Housecall Pro is a cloud-based field service management app for service professionals to automate their workflows. This solution includes a native mobile app and complementary web portal and serves a wide range of industries, such as cleaning, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and more.

Housecall Pro allows companies to forego paperwork in favor of digital automation. It offers features such as job scheduling, dispatching, payment processing, estimates, automated receipts and invoices, customer notifications, company chat, as well as postcard and email marketing automation.

Customers can book services via the HouseCall mobile app, communicate through a centralized messaging system and make online payments.

The mobile app can be accessed on both Android and iOS devices. There is a free version for single owner/operators, which offers many of the core features of the paid version. Premium pricing is based on the number of users, and an enterprise license is also available.

This solution is available across the U.S. and Canada.

Overall a good software for a small/growing company.

Pros

Customer service representatives are always available to help in chat. Super easy to use. Able to upload helpful documents/notes/photos to every job. I can see where my techs are at every point of the day and what the duration of each job is. The reporting feature is great and I can customize it using the tag system to get whatever information I need.

Cons

I cannot change the name of the photos I upload so I have to put them in a certain order to figure out which one is which, and it is inefficient.

Pros

Housecall pro is a great product, not only as a business but also as a consumer. You can manadge your business and team from anywhere with your smartphone. It's super easy to communicate with clients and staff and it has crm tools integrated in the software that easier controlling the agenda, reminding clients of your services and keeping track of your progress.

Cons

Transitioning from a traditional business setup, with lots of paper and I formation placed in various forms to this cloud based software takes time and patience. But it's definitely worth it.

Pros

Activities entered into Housecall Pro as an invoice are synced over to QBO very seamlessly. Like the dashboard that shows open and outstanding invoices, job status and time tracking.

Cons

Adjustments are needed at times, but it's pretty simple to make QBO correct, which is where most of the reporting is done. Would like to see the time tracking work more like a time sheet you could use at the end of the week for payroll.

Love this program and would definitely recommend this to any business.

Pros

So simple, clean, and easy to use while still a very powerful software. As a young business manager with a new company, this program allowed me to prove myself with its implementation. Allows for total insight into abstract details of the business with the dynamic dashboard. Complete ease of use, helps me in processing payroll with the clock in/clock out time tracking feature. Customer service chat almost always responds in less than 5 minutes - takes some getting used to for chatting in instead of calling, but honestly, chatting is so much better. Quick responses, no annoying hold music, can do other things while you wait for their response.

Cons

Nothing as of yet. I just finished configuring everything and getting all of our information off of the old program and on to this one, so I will update if/when I have any cons.

The software is Time saver, a great multi tasking tool, creates any report, easy to learn, great lead tracking system.

Cons

Email automation option can only be schedule after the job is accepted the option cannot be used before acceptance of the job therefore there is not good for us that we do a lot of follow up of the estimate, no option to search by estimate or job number directly we have to search for the customer in order to have access to the estimate of jobs

Pros

It's simple to use yet powerful. Our customers love the notifications they receive letting them know we are on the way. We love the ability to set tags and see job and payment status. The chat support from HouseCall Pro has been wonderful. And, their team is always responsive and creative in helping us come up with solutions to our specific business needs.

Cons

We have an extensive inventory list. This took us a while to set up. However, we knew this before making our decision to transition to HouseCall Pro. In the end we're getting a custom catalog. So, it's been well worth the effort.

Our previous system was outdated and offered no customization or detailed history so this makes a big difference. This hit all of our major needs as well as many of our wants. It's simple enough that someone without a lot of tech/app experience can jump right into using it. Their are useful video tutorials if they want more assistance.

Pros

Being able to see customer history is a big thing for us - I can go to the customer and see all of the times we've been out. Seeing real time updates is a huge plus - I can see photos from the job site and notes immediately after our tech submits them in the field which means we can start ordering parts or anything else we need to do right away. Scheduling is easy and our techs get updates on their phone with all of the info they need right away. I like customizing employees photos and colors so visually the schedule is easy to tell who is scheduled before even clicking to get detail. The start and finish button are fantastic. One of the most useful features beyond basic scheduling is job tags and the ability to run reports. I can export our appointment data and sort it so we can really see where our time is being spend and how. Customer support/chat is really helpful.

Cons

There are a few features and functions that we would like that are not currently offered - fortunately they welcome feedback and do take our requests as considerations for future updates

I love the ability of keeping the customer "in the loop". They know when their appointment is, they also get notification that our tech is on the way (along with his name). They get invoices digitally, and estimates get sent digitally, giving them the ability to accept or decline the estimate right there online.

Cons

I wish that the conversations in the app between the customer and the technician would be made a part of the customer file and accessible through back-office end.

