Dropbox Software

Dropbox is a cloud-based file sharing software system that caters to individuals and businesses of all sizes. This solution allows users to share files and send file requests to people even if they don’t have a Dropbox account. Multiple users can leave comments on files and can collaborate with Microsoft Office.

The solution can recover deleted files and maintains version histories in case users want to recover old file versions. It also keeps track of all actions performed on specific files.

Advanced sharing enables only selected users to see important files, and files can be remotely wiped if sensitive data gets compromised. Dropbox can also back up all photos as they are added.

Dropbox also provides an admin panel to control files centrally. User licenses, content and access permissions can be transferred from one user to the other.

I have used dropbox for years and have really liked it. I tried gmail, sharefile, office 365 and I like Dropbox more.

Pros

Dropbox is extremely intuitive and have never had an issue with losing documents, spreadsheets etc.

Cons

I do not have any cons. It has never failed me. I am not sure it the least expensive solution out there so that may be a con.

Ideally, Dropbox would partner with GoToMyPC so you could use one tool to get documents off a device and then modify it in the cloud, automatically saving it in both places when finished.

Pros

Dropbox makes it easy to share documents, photos, etc. and (so far) has been secure. If used correctly, it makes it easy to make comments on documents for others to read, sending comments to email so colleagues are notified. It also makes it easy to redline, share, and store documents. It's also very easy to restore previous versions, or just look at them. I like this much better than Google docs.

Cons

Juggling multiple accounts - like work and personal - can be a pain, but it isn't terrible. Another annoyance is if you want to have the same document on a hard drive and in Dropbox you have to save it twice. It would be cool if there was a query asking if the user wants to save the document in both places simultaneously, warning, of course, that it will write over the document on the hard drive just in case the user wants multiple versions of the document. I just find it annoying to have to save a document twice - once in my laptop folder and once in Dropbox - so that I'm working from the same version when I don't have my laptop and need to access a file.

Pros

Easy to use and share files. You can download an app or software to your device. Synced very good. It also saves history versions of the files. This function helps me recover several old documents.
If you share files with coworkers. It pops out notifications when they made change to the files

Cons

Limited free storage. I won't recommend you to open a document online and work on it in a browser.

Definitely an industry standard!

Pros

I use Drop box to sync my writing from one device to another. I like it because I don't have to give a ton of my storage space on my ipad or phone to housing the docs on each individual device and then manually syncing them later. Dropbox has a great ability to interact with more sophisticated software.

Cons

I also use Google Docs because the functionality of having the full suite of products just makes things easier. So, I don't use Dropbox for everything.

Pros

Makes it really easy to create a folder with different files whether it be music or photos and then easily share the folder with multiple people

Cons

There are other storage apps out there that don't limit you as much as far as space. I'm out of space on DropBox currently and am being told to upgrade

Lots of other options, Box.com, OneDrive, etc

Pros

Dropbox uses a nice agent on the PC to sync it's folder to their cloud
Dropbox uses 256-bit encryption for the files in their cloud, and also now encrypts data in motion (as the file is transferred to or from their cloud to your PC (originally, this was not the case)
Free version for personal use

Cons

Still has the stigma that it is not secure, though I believe it now is
If you share a file with someone else using Dropbox, that person does not need a dropbox account... can be nice, but might be better is they needed an account for better security (could be a pro or a con)

Overall I have been quite satisfied with Dropbox I have only used the free storage I have not had aproblem with running out of room

Pros

Being able to access my files from anywhere using multiple platforms and devices. Especially iPhone access. Pictures and PDF files are easy to open. It's like having your own server for files.

Cons

The price for business use is fairly steep. It isn't a factor if you use the free storage they provide.

Pros

I've used it since university for my schoolwork. Now, it's the main tool we use at my office for sharing files. I'm in the insurance business, and my office shares with us all the most recent forms, FAQ sheets, promotions, etc.

Cons

Sometimes the desktop version doesn't update with shared files, and I have to go to the online version, to see and download the files. Sometimes, I share something, and the other person can see it, until I send the precise link.

It works better than what we have now (google team drives) but still isn't our favorite software. I would recommend it for the most part.

Pros

It's super easy to share documents across the organization. Where Dropbox really shines is sharing inside and outside of your organization. We also have used Google Drive in the past and it's great for coordination but sharing outside of a Team Google Drive is near impossible and not scaleable. UI is fairly easy to figure out, pretty straight forward.

Cons

We've had some issues with bugs and also with finding our way around the software. Usually we can figure it out pretty quickly but they are there. We also have had issues when it comes to logging in and having it trying to upload all of your documents or download all of the documents from Dropbox to your computer. Probably user error there, though.

Once you're used to use dropbox it can be a really great tool to share files with others.

Pros

Dropbox is really great to those who need "cloud space". The best thing is the feature that enables you to connect dropbox to your PC and access your files even when you are offline, which is great in case you lost connection and still needs your files to work.

Cons

The design is not that easy to use and it could be more clean. Besides, if you're not willing to pay it at all you will have to settle for less GB of storage.

