Patch My PC and how it saves time

This is the second organization where I've used Patch My PC with our ConfigMgr environment. It's a tremendous time saver; the work that would be required in maintaining updates and application versions without them is probably nearly a full-time job.

PROS

The publishing service tied to our ConfigMgr/MECM environment has saved a *lot* of work on both update management and new application deployment. Being able to simply select an application in the configuration instead of having to roll our own packages saves a lot of time.

CONS

I do wish that it was possible to configure/manage the publishing service remotely; currently it's necessary to run the console UI from the server where it's installed.

Simple solution to patch entire enterprise

Friendly team, cheaper than you'd expect it to be and incredibly easy to use.

PROS

Using PatchMyPC to push updates into Intune is so easy to set up and manage, and it just keeps the whole fleet of machines patched.

CONS

It's very simple and light on for features - basically you deploy updates or you don't. However, this is all we wanted it for, so it's not a negative at all.

Reason for choosing Patch My PC

Cost - PMP is just far cheaper and it does everything we needed in this area.

Highly recommend to use Right click options for PMPC

Highly recommended to reduce your packaging time/efforts, atleast for major apps. Also, try to explore right click tools for proper management.

PROS

I am impressed with the additional application customisations we can perform using the right click tools options from PMPC console. Support team was always helpful for major issues, and I see lot of new application requests were addressed last year and we are happily using them for application management and keeping our end-points secure and up to date.

CONS

Nothing as per my experience.....so far we have not run into anything to comment about this product.

PatchMyPC - A Critical Tool for your Endpoint Management Arsenal

Using a series of other reporting tools designed to determine the number of threats in our organization and then score us based on those threats, we've watched PMPC play a pivotal role in patching over 200 software titles to significantly bring down the number of overall threats and improve our grade simultaneously allowing us to consolidate software types, versions, etc. which has also allowed us another means to improve our threat scores.

PROS

PatchMyPC has been a game changer for us when it comes to two things, ensuring that our customer endpoints are getting the badly needed updates and seamless integration with our MECM environment with future support with Microsoft Intune. We spent two (1 hr) sessions with PMPC sales engineers and we were off and running. It was that easy. The resources available on the web and YouTube for customizing or tweaking aspects of PMPC or observing best practices are phenomenal. No other patching tool has been this comprehensive by order of magnitude.

CONS

Trying to stay modest here but I have yet to find anything within PMPC as a tool, service or the customer support that we "least" like. Support is very responsive, the [sensitive content hidden] cares very much about our customer experience, the product just works!

Reason for choosing Patch My PC

We were able to take advantage of a 60 day trial period with full technical support from PMPC before we even cut the check. Again the interface was simple and intuitive, the results were amazing in such a short period of time and the cost savings sealed the deal.

Reasons for switching to Patch My PC

Ivanti is a great product but it is neither intuitive nor does the interface act seamless. We always found ourselves having challenges with our task sequences and troubleshooting was always a challenge. There's very little out there on the web for self help forcing us to work with our contractor to resolve issues. The interface is clunky and in the end, the cost to us was greater than twice what we paid for PMPC.

The best option out there for third party app patching with Intune

Our overall experience with Patch My PC has been very positive. We accomplished our goals in very little time, and it continues to be one of the best applications we have in our endpoint management. Patch My PC support has always been excellent, and we are treated as though we are important. I can't recommend them enough for any enterprise looking to move to Intune and have third party application patching taken care of.

PROS

Initial setup was made much easier with excellent onboarding meeting provided by a PMP engineer. He walked us through everything and answered all of our questions. Any additional questions we had were answered promptly and completely. After that, ongoing work with PMP has been a breeze, and it's been mostly hands off. Applications just get updated automatically, and we achieved our goal - to implement third party app patching without requiring much ongoing attention to the system.

CONS

Some features are a bit vague and require referring to the documentation at times.

Patch My PC was strongly recommended to us by a Microsoft MVP whose opinion we trusted during a training session. Every bit of the experience was positive and there was no doubt we had made the right decision.

Patch my pc is a must have for sysadmins

We had the issue that we couldn't keep up with the security patching of a lot of 3rd party applications. With PMP automatic deployment rules we now never are late with security updates or new versions. So our devices are more secure!

PROS

It saved a lot of time regarding application patching an deployment, easy to setup with the help of patch my pc engineers. Not only for MEM but also for intune! Great fast response when submitting a question to the support of PMP.

