AMAZING! Everyone gets so excited every time we use this tool!

Better collaboration at all our events! Our teams are communicating better now too.

PROS

I have been using YAPP for over 2 years for our global conferences - to get people to engage, get excited, and as a way of reducing printed paper agendas and other print materials. I love the functionality, and how easy it is to upload and use - I have had to test out another event app and that was very difficult to use. I especially love that I can upload a simple CSV file with participant names and that comes up so easily. I really do enjoy working with the tool - and being able to upload files so easily!

CONS

The cost - sometimes I find it high. The only other thing I would say is the way apps are archived so you can't see some from the previous year.

Yapp Review

I had/am having an amazing experience with Yapp. Customer service is exceptional! They always answer very quickly and get back to you with answers to any questions you have (or problems you encounter while editing your app). Shoutout to [sensitive content hidden] at Yapp for all his wonderful help! The user experience was also great. I was easily able to build my app by adding specific features. Yapp also has a help center where you can look up how to complete something (EX: how to upload attendees, overall tips & tricks, etc.)

PROS

Ease of use. Yapp has templated pages to use in the app so you do not have to build anything from scratch. (EX: polls, schedule, agenda, etc.). Additionally, any time you have a change to make to your app, it is completed in real-time and after "publishing" your changes, attendees who downloaded your app will see these new changes the next time they view the app.

CONS

Reporting features are good (EX: app usage, engagement stats) but I feel like a little more can be done here so administrators can dive deeper into the data to analyze.

Reason for choosing Yapp

One big reason was the price (much cheaper compared to Whova and what our company needed at the time).If you need an app for a specific company conference and want your attendees to have information at their fingertips in an easy way, Yapp is a great company to go with!

Use of Yapp for Conference

I have used Yapp for several conferences. I find it very easy to work with and a high adoption rate among users, which decreases our need for printing programs. When users were unsure about using the app instead of a printed program, many return the program after a short time using Yapp. Very convenient for me as the conference planner to have all the information on my phone.

PROS

Yapp is very easy to set-up and does not require technical staff to do so. It is also easy for users. My conferences frequently have attendees with intellectual disabilities and autism and they find it easy to use and helpful.

CONS

Would like to see a little more flexibility in template pages.

The only cost effective solution I have found

Overall, it's a simple platform that helps structure data, display it helpfully, and update it in-realtime for conference attendees. Not as fancy or feature rich as other platforms, but by far the most affordable. Simple and effective.

PROS

It is a very easy solution to use and accomplishes the desire of having a conference "app". Worth the money and can be used simply for data distribution and communication, or you can use more advanced features if desired. Compared to all the other enterprise systems out there, this is the only one that is anywhere affordable for a non-profit event.

CONS

A little more customization on the app pages designed for just content display would be nice, but the more custom you can get the more complex it gets. A few more built-in themes or styles for the app structure/layout would be nice, but again, keeping it simple can actually be a blessing. More dynamic linking of data would be helpful (being able to create instances of items and then link to it throughout the app rather than having to recreate the data on different pages).

An Excellent Choice

PROS

Easy to add information and customize to our needs. Easy to distribute to attendees. Cost is very competitive.

CONS

Some other conference apps seem to have more features (but also cost a fair amount more).

While both looked very nice, they were more expensive. For the features we needed, it wasn't worth transitioning to these options.

Perfect for small nonprofits, with enough bells and whistles to feel special

PROS

I appreciated the ability to upload conference data with a CSV template, which saved so much time. I also felt it was easy to navigate, customizable enough to feel branded, and highly responsive for our needs.

CONS

I wish there were a better way to give speakers access to their speaker profile other than the "claim this page" function it currently uses.

Hopin was not user-friendly, cumbersome, and expensive.

Great price. Simple, clean design with variety of templates to deliver information. Very responsive to questions or issues that need to be reviewed.

I love this product. It's easy to set-up, edits are quick, and deploying updates is a breeze. The users like it because it's simply yet attractive.