I enjoyed using Dropbox because I had to type some MP3 files and a member from my Church email it to me on a shared drive. I found it easy to use and files were in order. I type the files and sent back to the member of my church and we could see the files all at one time. I thought Dropbox was a good name to use to drop it over to me.

Pros

Dropbox was an easy and effective program to use. It was user friendly, organized and a shared program.

Love that the annual fee includes a huge storage that will take us forever to fill even with my camera trigger happy ways. Easy to share files and folders with others too. Love that I can select folders or files to sync with my computer too.

Cons

However it’s terrible if you wish to view a selection of photos. The thumbnails are small and you’ll have to see each photo at a time. Also, it doesn’t tell you you’re saving duplicates. I’ve had to spend a lot of time removing them one by one cos thumbnails are too small to do several at a time.

Outside of the technical service, my experience with Dropbox has been good, has met the needs and has been useful to work together and see in real time the changes that are made, it is highly recommended as long as you have the money to invest in the paid version to have more storage.

Pros

Dropbox is a very powerful tool even one of the most powerful in its area that exists in the market and today the synchronization that exists between the devices and the dropbox account makes it very important, the advantages that I like most about dropbox business are that it has centralized administration that is to say that it has the right to give or discharge to whoever wants it as required, you can also give and remove permits, that is, the permit is totally customizable, the double factor security is very, very good and also has a feature that I like very much and is that it keeps backup copies of everything for at least 120 days and so it is possible to recover anything that we lose.

Cons

I think that the technical support is bad, in the occasions in which I have tried to consult them, I have not had an answer from the technical team, and on the other hand the payment can be somewhat high since the free version is too short for business needs.

Overall, dropbox is a huge asset to our business when it comes to sending and sharing files.

Pros

We use dropbox within our business to upload and share files with different departments. It is great for that use and makes things very convenient. We have very large files that we need to share at any point in time and drop box makes that possible.

Cons

We have found that dropbox tends to slow down our computers when it is running. But as long as we disable it temporarily, things are fine.

Secured storage of all vital documents in the office and of course, the ability to access every file I need for my daily office task remotely.

Pros

I like that all files saved on Dropbox is encrypted and this ensures only authorized people have access to our files.
I like the ease of file sharing which Dropbox provides everyone in my organization, making file sharing a matter of a link : thus saving everyone the stress of attaching files to emails.

Cons

I think Dropbox is too expensive. This thought of mine is better buttressed when I look at the pricing of substitute storage cloud platforms.

I love the desktop/online synchonization. Dropbox has provided me with the fastest way to host an image online (in order to create a shareable link): drag the image to my Dropbox folder on my desktop, click my Dropbox shortcut icon on my menu bar, go to Dropbox online, and create a link for the image I just saved.

I also love that you can restore deleted files. I have had to use that feature at least once, and it brought relief from minor panic.

Cons

I wish you could click "Next" while viewing an image in full screen to go to the next image/file, rather than having to close it and click the next image/file.

I sent image and video files for external editors to use in video projects mostly.

Pros

If you have a ton of photos you want to upload for a project and share and you don't want to overwhelm someone's inbox (or, more likely, their inbox can't handle that many gigs), Dropbox is the perfect solution. I've shared hundreds of files, documents, portfolios and videos using Dropbox.

Cons

Occasionally, because I didn't use it every day, I'd forget how to organize the files within and it would be slightly more time-consuming than normal to send a bunch of photos easily to an external vendor.

Ability to share important office files from one concentrated location, and of course safety of the files and materials shared because it relies on encryption to keep our data exchanges safe from third parties.

Pros

Dropbox impresses me in multiple ways.I like the intuitiveness of its user interface ,ease of access and simple navigational controls.I like that Dropbox is cloud based and thus makes it a breeze for me to access my files from any location and from different devices at the same time.I like its integration capability, particularly that it integrates with Microsoft Office 365,which is one of the most important day to day programs I use at the workplace.

Cons

Dropbox business is overly priced. While it is top draw as regards providing a reliable cloud storage solution for the modern business, there are tens of efficient and more affordable solutions out there and if my organization need to cut costs in future,I will obviously be choosing the cheaper alternatives as against Dropbox more expensive solution.

I would say Dropbox is a little expensive. My job pays for it, but if I were paying out of pocket it would be quite pricey.

Pros

I wanted to find something truly modern and universal. Yes, the application has a fairly wide range of functions, it is quite convenient and accessible, each user has the right to connect an unlimited number of devices to his account, good integration with earlier versions of the program.

Cons

The license applies only to three users. To register and receive a free trial period, you must enter your credit card information, which is accompanied by certain risks. I'm not sure that this is the best solution for the team.

Easy to use once you understand how the system works
Easy, nice view of my files
Easy to share files with others

It was a learning curve for me when I first started using. The first time I tried to download a shared file, I accidentally deleted all the files.

no need for sending email to a huge list of recipients
easy to set up
contains large file formats and able to handle large files

Cons

the outdated gui could stand an update
if it could be accessed from a phone, and then logged into from the phone, that would be better, however, without it meaning that I Have to download drop box ON my phone
