Beezy makes our digital workplace a great place to work!

We have been using Beezy with a lot of pleasure for a few years now. When we first started the selection process our main objective was to select a company that offers an out-of-the box digital solution platform that would help us achieve our goals but would also become our partner for years to come. A partner that should be ambitious and was prepared to continuously challenge the status quo of their own product. This is exactly the kind of partner that we have found in Beezy. As technology changes and evolves, Beezy changes and evolves with it. And with that they challenge us as a customer to reinvent ourselves and modernize the way we collaborate digitally. And we like every part of it.

PROS

As a traditional organization with 11 locations in the Netherlands and Belgium we needed a platform that would create cohesion between locations and departments. We wanted our employees to be connected and stay informed. The concept of push and pull of news was very important to us: we wanted to be able to enforce some things but also offer a self-discovery mechanism that enables people to receive news according to their interest. Beezy is the only solution that we investigated that offers the perfect balance between those two. The accessibility of the UI is just great! Beezy is structured to find information in a very intuitive way. It looks amazing and becomes even better with every release. Also, the fact that it lives in our own Office 365 tenant makes the difference. We do not want a 3rd party vendor having access to our data. Beezy is unique in offering this capability.

CONS

There are no cons as far as I am concerned.

Reasons for switching to Beezy

The solution that we were using back IBM Quickr was end of life. We needed to move many files into an organized structure. Beezy Communities were the answer to the challenge! The communities were so intuitive, easy to navigate and with great features that our employees were enthusiastically waiting in line to create their own communities! Besides that we instantly saw the opportunity to replace our traditional e-mail newsletter with Beezy Stories, which allow anyone to create beautiful news messages.

User experience out of the box

In both implementations we were struck by the speed of getting a tailored site up and running. It is out of the box so you don’t need to involve huge amounts of in house IT resources but best to get IT on side from the beginning. We particularly like the CMS of the news and articles production which is as slick as Medium. Be careful around the migration of your old intranet’s content. Particularly if it is not SharePoint (or pre 2010). There is always more that needs to be migrated than you think!

PROS

We have implemented Beezy in two large organisations to date and judge it as a leading platform The key features we like: Highly intuitive user experience with accessible cards for posts One of the most integrated platforms with O365 out there Large enough to invest in new features and keep up with Microsoft’s roadmap Small enough to give a personalised service More users than Workplace by Facebook so constantly improving to meet the needs of millions of users Has connectors for the majority of popular enterprise applications. The company started in Barcelona and still has many of its engineers there. So training sessions (pre-Covid) are very pleasant!

CONS

They work through third party SharePoint houses to implement in local markets so worth checking that you like the look of the local partner.

Reason for choosing Beezy

Open tender competition with 6 other platforms against a strict user and technical brief. Lots of factors came into consideration but look and feel of the platform was generally the driver. That and the close integration with the MS stack

Beezy can be great for the right organization and with a few disclaimers

I really want to love Beezy, but we have a love-hate relationship. When stuff work out, it's great. Too often, though, we encounter small issues and errors - and the lacking search functionality is a serious issue. The customer support has gone from friendly but absent to quite excellent. This is important, since the documentation on Beezy's help pages is very minimalistic.

PROS

Beezy can make up an extremely good-looking intranet with quite an intuitive UI and a low threshold for interaction. For an organization where many users are using their PC full day and are keen on interacting, this can be a game-changer. The IOS app is an important part of it.

CONS

Too many features are only half-done or slightly flawed when they are implemented. E.g. features like Idea Campaign, Knowledge Centre, Wiki or Blog sound promising - but in reality they aren't really useful since they don't follow the same UI as the rest of the site, leaving users confused and frustrated (we have opted to disable them to avoid this). They were released years ago, so obviously not with a plan to improve them. Another example: for a long while, blog posts was part of the core feature called Sharebox but we discovered ourselves they were simply not displaying in the mobile app. They were apparently not implemented there yet, but this wasn't pointed out by Beezy so we had users thinking that content was disappearing. The biggest issue though is Beezy's only global search function, called Spotlight. It is a box that searches all content types and uses search-ahead (so far so great), which is important since Beezy doesn't support waterfall menus and information hierarchies so Search is crucial. But the search-ahead gives partial-match results for some content types at the same time it gives only full-match results for others, without any explanation to the user - making it practically unusable. This UI choice is quite strange, given that Beezy provides partial-match results for all content types when you go to their respective catalogues. We have disabled the Spotlight function. It seems now that the IOS app works pretty well, but it was unstable for very long.

Reason for choosing Beezy

We needed our own intranet quickly and Beezy had an awesome UI with the sharebox and it also promised to be a true out-of-the-box solution with an implementation time of a couple of weeks. Note: we also considered Valo, but I couldn't find them in your drop-down menu options.

Great product and customer service

They are very very responsive and come back to you within a day and if they can't, they will let you know!! My favourite guy was [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] - he is been a star throughout. You can tell that it is a good company to work for as the customer service team do not mind to go above and beyond - all the time!

PROS

Beezy has great functionalities and is very dynamic. They are are at the forefront of anything Microsoft related! They know their product VERY well. I had fun implementing it, can't say that often of other softwares. [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] was always available and very knowledgeable. [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] was a gem - he knows what he is talking about!!

CONS

It is a great software overall and couldn't fault it.

Exceeding User Engagement Expectations

During the COVID Pandemic Beezy has become a critical component in maintaining our culture. We use Beezy to share important information but also to have fun. An example is we have done some challenges by posting videos, like trick basketball shots.

PROS

We have been using Beezy for a couple of years now and enjoy the ease of use for our end users. We mostly use it to foster a positive and fun culture. We have found Beezy works great as a platform to share company news, onboarding new staff, and personal milestones. After implementing Beezy we saw an immediate improvement in engagement, particularly with our field staff. Since our field staff is rarely in the office or even working side-by-side with other staff this is one tool to keep them engaged and informed.

CONS

Would like to see integration with Microsoft Teams.

Getting to a good place

Getting more positive for sure. Customer service is excellent - we feel valued and listened to. We are grateful to have [SENSITIVE CONTENT] reliable support and believe if the relationship continues strongly, we can get to a very good place.

PROS

Ease of use remains a strength and recent improvements are an important step forward in getting our intranet closer to employee needs.

CONS

Be great to see improvements quicker and more widespread across all the Beezy facets e.g. strong improvements to story editor but what about the page and site editor? Great to see folder functionality in communities but when can we see this in sites? Would be good to have consistency but still glad to see the improvements happening.

Great product and team to work with!

Beezy was very easy to implement. Both technically and functionally. During the whole implementation project, we had a customer success manager available for us to guide us along the way. Our CSM was very patient, repeated everything as much as it was necessary so we would understand how things work. Also offered advice and inspiration based on Beezy’s experience. The support department reacted accordingly to any issue and was very helpful. The reactions on tickets always came quickly so the issues never blocked our progress. Additionally, the guys from support do not only answer and solve the tickets but also always try to offer extra tips and tricks that help us to use features in a smart way.

PROS

Easy to implement both technically and functionally. Involved team that is there to guide you during the whole implementation. Everyone always goes the extra mile to support us and to make sure we are achieving our goals.

CONS

Nothing to list here, everything was perfect.
