# Hootsuite User Reviews

## Reviews summary

- Overall rating: 4.4/5
- Total reviews: 3,803

### Secondary ratings

- Ease of use: 4.3/5
- Customer support: 4.2/5
- Value for money: 4.1/5
- Functionality: 4.3/5

### Rating distribution

- 5 stars: 1,995 reviews (52%)
- 4 stars: 1,352 reviews (36%)
- 3 stars: 370 reviews (10%)
- 2 stars: 49 reviews (1%)
- 1 star: 37 reviews (1%)

### Most mentioned pros

- It streamlined our content posting and basic campaign tracking, saving us from having to manually check on them all the time and helping coordinate tech support responses via the inbox.
- Hootsuite centralizes the scheduling, listening, and analytics of platforms into a single spot, making it easier for non-marketing teams like ours at IME Hidraulica to share their project updates and monitor industry mentions without having to juggle apps.
- I use it almost every day because I really enjoy it, and I can create powerful workflows and automate some tasks.

### Most mentioned cons

- The platform is not a good value when our team is expanding because it is essentially a waste of money, and the customer support is virtually worthless when it comes to annoying lockouts in account management or the necessity to have some advanced customization features.
- Video editing capabilities are quite limited and this can be frustrating as we do a lot of visual storytelling.
- One thing I don’t love about Hootsuite is that it can feel a bit clunky sometimes, especially when switching between accounts or navigating certain features.

### Still hooting for Hootsuite

- Overall rating: 5/5

We are still enjoying Hootsuite and the various features available. We're able to afford the costs while we have extramural funding, but will need to consider continuing once our grant funding ends.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 2/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

One obvious improvement over the years is the ability to schedule social media posts across multiple platforms. This has made a significant difference in efficiency for our team, especially when it comes to collaborative projects.

#### Cons

We've experienced some challenges with customer support. In one case, the account was locked due to one user's inadvertent actions and it took longer than expected to get customer service to assist us with getting back to full operation.

#### Reasons for choosing Hootsuite

We were using Hootsuite before they canceled the free plan so our team was already familiar with the platform and features.

### 2nd best social media management platform

Pretty solid platform with good support. There's a reason they've been around for more than a decade.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I think they're the second best social media management platform on the market outside of Buffer. You really just need a platform for scheduling, managing across multiple social accounts, and response management. They do great in all these factors.

#### Cons

They don't really offer any useful social listening capabilities. That being said using HootSuite + another tool like BuzzSumo will give you a way better results than just choosing an all-in-one like SproutSocial.

#### Reasons for switching to Hootsuite

Sprout Social and Agorapulse costed too much, and was very difficult to use. Hootsuite just works better at social media management than both of those more expensive solutions.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5

What I like about Hootsuite is the ease of use of the whole platform. It’s the first web tool for planning posts and analyzing insights that I have used, right after Canva. I use it almost every day because I really enjoy it, and I can create powerful workflows and automate some tasks.

#### Cons

With Hootsuite, LinkedIn doesn’t allow you to schedule PDF uploads, which is a shame. Also they dosn't anymore giving trial.

Being an E-Commerce Manager, it is important to have a stable social presence. I take this to plan our daily retail campaigns. It is very effective in postings but the cost is high to a medium sized business.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The convenience in terms of planning our marketing materials is amazing as we can conveniently make promotional video posts on all our retail social networks at once.

#### Cons

The platform is not a good value when our team is expanding because it is essentially a waste of money, and the customer support is virtually worthless when it comes to annoying lockouts in account management or the necessity to have some advanced customization features.

### Great for consolidating accounts, expensive for small clients!

Hootsuite is great, however it became too expensive to justify when there were free tools we could use for our clients like Meta Business' scheduler, LinkedIn Scheduler and Databox for free reports. However if your client's accounts are all business places and you want to schedule all in one place, Hootsuite just might be the tool for you!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Their analytics reports are awesome! Hootsuite allowed me to create and download custom analytic reports for clients (that they loved).

#### Cons

Over the past year, Hootsuite changed their plan structure. You no longer can create free accounts for clients. You also can only add business LinkedIn pages (I was unable to add personal accounts for clients).

#### Reasons for choosing Hootsuite

At the time, Hootsuite was cheaper and more familiar! We had been using free Hootsuite prior to upgrading!

#### Reasons for switching to Hootsuite

At the time, Hootsuite was cheaper! We also had been using Hootsuite for 95% of our client accounts so our clients and team were familiar with the product and liked using it!

I am extremely disappointed with Hootsuite's poor support in getting me a refund for this mishap on their part in not canceling my account. I will never work with Hootsuite again. I'm shocked that they are an enterprise company and can't get back to customers.

#### Cons

They did not cancel my account when I requested it and thought I had completed cancellation. They proceeded to charge me over $1,000 before I caught that this subscription had rolled over. I sent them 5+ emails to resolve the issue, to both the original sales rep and to the support channel, and no one has gotten back yet.

### Powerful, Time-Saving Social Media Solution for Serious Users

Overall, Hootsuite has been an invaluable tool for managing my social media presence. It provides a powerful suite of features that streamline planning, scheduling, and analytics, which has allowed me to stay on top of content with ease. While the learning curve and cost may be considerations, especially for new users, the time saved and the value added make Hootsuite an excellent investment in my social media strategy.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

The ability to streamline all my social media accounts into one easy-to-navigate dashboard is a game-changer. Scheduling content across multiple platforms saves hours each week, and Hootsuite’s analytics provide deep insights that help improve my strategy. It’s perfect for handling the social presence of a growing brand or small business, giving me all the tools I need in one place.

#### Cons

The pricing for premium features feels a bit steep, especially for small businesses or independent users who don’t need all the bells and whistles. The dashboard can also feel a bit crowded at times, which makes it challenging for new users to get comfortable. Finally, customer support could be more responsive, as it sometimes takes a while to get help when you need it.

#### Reasons for choosing Hootsuite

I chose Hootsuite because of its comprehensive feature set, which combines scheduling, analytics, and social listening tools in one platform. While Buffer and Later are great for scheduling, they don’t offer the same level of analytics and multi-platform support. Sprout Social was also a consideration, but Hootsuite’s pricing and user-friendly interface suited my needs better.

It was easy and convenient when I was able to use it casually, but it's not a product for people like me anymore.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 1/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Hootsuite was great when it had a limited, but permanent free tier for small business and personal users who didn't need advanced social media account management tools or were infrequent posters. I found it easy to schedule posts both from the app and my computer.

#### Cons

The price makes it absolutely unaffordable for small businesses, freelancers and people just starting out. Maybe for people/businesses who post multiple times a day there's some value in the time saved, but for folks who only want to post a couple times a week, $1,200USD per year means you're paying more than $10 per post. It seems like Hootsuite only wants a particular type of user, and small businesses ain't it.
