Great solution for EDI files!

After researching software products to parse complex files, such as EDI X12, we found that all of the products that we evaluated were expensive, complicated, had a steep learning curve, and required expertise EDI knowledge (that our organization did not possess). We simply did not have the resources to engage these products. We changed the focus of our search and found Chiapas. Chiapas was a game changer for our project as it solved all of the issues that the other products presented. Within 2 weeks of finding Chiapas, we were loading 820, 834, 837I, and 837P files into our brand new claims data warehouse. Chiapas benefits: - Simple and flexible license structure - Straight forward technical design that makes getting data in/out simple and safe - Minimal learning curve, really does work right out of the box - Does not require extensive technical knowledge. Anyone with SQL skills can install, configure, and operate Chiapas. - Does not require extensive EDI knowledge. The Chiapas documentation made it super easy to map the EDI segments to our database w/o having to know all of the loops and modifiers. Just search for key words such as patient or procedure to find the corresponding column names. An 837I file can be mapped in an afternoon. - Efficient processing, resulting in short elapsed times and modest hardware requirements. - Extremely low total cost of ownership.

PROS

Simplicity.

CONS

I wish it could parse HL7 and FHIR files as well as X12.

Great product that works out of the box. A must have for companies with EDI processes.

The Chiapas 2014 is an excellent tool to help create end user visibility in the world of EDI processing. This product provides a platform that parses EDI files into manageable reporting formats in just a matter of minutes. I look forward to working with Chiapas to utilize full automation in the sending/receiving of EDI files to our B2B partners. I highly recommend this product to any enterprise business that deals with EDI processes as part of their business model.