Conferences Are A Snap with Yapp!

With the ability to provide all of your conference information prior to their arrival, participants are able to maximize their experience while attending. The app helps organizers and attendees reduce anxiety associated with simple things like locating the registration desk, finding meeting rooms and knowing when and where breaks and lunches will take place.

PROS

The Yapp app is easy to setup, distribute and use. Participants from Baby Boomers to Gen Z attended our recent conference and they were able to download and use the app to see the schedule, read about the speakers and learn about the sponsors and vendors. We were able to change the schedule in real time for outdoor related activities when the weather took a sudden turn for the worse. Sponsors and vendors were very excited to see their logos and links to contact information had been included in their own special sections.

CONS

While you will have to use a minimal amount of creativity to customize your app, it is not difficult in the least. The ability to upload CSV files for sections like sponsors and speakers makes maintaining those sections a breeze when last minute changes are necessary.

Insane bang for your buck.

Fantastic. Love it and look forward to renewing!

PROS

I've worked on custom apps and customizable out of the box apps before that were monumentally more expensive and they paled in comparison to the ease of use and functionality that we found in the Yapp apps. We also had far more engagement with this app than our previous apps. My favorite thing is how you can design "pages" and move them around when you want to highlight one over another. Not being constrained to a traditional model where the developer chooses what they think is the way the app should be designed was really great for us.

CONS

I would like to see the social feeds brought back and expanded. When we signed on, Twitter was still being fed into the app, which would have been cool to see. We didn't think our attendee base would be on board with logging in to be able to share their social posts, but the ability to see our feeds would be really nice -- plus adding our feeds from Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram would have been an added bonus.

Cost was a huge factor for us. We were more willing to go without one until we found the Yapp app.

Reasons for switching to Yapp

Cost was the most important reason, and I didn't realize how clunky and un-user friendly it was until I started using the Yapp app.

A Non-coders Technicolor Dream App

Yapp has been easy to create with, easy to update with, and easy to get answers from their customer service team.

PROS

When we needed to look like "the bigs guys" on a budget, we searched for cost-effective yet powerful app purveyors. Yapp was suggested to me by a web developer as a cost-effective way to promote a conference for a client. From speaker bios, to multi-track event scheduling, and pushing announcements, Yapp delivered the goods and had great customer service. This expanded into a few human resources apps as well.

CONS

The one thing I would like is to have more design control -- multiple branding colors available for different items. The client is frustrated they don't have their logo/icon on the app, but I have tried to explain the ease of using Yapp as the umbrella to get apps pushed through quickly and efficiently

It is worth mentioning the customer service side of Yapp, their response times have been excellent and always willing to come up with a solution. We have not experienced any real problems, but the whole team have always been on hand to provide help and and advice about how to achieve what we have wanted to do. Having this support has been invaluable.

PROS

We use Yapp to share the details of our Arts Festival each year and the application gives us the flexibility to customise the look for the theme each year. Having the ability to clearly show the acts that are happening and include links through to performer details, it all works seamlessly. Following the successful use for the festival, we expanded our use for the induction of our new staff who join the school each year. Giving the ability to new recruits to be able to view information before they arrive, has been a great benefit.

CONS

We have yet to discover any significant flaws in the product and have been very satisfied with what we have been able to implement with the system.

Using the Yapp

PROS

I love that I can schedule announcements. I wish that when I was scheduling them it would schedule for the time my event took place, not where I was scheduling from. I also wish as an admin I could create scheduled posts from within the desktop instead of on the mobile device. I like that the schedule autosplits between the days of the event and that members can post in the social feed like they would on social media.

CONS

Parents and students alike have been extremely happy with the use of the app. Keeping our stakeholder happy in even smaller things boots our performance and job satisfaction with stakeholders.

PROS

Our school uses this app for the many and varied trips our school sponsors for students. We use it for students and maintain a separate one for chaperones. All events, addresses, student information and more are kept in the appropriate apps and allows us to control social media for parents to follow the trip. The customer service is extremely efficient and appreciated. Ease of use is a huge pro.