The customer service support is very good with training someone new to the software. HCP has a lot of easy training videos.

Pros

The HCP software is great for our carpet, upholstery and rug cleaning business. It makes it easy to send estimates, schedule jobs and follow up with our clients. It raises the bar for customer service and communication. We love the way it syncs seamlessly with Quickbooks and saves us a ton of bookkkeeping time. Absolutely love this software and it’s improving all the time as the HCP team keeps listening to its clients and adds relevant feature and functionality improvements.

Cons

I only wish there was a better way to keep track of clients that are on a waiting list. We get booked up for 2-3 weeks and have a ton of people who go on a waiting list. I use another software program to do these client call back reminders or add jobs on the “wait list”.

HCP has brought our business to the next level. We have been using the software for two years and have a very basic plan. Before HCP, we were keeping our appointments in a spiral calendar and customer information was difficult to maintain. With HCP, we have been able to better track our customer activity and history. One of the newer features that I find interesting is the lifetime value of the customer. This is giving us some insight into how much revenue our customers generate. I am considering upgrading to the next level of HCP to begin accessing some of the marketing tools that HCP promotes.

Pros

I like the ease of use for employees and users in the field. It is simple, yet allows our company to be in contact with our customers. From the office perspective, we have reduced how many invoices we are sending the mail significantly. Our customers like receiving e-mails from us, including the invoices. The portal for payment is easy to use. There has been a significant increase in online payments through the portal.

Our employees find the app easy to use and the location services make it easy for them to find our customers homes.

Cons

The times on the schedule page, need to somehow be highlighted or the top of the hour bolded. It is really difficult to schedule an appointment on the week view for Friday, because the time is in the far left margin.

I would love to have the ability to make comments on the time card section. That way when I need to make a change to an employee's time card, I can also note why the change was made.

The way that the credit card payments integrate with quickbooks is frustrating, as I have to go to each transaction and manually change where it posts the payment. I would like to have the ability to designate where the payment goes. In addition, it would be nice to change the QB display name on HCP ourselves, instead of talking with customer support. One more thing, can payments affecting more than one invoice be posted as one payment, versus each individual invoice. This would make processing deposits so much easier.

The app is more on the challenging side to use especially for people not technologically advanced. Sort of hard to navigate and understand. Also, for desktop version an event that is created for an all day event you cant see. Its hidden at the very top and there seems to be no way to adjust. Please advise.

It's a great started program and new features have been added quickly to fit our needs. It's not spot on yet, but we can see that they are working to get it there! They are very welcoming of new ideas and improvements.

Pros

Ease of use for the techs in the field. Compared to other software we tried, Housecall Pro is the easiest to use from our mobile devices. We don't have to use any paper, which is awesome! This way all of the work gets done in real time.

Cons

Three day view on the iPad app instead of a five day view. For reporting: when we filter by job tags we have to go into the invoice to manually calculate each type of service to compare monthly totals.

I like that the software is easy to use and reports can be pulled with a few setting changes and saved for future use. I also like having the ability to change the order of viewed information on the dashboard.

Cons

I do not like that you can not remove unneeded boards from the dashboard. I also do not like that there is not warranty option. The estimate feature is very useful as is the invoice creator however we do not create invoices for warranties and I would like to see an option to create warranty board so that we are not effecting our invoice numbers.

I like the features stated, I'm still setting up.

Cons

I'm a commercial contractor and everyone reads it out loud that we are redirecting to House . Why can't you load less residential? No one is buying software because a domain name loads. I'm still working on set up but I would like to control who has access to my calendar. I wouldn't be totally opposed to market to the public but I can't go out to every customer at the same price and or terms.

We can bring up a customer and see all the history. It also is a great scheduling tool.

Pros

The ease of use, daily tasks are easy to get done.

Cons

Reports are not easy to build, or I do not understand how to do it. The other thing is somethings that I have on my laptop is not avilable on the mobile app and that is sometimes a problem.

The amount of features it had. The fact that I didn't have to spend hours doing billing and receiving. I was quickly able to enter a few things in the computer for confirmation. Extremely pleased. The only reason I had to close my account is the fact that I'm closing my business due to peoples inability to work hard and to take pride in their work.

Cons

Sometimes I was confused about where to find something in my calendar

Housecall integrates Quickbooks and takes payments, which is a huge plus for my business.

Pros

It's features are simple and to the point.

Cons

I would like there to be a notes section (in addition to the one they have) where you can see what note was posted by whom and on what day. A thread.

I am not a computer savvy person and the only place we have struggled before HCP was invoicing and scheduling. After only 3 weeks of using this has all become a lot easier to run my business. I am still learning it, but they are here for me anytime I run into a problem. That means the world to me.
