- Customer support. This software needs to be an American Company again. Customer support are just terrible. They lack product knowledge, lack empathy and they lack the right customer communication.- Steep learning curve. Which is understandable. Beautifully composed effects comes with a price to pay - learning-wise. So pay it!- Expensive. I don't agree with there subscription basis. They should bring back perpetual ownership of the software.

There are lots of features and you can install plugins to make your workflow faster and easier and further expand the functionality and features.

The features can also be a con, it can take a long time for a new user to get used to the interface, it's an overload and we end up trimming the interface down so there is not too much going on. After Effects can be really heavy on your computer and is prone to crashing. It's part of Adobe, which has some of the worst customer support in existence.

At first it was very hard because my pc had very low specs and after effects would often cause my pc to crash. I also had to watch a ton of tutorials on YouTube before i could use after effects freely on my own. But other than this its absolutely a game changer, 100% would recommend for fellow video editors and animators.

It has a vast array of effects and presets to make your videos that much more enjoyable. you can even add plugins from external sources to further expand the creativeness in your videos, you can edit the sound of your videos to make your voice sound better. There are many transition presets for you and you can even create your own custom transition using scale, position and etc. After effects also has an autosave feature to ensure that your work isn't ever lost. You can also work on multiple projects and switch between the easily. It has a customizable interface so you can adjust anything you want to your liking. Clips can be sped up, slowed down and reversed without much trouble. There is also a very useful feature called mask which will help you to animate certain parts of your video or remove them entirely. You can remove entire backgrounds from your videos using the rotoscope feature if you don't have a green screen at your disposal. There are a ton of shortcut to make your editing faster and more enhanced. There are lots of composition presets to choose from and the app interface is very neat. You can also track certain objects in your videos using a built in feature. After effects comes with a wide array of render presets which you can use to export your videos in high quality.

Firstly it will take a good amount of time before you can use after effects freely and easily because of it's learning curve. Secondly After effects will also take up a large portion of you computer storage. Thirdly it will affect your pc's performance quite a bit and in some case it can even damage some low end pcs from overheating. Fourthly rendering long videos takes a long while. other than this i personally had no other issues with after effects.

If the system has lower specifications and suppose you are rending an highly complex video that is just edited, it will take very very long time to render and sometime software will even crash. In After Effects, you have to hit "Render" to see even the most basic video playback, and as soon as you start adding any content to the timeline, you have to knock back the preview quality to 1/4, and wait, wait, wait for frames to render. This can make editing tedious.

I would say that in my case, the pros outweigh the cons. I love this video editing software as it can do a lot of things that other editing softwares that I've used cannot do. I love this software because no other editing software that I've used compares to it. No other softwares have the number of available features that After Effects does. The capability to be as precise as I can when creating transitions and animations cannot be found in any other software. I also have the creative freedom to make as many changes and alterations to video clips and images with the number of special effects that are readily available to me. Furthermore, each of those special effects can be personalized and further edited. Needless to say, the possibilities are endless with this editing software.

The few things that I don't like about this software is that it is definitely not beginner-friendly. It is very intimidating at first sight. There are a lot of panels and buttons and as someone who started off as a beginner, I was immediately scared off after my first impression. Another feature that I don't like about After Effects is the Rendering feature. The new versions of After Effects got rid of the H.264 video format (which allows users to export their videos in HD) and in order to be able to use it, Adobe Media Encoder (another Adobe software) needs to be installed. It was completely unnecessary to get rid of this one very important feature, and I think it needs to come back. Having to download a whole extra application for this feature alone is absurd as it takes up too much space on my computer.

Adobe After Effects is amazing for creating VFX. It has tons of third party plugin support, and is easy to use.

However, it can be slow at times, and is not really great for anything other than VFX. I'd personally recommend Premiere Pro.

From more than 5 years of experience using the program, the text and speed in handling files are of a very high level unlike other programs, which is a good point for Adobe After Effects .

I think everyone is confirming my words that the user interface is intimidating to people who see it for the first time , unlike Adobe Premiere Pro , which is simple and comfortable for the eye , especially for them . Other than that, the user needs a long time to learn the tools , as it is considered very difficult at times.

My experience with the program. The program in general. The program has many interesting and very distinctive things in the manufacture of visual effects and many wonderful tools. I use it in my work. It is a wonderful program that is characterized by many things and tools that help in making videos with powerful visual effects.

From my point of view, one of the best things about this program is that there are many very useful tools in visual effects that greatly help in producing a distinctive video, such as the animation feature, the 3D feature, wonderful filters, and moving objects, modifying and converting them from programs to programs other easily as well as easy import and export. The files are of high quality and great accuracy in file transfer.

