This service is hands down the easiest way to save and analyze any activity regarding your AWS environment.

Whenever you need any metric to be audited regarding your AWS account or the services that run under it, just create a custom trail that fulfills your needs and CloudTrail will immediately start to save logs. You can inspect from permissions to SDKs.

There is nothing to dislike. In the begging we had issues managing audit access for our stakeholders, later on, we started to export the logs, and everything run flawlessly after this.

Cloudtrail is important to monitor activities across multiple resources - such as programmatic changes that were made to resources or even bad actors since it fully logs all activities on AWS resources (such as various DBs).

The biggest challenge with using Cloudtrail is effectively filtering for activity you're interested in. This is more from the nature of the problem than Cloudtrail itself. The thoroughness of the information being logged within Cloudtrail includes quite a bit of information that is not necessarily relevant for incident management.

I like the way in which AWS Cloudtrail helps in compliance with various SOX audit protocols which leads to higher governance standards. It also helps in troubleshooting issues with much easiness. Also it is very easy to keep all the records related to changes without too much effort.

The Cost is on a higher side, if the cost is rationalized with other audit trail software's, it might become a market leader

The service provides detailed information about each event, including the source IP address, user identity, and event details, making it simple to troubleshoot issues and track down the root cause of problems

With this software our organization is able to track history of changes that occurred in the AWS account and caused operational problem. It was easy to integrate. But for someone new in cloud services it will take sometime to figure out how things work. It made easy troubleshooting issues. Earlier it would take hours and then also we were not confident that this change caused error. We are happy using this services.

Things that I feel missing is user interface because we need to send logs elsewhere to view them. Cost increases rapidly with multiple trails on full logging, this can be fixed.

Within my organization organization, there are 100+ users using same account. Sometimes new employees breach the compliance and terminate or update prod services, in order to track who does what we use CloudTrail a lot.

CloudTrail makes it very convenient to audit the API calls made by any user or service in the account when number of users are more.Also, you can make your organization complaint by setting it up.

It takes a skilled person to set it up, a bit complicated but when use proper tags it becomes easy to use.

The way it tracks the user activity is amazing. It is easy to use & integrate.Can track the api calls.

Some times it is very slow , may be only for me or for all. And the costs is not direct.
