MINDBODY is a cloud-based club management and appointment scheduling solution designed for the needs of small to midsize businesses. The product is primarily used by gyms, fitness and personal training centers, salons, spas and massage centers, wellness centers, dance schools and yoga studios.

MINDBODY offers features such as scheduling with wait list management, appointment booking through Facebook, automated scheduling of email and texts and online bookings. Memberships can be managed through MINDBODY as well.

MINDBODY also features a toolset for marketing management. With MINDBODY, notifications and alerts can be set up for customers, targeted marketing campaigns can be launched and marketing reports can be generated and assessed.

MINDBODY also offers staff management features, which include check-in and check-out management, role-based permissions, payroll management and calendar integration.

MINDBODY offers custom API access that enables third-party developers to integrate their platforms with the solution. The product offers a marketplace for applications that can be integrated with MINDBODY, such as Spafinder Wellness 365, Xero, Perkville, RelateLOOP, Zcubator and WaiverKing.

They have a good customer service department that can help tutor you in areas that are not intuitive.

Pros

It makes quarterly or year end tax calculations a breeze. It can separate different types of income quickly and efficiently, and can go back several years.

Cons

It is quite pricey, so a start-up studio would want to wait until they have a steady income stream with a growing client base. Also, several of the features are complicated to use which can be frustrating.

Cons

For non-techys it's a little tedious to navigate. There are so many options to comb through, many of which we won't even need.

Pros

Not much positive about this software. Once setup (see bellow) kind of works, poor layout. My clients didn't like the way and trouble they had to go through to book.

Cons

Can't send sms reminders. Leave a message they'll call you back... Maybe in 2-5 days, emails worst. takes 3 to 5 hours to setup with staff over the phone. Staff don't seem to know the product. Very hard to change classes (days/times). After clicking any changes screen flashes, nothing to tell you that it has saved changes.

One of favorite things about Mindbody is the fact that it's so easy for our patients to pay for our services before or after getting treated without having to go to the receptionist desk. As well as paying for classes thru the Mindbody app.

Cons

I wish Mindbody had medical billing thru the app with a clearinghouse. That'll be so convient for our business.

Not Impressed with Mind Body just don't go there

Mind Body you really need to buck up your ideas, you have a rigid system that is overpriced in an increasing market full of new software. Many of my friends and colleagues are moving over to Go Team Up and let me tell you, the customer service is second to none.

Cons

Receiving payments from credit card processing was a NIGHTMARE, 10 days to get money and 8 months of constantly contacting them to see if anything could be done. In the end they asked me to shut my merchant account down and set a new one up and this did nothing.
Customer services is awful, there are a few who answer the phone who clearly don't want to help you out and reply with short answers making you feel awkward and stupid for even asking.
They put their prices up and gave me NO warning of this, price increase, disgraceful!!!!!
Reporting system is limited and to find the right one you've got to contact support who take ages to answer the phone, there are so many ways to run a report that it's hard to learn the process.
Their system is hard to use, it's not user-friendly.
They have no loyalty for customers, when I gave notice to leave they accepted it and moved on, no one contacted me to even find out why I was leaving.

I really like how easy MindBody is to use if you have a small business. I also really appreciate the customer service even if it takes sometime to reach a tech.

Cons

BRANDED WEB. Because MindBody bought HealCode, but hasn't made a lot of updates to it, HealCode (Branded Web) does not provide the features or functionality needed to use it with MindBody/our website. The only answers I ever get are "No" and "We are working on it."

I can see great potential with this software, but the improvements are made to function better for Yoga studio/Gym. There should be something that makes this software geared to the type of business that you are running. Hair salons carry A LOT of inventory and that are of this software is a sore spot. Being able to keep the calendar open and functioning while checking someone out is a must, as pre-booking an appointment usually happens simultaneous of the guest being checked out. Very pretty look, good app, but needs some work to be more marketable to the Hair world

Reliable but slow

The scheduling is so easy to use and most importantly it is easy on the eyes. You look at the schedule and it makes perfect sense. You aren't having to hover over anything to figure anything out, what you see is what is it. The payment taking is also so easy. I have been using this for over 5 years now and they continue to make updates that are so helpful. The reporting system is also another huge plus. I honestly can get every report I need from Mindbody.

I have worked at other establishments with scheduling systems but none of them compared to mindbody.

Likes Least

Sometimes they do get rid of features that I like to use and it throws me off and then I have to figure out a new way of doing the task I am doing.

Recommendations

Watch the tutorial and what they show you is truly what you are getting. It really is that simple to use. It is honestly the best scheduling software you are going to find.

