I'm a creative, so numbers aren't my strong point - I'm also at the lower end of earnings so paying an Accountant quite a lot of money for my very small and simple returns always grated against me. Thank Goodness I found GoSimple!! I just love it - dare I say, I might even look forward to doing my Tax Return?!?!!

So intuitive - prompts make the fields easy to populate, sensible sub headings described in layman's terms and even flags up potential mistakes / discrepancies!

No Cons - honestly can't think of a thing!

If you have no idea how to fill in a tax return this is great, and it asks questions to help you reduce your liability. However, for different reasons the last two years I've needed the help desk to fix bugs / advise why the software is responding as it does. (The help desk is helpful though!)

It is easy enough to complete the various boxes, once you have learned how to use the software.

Frankly it is more complex than filling out a tax return. The only reason I do it is because I want to file minister of religion forms on line (so need to use 3rd party software).

I thought, initially, that it actually made the whole process simple. I later found out I was a fool and that I should be using the free HMRC one. I then find out that the price has hiked again and all the customer support team say is "Over the last 12 months, we have added lots of new features and made software improvements to give you the best possible experience when filing your self-assessment tax return" as if that makes it ok. What are they? I doubt i'll need them. Who asked for them? What a terrible excuse. If I started charging more for making my software better people would stop using it. I will thus be stopping using it

The support team. The inability to modify a filed return and having to ring HMRC and sit on hold for 40mins anyway.

GoSimpleTax makes it so easy to complete and submit a tax return. I used to the HMRC site directly, and it feels horrible and makes you stress about submitting a return. This is such a better experience and so quick. Very grateful. Well worth the small expense.

Really easy to complete the information. Gives prompts for claimable expenses you may have overlooked. Calculates the tax whilst you are completing the information.

Nothing to report. There was nothing I disliked about my experience.

Not bad but some disappearing data and not clear instructions, missing headings, as mentioned above, did not fill me with confidence.

The layout and simplicity. Easy to follow.

Not enough detailed help information and some of it is inaccurate. Names headings to use which don't exist. Couldn't find the log of my personal drawings to edit - they seemed to have disappeared. Not enough clear explanation of what happens on validating the assessment. A user guide would be good with more detail.

Where to start? Lacking some very basic capabilities and options. Un-intuitive interface. Slow to react and update. Frequent outages and malfunctions. Customer service will make you want to cry or worse - you get the distinct feeling that "we don't give a care" is the company's moto. In three years there hasn't been a single improvement to the interface.

Personal tax - used to be done by a tax adviser which was a more opaque and expensive exercise

Very simple and straightforward to use. Excellent clear feedback on tax liability via the tax computation feature. Feedback on unclaimed tax benefits and any errors is also immensely helpful.

No problems from my perspective once you have understood how to enter data

The section expenses needs something to help me to find the right group for certain items... for example it would be nice to have a tool that has reverse look up: lets say you have purchase pencils, you click on search... then the tool advice you in the "Computer, Tools & Office equipment>>stationary" Also the last section right before filling, there are several options to select entering information for some forms and others, but I personally lack of the knowledge and jargon to decide... I think it should provide more info for noobs like me.

Ok I have used more developed software to file in Canada but yours has the bones to be developed into a good one.

At first it seemed straight forward. It went down hill when I attempted to add three simple numbers. It sent me to a SA106 to do a calculation with no idea or advice. I followed the links and found myself on the HMRC site actually what I wanted to avoid. In the end I figured it out myself and was able to file.

It’s just not intuitive if you are beyond the paye stuff but way better than the HMRC though. Replace the 106 with a simple way to calculate the numbers. In the end I did it on a spreadsheet

The reality is that I still need to do a lot of the work compiling expenses outside of the app, and therefore - apart from the ability to complete a tax return on a computer, lots of the functions open to a self employed person do not help me as a Minister of Religion.

Ability to automatically fill in tax return. Self checking so it is easier not to make mistakes.

The receipt capture feature is good, but does not work when receipts are for Minister of Religion allowable expenses.

Pleasant layout. Fairly intuitive. Has a basic feel, but that is deceptive. It produces really good reports, such as P&L and Balance sheet. It has a full audit trail. The ETB for accountants is excellent.

It is easy to use for customers and the price is fantastic value. The support is excellent. The fact that we, as accountants can log on and use all facilities is very useful.

It has a few quirks, but it seems the new version will iron these out. I wish it used the keyboard more. I love TAS Books for that. No mouse waving!

Great. It's changed the pain of my annual tax return to feel more organized and planned.

The software is user-friendly, intuitive and has helped me to be more organized when it comes to my company finances. Support is there when you need it but that is the exception rather than the rule.

Everything integrated as I hoped. It's sometimes difficult with new software when it's hard to navigate and doesn't do what it says it would. Not in this case. The software does everything it says is does. Simply.

With this product I’m hoping that next year’s tax return will be made easier due to dual tax responsibilities.

I found the on-screen help not much use at all and ended up having to look for the answers via Google or an accountant which, to me, defeated the object a bit.

Quite good but not fully satisfied from the ease of use of the interface.

Tips about claim expenses. Expenses arrangement.

After submitted to the list, an expenses is not fully editable. Is not possible to sort order expenses by date. User interface could be more customisable.

Arguably one of the best softwares i have used in the recent times for tax savings

1) Customer service is very good as we get an hourly reply 2) Easy tax explanations and advise helps in benefitting

1) Filing returns is stressful and a little more detailed view of this would make my work near to nil

All clergy are responsible for their own tax submissions and GST provides a cost effective substitute for a personal accountant!

The clue is in the name GO SIMPLE TAX. A user friendly tool for a difficult time of year!

The software itself was fine but the transition from a free trial to a yearly subscription could be explained up front.

So far it has helped me reduce my accountancy costs in a bad year for turnover. Not had a reaction from hmrc yet so I reserve judgement overall

The voucher code I'd received from my brother didn't work. And strangely, the voucher code I was sent having submitted my tax return was identical.

I had help from a guy called [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN], he was a fantastic resource. Very quick to respond and very informative.

User friendly software, particularly the mobile app. Includes plenty of helpful information to guide you through the process.

No issues so far with the mobile app however the mobile app seems to be more user friendly and easier to use than the web app.
