevant developers to make changes, and it is prohibitively expensive.

What I liked most is its holistic vision of integration of all end-to-end phases, its ease of use, configuration, and the human team working behind the tool.

Good experience

PROS

I like the flexibility of the tool and how easy is to do the set up. The interphase is very user friendly and it's easy to roll it out. Additionally. I would like to mention that the attention and support from edison365 team was exceptional.

CONS

We are struggling to get the reports from edison365 as the data structure is not easy to understand. Additionally, we are missing the portfolio functionality to be able to mange the different projects/programs accordingly. We understand the tool is still under development and we have a lot of expectations on the next features.