From my point of view, it needs a computer with powerful capabilities to run the program easily. Therefore, when extracting the final project, it takes a long time to extract it if you do not have a computer with strong capabilities, and it is expensive for some people in its price.

After Effects was one of those programs I knew I needed, but didn't want to need. I had to learn how to use it because it vastly improved my production value, which allowed me to charge more and scale my business.

The magic it can create is unreal. The production value of any project can jump leaps and bounds after a round in After Effects. Most people in my industry use Adobe Premiere and AfterEffects concurrently. I prefer to create/modify elements in After Effects and then use them in Final Cut Pro. It's not the most efficient way to do things, but it's doable and effective.

The one thing I don't like is that it's an Adobe product. Adobe are infinitely the champions of organization and structure. So much so that without prior knowledge of how Adobe programs operate i.e. file directory structure, etc - After Effects would be very difficult to learn. Tutorials or external instruction is usually needed. Once you get the hang of it, it's incredible powerful software.

With after effects, I animated logos for several companies, and thanks to the software I was able to do it quite quickly. We have many possibilities of modifications once in after effects, as much for animations as for special effects. Text animations are also easy with plug-ins adapted by the software. After effects supports many formats, which helps graphic designers in their workflow.

I often have video editing missions, and I choose directly after effects, as much in the motion design as in the video editing. I can do a lot of my workflow in after affects, that's what's great. I sometimes have photo editing that I have to do in photoshop, but I import everything into after effects, where I can create folders so I don't get lost, the interface is very well designed. There are also many choices of transitions for your cuts, everyone will be happy and will find what he needs.

The names of the effects are quite specific, so if you don't know specifically what you're looking for, you can waste some time. However, a search on the right hand side will guide you through the process, and will also suggest other effects that you may not have thought of. After Effects integrates very well into any video editing process. Once you start working with this software, we can no longer do without it !

This is a great piece of software where you can feel the complexity and the robustness since it does not crash when it run out of memory or swapping space. It only gets slow. And so is the work with AFX - you need to learn how to connect the pieces together and think ahead. Know the CG basics (alpha channel, subframe rendering etc.) to star using it effectively, but after that, anything can be achieved. You can even import basic 3D objects and work with them in postproduction. Upon finishing a projects all files can be collected and kept in a folder for future use, without having to keep the rendered outputs.

The consistency of the UI and main principles over years makes it a valuable app. But only after you figure out the main principles and start combining them. Animating or creating can be done rough or extremely precise on a frame-level. And if you ever get the feeling that there is something missing in After Effects - there is probably a plugin or script for that which can help. + tracking tools are great.

Sometimes people can get lost in their open compositions, pre-rendered compositions, cached contend etc. So even as a seasoned user one can get lost and close a window which was not inteded to be closed. Also there is no real particle playground.

I love the product and I won't change it but it only needs a little bit of adjustments and improvements to help us designers craft more contemporary designs & works.

What i love about the software is the huge library of tools & effects that allows you to craft beautiful work that gets lot of engagements since we as designers we get hired for building connection between brands & people so this software helps us a lot to communicate a brand's purpose & concept in motion.

What i do not like about the software is that it's kind of limited & hard to use at the same time . You'll literally struggle a little bit at your first year of using the product but after that you'll find your self in it. Also it needs a good computer to run without crashes. Its a multidiscipline software thats why it uses a lot of CPU.

There's a reason this is an industry standard software, and you'll find it in just about any post production or editing workflow, and beyond. It's extremely powerful, customizable, and is a real workhorse when it comes to compositing and motion graphics. You can also go even more in depth and do basic character animation and things like that as well. In the right hands, there's really no limit to what you can do with it.

This is my go to software when I need to do simple animations or any kind of motion graphics and compositing. It's very flexible and powerful when it comes to these types of things. You're really only limited by your imagination. Adding plugin functionality on top of that, and you just open up more possibilities as to what you can do.

It can be a little clunky and cluttered when you're first starting out. If you don't have much experience with this type of software or workflow, it can be really slow to get started. It's not as intuitive as it probably could be.

I've been using After Effects for over 10 years now, and it's something I wouldn't trade for any other animation software out there. Simply the best. I'd still try to lower the entry price, but overall, it's great.

I love the ease with which I can do my Motion Graphics Work.

Even tho the software is amazing, I'd say the only and worse downside would be the pricing - it's still quite pricy, especially considering there are free alternatives out there, but perhaps not as robust as After Effects.