MBO does a good job at storing client data and many people already use the MBO app. The app does not work for us, because we have our own, but if you are trying to build a client base it would be a good too.

Likes Least

It is not set up to work well with studios that have multiple locations and the reporting is not accurate.

Recommendations

MBO is the most widely used software for gyms and studios. It works well for a small business but runs into issues when business get more complex.

It lists classes is in an easy to read format. It is pretty simple to click and add classes you would like to prepay for.

I attended classes at several businesses that utilize this software, however, I have to create a different login for each one. It would be nice if somehow they were linked. For a moment I thought they were because some employees at these establishments have asked me if I have a MindBody account. I did, just not for their specific business. So perhaps the marketing/training/definitions for this could be better.
Also, I am not sure if this is a result of the computers certain establishments are using or the actual software, but the payment process on location is very slow. It can hold up the line at busy times.

Recommendations

This seems to be great for managing a large number of classes offered on a daily basis as well as smaller amounts. I think there is a nice range in showing if a class is full or not compared to just showing the schedule. It seems to cater to the businesses needs well.

Instant reminders and calendar management of fitness classes.

Pros

MindBody is an incredibly easy to use and to the point software designed to help schedule + directly add reminders to your calendar, advertise, make payments to businesses, and keep track of your fitness classes. MindBody is a phenomenal tool to use as a client. Exercise companies/businesses that use MindBody make it accessible for clients with busy schedules to book time to take care of themselves through exercise.

Cons

I wish I did not get logged out of the app unexpectedly and when my phone does app updates. Not that big of a deal but it is annoying to get kicked out.

I absolutely love mindbody. I have used it at two gyms I have worked at. Both Training Mate in West Hollywood and Orangetheory Fitness. I have more restrictions on what I am able to use at Orangetheory (I am unable to do things like merge accounts) but it is still an amazing system to use. By the click of a button, we are able to book our members into their classes. And my favorite feature is being able to do charges with mind body. It is so simple and helps us so much. It ensures safety for our members when the credit cards are declined, it says why, if it's stolen or if we should not honor.

Cons

I overall really enjoy using the mind body software. I would have to say the one thing I dislike it is when the system goes down. When it goes down you are unable to view any pages other than the hiccup page. Other than that, there aren't any problems I see.

It provides a one stop program for practice management.

Pros

MB has been the industry standard for yoga and massage for years. Their product offers many layers of functionality for service based industries. Mobile app is useful for scheduling.

Cons

I have used MB for almost 8 years and used to love them but they have changed significantly recently. In the last 24 months the service and product has degraded significantly. Customer service calls average a 45 minute wait during the days, call back service doesn't work. CSR, are now poorly trained at finding solutions (they used to be amazing). Bugs continue to pop up with each revision and most remain unresolved. In January 2017 errors with the online scheduler became excessive (4 in one month) where clients booked apts online and we were never notified of their requests.
Then with the addition of text apt reminders it increased charges and I was unaware that other providers did this at no extra charge. Then in January 2017 an email from the president (which intentionally went to junk mail since it didn't come from the known sender like the bills come from) indicated a necessary increase with no new functionality. Leaving them has been hard to transfer data to a new provider, but worth it.

Cons

The app has a lot of problems. It constantly asks me to sign in, after I have selected, remember this login. Sometimes, it will not show my schedule. Other times, it will be missing dates I know I have signed up.

That they are not able to book classes past their bill date on the mind body app. I dislike that I can't delete documents because sometimes it's easy to add the wrong documents on the wrong profile.

24 hour customer support - I do find it's best to contact support between 3 and 5am though if I want to get through to someone quickly.

Cons

So many things! To get anything done it seems like to you have to go through so many steps. I find that the bulk of my time spent working with the yoga studio is trying to get things done on mindbody! They are so expensive. You can only get to merchant information M-F during business hours (there should be a portal to this information) and overall very buggy.

I love the Business app. I am able to run my business on the go and be in touch with clients, sales, overall business view. I am addicted to it!

Cons

I am not able to quickly and easily email or text a class roster or a segment of clients who have attended a specific class type in the past. The only method of accomplishing this is time consuming and klunky.

Same errors keep happening for workshop feature

I assigned the pricing options for workshops but it doesn't show for people to buy online through mind body app.

This lead to loss of business because people thought the workshop was full when it wasn't.

We couldn't even us the "buy" option next to the name before the workshop to purchase the workshop.

We had to go to retail section and bring up the person to buy the workshop.

Then we had to go to each person's account and assign the pricing option to the workshop.