CONS

Would probably like a bit more customization for event graphics on the cover

Conference App

This app has given us another way for our members to get information and share experiences before, during and after our conference. It has become a very valuable tool and we are very happy as a customer.

PROS

This app is extremely easy to set up and manage. We were looking for a solution to offer our conference attendees that was simple to install and navigate. We use this app as a complement to our full printed program and it allows users to have the entire agenda at their fingertips and in their pockets. We use this app once a year during our annual conference. Our members love having it and the number of installs increases every year. We no longer have to print presentations as they are all accessible under each workshop session menu item. This is extremely valuable as many times there are last minute changes to not only presentations but other documents we provide as well. This app is perfect for our event and our members. We love it!

CONS

It's very hard to come up with a list of things I like "least" as this pretty much meets our current needs.

Create fun and easy to use plan

We enjoy the ease of use and having our own app we feel sets us apart from those who are still handing out paperwork. Plus it is better for the environment!

PROS

We have used the app for meetings/conventions to have all information readily available. It is easy to get a change out to all users, and we even used it for a fun scavenger hunt!

CONS

It can be slow to load at times, and some experience crashing issues, but it has not been an across the board issue.

Highly Recommend YAPP for conference Management

Very positive experience, convenient, allows good interaction with over 200 participants

We have used your application for the past three years with much success. Your application allows us to structure the work of our Conferences, which are attended by over 200 people from across the FSU. It allows us to interact with the participants through the schedule, sharing experiences and photos from the events. Thank you so much for such a high-quality and professional development, and convenient tool for our work

Ease of Use for the Win!

We are extremely pleased with Yapp, as were our conference attendees -- comments included "very user friendly" and "I like this! Very easy to use!".

PROS

Developing our conference Yapp app was very straight-forward, with many features for adding text, logos, links, videos, documents, etc. I appreciated the ease in updating the app before, during and after the conference. And the announcement feature proved very useful during the conference. Attendees were happy with the Mobile App -- with 94% rating it as either "Excellent" or "Good."

CONS

We utilized Yapp for two virtual conferences, and a true desktop version of Yapp would have been incredibly helpful as most were participating from their desktops/laptops rather than on a mobile device.

Yapp for Annual Conference

Very positive!

PROS

The simplicity of the app is what we liked best. Attendees were able to download with just a link or QR code, they didn’t have to type in a special code. Once in the app, the features were straightforward and allowed us to customize as much as we wanted. We decided to keep the features simple so that it was a reliable resource and not overwhelming.

CONS

Figuring out how to feature our sponsors digitally was a little bit of a challenge. Traditionally we would have a paper agenda packet with different size ads for each sponsor level, but it was hard to create a hierarchy for ads in the app.

Inexpensive app for your event.

The app was easy to build and use for the attendees. There are no bells and whistles and once an attendee "claims" their profile if they are a speaker, you lose the ability to update that profile.

PROS

The software was easy to build and use for both the builder and attendee side.

CONS

Not able to schedule notifications / announcements ahead of time.

One strategy there could be to use separate person records for the attendee page and speaker page, so that the attendee record can be claimed and updated but the speaker profile stays in your control. PROS

We utilize Yapp for various conferences held under our agency that users may attend many of. One of the great features is that the conferences are stored in the app itself and they are able to jump between conferences and simply update content instead of redownloading a new app for each conference.Also, Conferences are EASY to set up and manage.

It does not integrate with Cvent, our event management system. For our registrants to have to select their sessions on our reg site and then to have to re-build that schedule once they got the app was an extra step our registrants did not appreciate.

Love, Love, Love, Love this app...

PROS

This app is easy to use, intuitive, able to publish and make changes immediately without having to use a 3rd party/CS agent. I have used apps that are more expensive but have so many limitations on it that I always come back to Yapp. I can find work arounds for almost anything that i need. Additionally, my end users love using it - they love uploading photos and chatting with each other.
