Mosyle: Started for Schools with Macs - A MUST HAVE for Businesses with Macs

Very good. From the beginning of the POC all the way to present-day they help me to answer questions I can't find in their KB to helping me with a script when it doesn't do what I expect.

Pros

Moysle is very simple to connect to your Apple account and setup as a MDM. In fact, Moysle Tech Support / Pre-Sales did this with us as we setup our Proof of Concept (POC) so it was super painless. They helped us with program snippets, as well as showed us how to work and have been continuously helpful, even after I've gotten my sea-legs with their tool.

Cons

Moysle does take time to truly understand what you are doing. their interface is very good, but Apple themselves make it so you need to track down a lot of different pieces of info like AppID bundles, etc to truly harness the power of managing them.

Reasons for Choosing Mosyle Business

No, minimums, the cost PLUS the ability to do a full POC and manage some Macs to see if the tool works for what we need was paramount.

Great Product, Fantastic Price

Overall, my experience with Mosyle Business has been fantastic. Great product, great support, at an unbeatable price! If you're looking at a competitor like JAMF, I'd encourage you to take a 30 day free trial of Mosyle Business before committing. Also, the onboarding team is willing to extend your trial if you need more time.

Pros

What truly sets Mosyle apart from all other MDM vendors is their price point. $1/mo per endpoint is simply industry-shaking prices. If budget is a concern at all, look no further than Mosyle. Mosyle has fantastic customer support, and the onboarding team was immensely helpful. There is a learning curve with any software that is this technical, but support is quick, courteous, and knowledgeable. Top notch, Mosyle. Mosyle has an extensive list of features, and even some unique features that are fantastic. The Mosyle Auth SSO login screen is one such feature. It lets you brand your login screen which makes for a much better login experience for the end user. The Mosyle Auth SSO login screen does come with an additional cost, but the cost is very minimal and well worth the extra expense. Currently, the Mosyle Auth SSO login screen costs an additional 34 cents per month, per endpoint.

Cons

The learning curve is a bit steep. It can be difficult to figure out what to configure if you've never used an MDM before. My only real complaint with Mosyle is relating to the Mosyle Auth SSO login screen. It is a feature that we pay extra for. The problem arises when you have FileVault drive encryption enabled. In order for the SSO login screen to be displayed, you first have to "unlock" your disk by signing into a regular Apple login prompt. Mosyle support indicated that the SSO login screen cannot be displayed until an encrypted disk is unlocked. What this does is force my users to log on twice. Once to unlock the disk, and once using the SSO login screen. SSO = Single Sign On. Single sign on fail, sign on not single.

Reasons for Choosing Mosyle Business

The number one reason to choose Mosyle Business over any other product is price. The price point simply cannot be beat. Mosyle has 90-95% of all features that other MDM vendors have, but at a tiny fraction of the price.

Patchy application needs major work

Advertised as an excellent product but needs major work. Customer support is something to be desired.

Pros

Endless features, has just as much as JAMF

Cons

Customer support is poor, response times are too long Emails to account management are ignored The application itself is buggy, things sometimes work and when they don't customer support can't give an explanation, quite unreliable.

Central devices control

This a great tool for companies that have large number of Apple devices, and need to control them within large numbers of users.

Pros

The MDM web interface that makes you visualize all your Apple hardware is easy to use and very functional. The remote app deployment for large number of devices saves time. Protects and localizes your hardware, with full control.

Cons

The initial integrations are labor and time demanding. The prices is slightly elevated.

Perfect for our needs

From the start it was easy to setup and get going. We not have notifications for activities and alerts for low battery devices and devices that have not checked in 2 days.

Pros

THis allows me to control and lock down devices for our 100+ users. It used to take me hours to update, reconfigure, and make small changes to all the iOS devices we had.

Cons

There are some limitations but it usually has to do with Apple's protocol not allowing you to make those system changes.

Mosyle Review

Overall, Mosyle is a great management platform for Apple products. It was recommended to us by our Apple rep as a product to try out and I am glad we did. We are saving money and able to manage our Apple devices now.

Pros

We began to look at Mosyle when we needed a remote management solution for our iPads. They have two tiers. There is a free version and a paid version. We are currently using the free version. The free version met our needs as we really just needed to push out the installation of certain apps. The free version does this as well as a few other things like setup security and wifi authentication. You can not run scripts in the free version. You do need the paid edition to do this as well as install pkg files. If you also need active directory integration, you will require the paid version as well. Compared to other solutions out there, the paid version is a bargain. Support was excellent and the onboarding process was easy.

Cons

We did have some trouble at first following along how they have their functions organized. We were more use to using the JAMF interface and so this took some getting use to and it wasn't always intuitive to figure out where things were. But, Support was excellent and always helped us through any issues we had.

Easy web-based management solution

Pros

There are a lot of different ways to interact with the managed devices, and most things happen in real-time. It’s a powerful management system that lets us manage iPads, mac minis, and iMacs within our district.

Cons

Occasionally there are hiccups between Mosyle and the iTunes store and apps simply don’t get pushed out to a device. When this happens, there is no clear way to fix the solution other than trying a whole bunch of different things until they download. Overall, though - very few frustrations with Mosyle.

Easy to Use MDM

Mosyle has been great, and makes device management easy for large and small deployments.

Pros

The interface is very accessible compared to most MDMs. It puts things in clear, concrete terms instead of obfuscating common workflows behind jargon.

Cons

It is well integrated with Apple, but that means you have to deal with some of the wonky API choices Apple made when you need to push apps.

Great software for MDM

Pros

Relatively simple set up. MDM is NOT simple, there are many steps that must be done, but the guided setup Mosyle created really does help.

Cons

Applying profiles to devices could be easier. Sometimes commands aren't sent to devices and there is no profile collision detection (if profile settings would conflict I should get an alert so I can fix)

Not too great

Not pleasant, I was very frustrated using their product

Pros

I liked the platform and how it broke down the different sections, and organized the applications

Cons

Not easy to use - often was confusing on how to access different parts of the platform Not responsive - many times I was waiting for apps to push through and it just didn't work Doesn't work from afar - cannot add applications unless the iPad is right next to me