CONS

I think it would be nice to be able to select a distribution group per application instead of all applications only. It sometimes takes a long time before you hear a status update of a suggested idea or application request. If you only use intune you still nee a server for the publisher application. Would be great to also support macos applications with PMP nd intune.

Patch My PC saved me hours

Seamless, fantastic, its saved me hours to get on with other work.

PROS

A couple of years ago I asked my boss to fund Patch My PC through a recommendation. Since implementing, it has saved me hours of work. I don't have to package applications in the same way anymore. Its all done for me, It deploys automatically for me via the ADRs setup, it works, it does what is required. I love it.

CONS

Everything I require at the moment is in the product.

CONS

Patch My PC should use feedback and forum suggestions to package additional generally available software packages. There seems to be a long delay between an item being added to the ideas forum and any progress towards packaging.

Reason for choosing Patch My PC

Manage Engine provide several different stand-alone patch management solutions, however they were not integrated into Intune, and would require seperate management.Microsoft Autopatch is limited to Office365 applications and does not manage real-world third party software solutions such as Adobe Reader, Google Chrome, etc.

Reasons for switching to Patch My PC

With half of our staff now working from home, SCCM no longer supported our needs for remote EUC device management. Whilst Microsoft Intune manages the remote EUC estate, patch management is manual, and requires ongoing maintenance and update to the application package.Replacing the in-built Intune packaging with Patch My PC has fully automated this process.

I can't tell enough how much time I saved since implementing PatchMyPC. It is very easy to get support when needed.

PROS

Patch My PC is the tool that helps me keep 99% of the installed applications up-to-date by automatically checking for and downloading the latest software updates and critical patches. It supports a wide range of software. The tool is user-friendly, with a simple and straightforward interface.

CONS

A few applications require a manual download of the updates to be added to Patch My PC to be deployed.That's not a PatchMyPC limitation but a software developer restriction.

We are very happy with the product and we hope to continue using it for many years to come.

PROS

The product is very easy to use and intuitive. I had no trouble setting up any existing configurations.

CONS

It would be great if you can come up with a way to automatically inform the administrator when a certain product (i.e Cisco AnyConnect or 7Zip) has reached x number of installations on our workstations so that we can take action accordingly by adding that product to the patch cycle.

PROS

1. Integration with Intune was key for us.2. You can perform very granular customization of the apps and patches before they get published in Intune.3. The Publisher tech requirements are very mild, which means you can run it on pretty much any Windows 10/11 machine out there.

CONS

It's a bit hard to setup a patch testing environment in the same Publisher that is running your production configuration, but it's doable.

Admin's patching Dream

PROS

This has been invaluable in creating an up to date and secured environment. Patching hundreds of third party software packages being a full time job that did not allow for further work to be handled. This has allowed for more directed projects to be completed by staff who were otherwise occupied with never ending patches.

CONS

With the Intune integration every patch creates a new package. Which can cause some confusion to new admins trying to find the active one.

Proactive Patch My PC

This is the second company I have brought Patch My PC to and it has been great and has saved countless hours of work.

PROS

The product is easy to use and allows you to setup and walk away.

CONS

Reporting is not something the product has much of. If we could have a report of those devices that did not get patched so we could focus on those that would be great.

We choose Patch My PC because we used Microsoft Intune and not SCCM and this tool could do both independently.

Been using Patch My PC for just over two years. Love it so far!

Love it!

PROS

Incredibly easy application patching and deployment. I can get new applications easily approved through our Security team just by knowing it will be auto patched.

CONS

I really wish there was more Autodesk software in Patch My PC. I am also hoping to get Intune Win32 dependencies in the custom deployments, but I know that is very difficult task.

Magical, truly excellent. I'm excited to see what PatchMyPC will do with the new Windows package manager and the overall future as the company expands.

CONS

I wish it were easier to get new products into the catalogue. I understand that companies don’t always host their app online for and not to download, but I would like it if PatchMyPC tried to develop relationships with them. Also, I really want them to handle Mac apps as well.

We have been able to automate our patches and third party package management, and it's saved a lot of time, effort, and overall frustration.

PROS

I love that I can set patches and applications once, and let the software take it from there. I don't have to think too hard or worry about checking things daily or weekly. A few spot checks here and there are the only management this software needs after implementation.

CONS

I think it would be nice to have the ability to get even more of our more specific engineering tools in the application list for both creation of packages and management of patches.
