Mobile and Easy to use
Overall we have a very positive experience. customer service is responsive and friendly. Our account rep is very accessible. Matrixcare has regular webinars about upcoming software changes, upgrades, planned features as well as industry changes, new laws, regulations and how the system is aware of them and incorporating them. They really understand what home health care needs, how it is constantly changing and can be state specific as well. They make sure they are on top of industry needs.
PROSThe clinical staff have the whole patient record at their fingertips and with a web based program, the managers and office staff can work remotely from anywhere. New staff learn the software quickly. The checks and balances in the system help us meet all the home health care regulations and maintain compliance with physician orders. Upgrades are deployed automatically and we do not have to maintain a server. We can fax directly out of the system and receive faxes directly into the medical record for efficiency.
CONSThe company continues to make developments and add new features and capabilities. It helps us keep up with industry changes. A more efficient process to change payers and convert medications and care plans to the new chart would be ideal.
Reason for choosing MatrixCare Private Duty
We wanted a system that had a few major features-web based, ability for field staff to have "live" data and sync form anywhere, ability to add paper or faxed documents into the electronic medical record, ease of use for field staff and improved efficiency of training new staff and overall reduce agency cost.
Reasons for switching to MatrixCare Private Duty
Or old system was cumbersome, expensive and we had to do much of the upgrades, server maintenance ourselves. It was difficult for new staff members to learn it. It had to be on a laptop which is more costly than the tablets we can use now. Adding cell service was not practical on the old system for field staff to have the ability to securely sync their devices wherever they were. We could not upload documents in to the old system. Industry changes were not always understood by or old EMR, but was difficult to et information or answers about if the software would be ready for impending changes in mandated assessment forms, etc. Upgrades often came out one day before a major regulation went into affect. It felt like a system built for another segment of the healthcare industry that was superimposed into home health. Matrixcare is a home health solution and it shows.

MatrixCare is good but company is too big and they are less responsive to customers
Currently they have helped with how we communicate and work with our Caregivers during the Covid-19 pandemic.
PROSThe ability to have scheduling, billing, and payroll all in one system. Integration into our HR system works well. It's relatively easy to use and teach new employees.
CONSRegulatory payroll rules for certain states. The software doesn't work well for a large Enterprise organization like ours. Enhancements are very difficult to get done and general responsiveness to our needs has diminished since the acquisition by Resmed.
Reason for choosing MatrixCare Private Duty
At the time (2013) it was smaller and had the attention of the owner and developer. It met most of our needs back then.
Reasons for switching to MatrixCare Private Duty
Back in 2013 when we converted, Appointmate couldn't carry overtime.

Good solid, stable product that will only get better with time
I would say my experience has been very positive. They have a very strong team, and are devoted to customer satisfaction. There are a bunch of enhancement ideas being rolled out, and they are very willing to listen and implement changes.
PROSI do like the functionality, things are not piece mealed together. There are a lot of options for enhancements, which MatrixCare seems very open to. The customer service is absolutely phenomenal, usually closing out tickets within a day or two.
CONSSometimes I wonder about the ease of use for the clinicians in the field. There are certain things that clinicians are not able to do as the software doesnt allow the functionality. Clinicians drive our value, therefore it is important for them to see patients and focus on patient care, and not spend time worrying about how to document it.
Reason for choosing MatrixCare Private Duty
Honestly, I think it came down to the willingness for MatrixCare to be partners. We did not want just a software vendor, we wanted someone that we could be strategic business partners and innovate together. MatrixCare is definitely delivering.

MatrixCare Home Health & Hospice Review
We have seen a significant reduction in turnover as well as a reduction in direct cost per visit, software cost per visit and mileage cost per visit. Cash collections have improved. Where we have seen in increase in cost is in HH indirect administrative salaries as we have found it more effective to replace clerical staff with clinical staff in the branch offices due to the process and user permission flow in MatrixCare.
PROSThe reporting in MatrixCare is very flexible and easy to use. All reports download perfectly into Excel for filtering, sorting or summarizing. This reporting provides clear insight into where the agency is doing well and where the process is bottlenecking. Clinical staff report ease-of-use on iPads in the field.
CONSWhen software release updates are done oftentimes functions working well before the updates no longer work as intended. Software Support is slow with follow-up often required from the customer.
Reason for choosing MatrixCare Private Duty
We created a scorecard and compared each software to our needs. MatrixCare was very thorough in completing their scorecard and best met our needs.
Reasons for switching to MatrixCare Private Duty
We were looking to reduce time spent by field staff after hours, improve reporting and reduce costs

Interoperability
MatrixCare really is the Leading Post-Acute Software system. They are engaged and very open to new ideas and changes. The support team responds almost immediately and the Customer Support Management is Amazing..... Thank you [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN].
PROSMatrixCare is focused on the patients and communicating with Health Care Organizations through the CommonWell. This feature is amazing and provides immediate access for Health Care Providers to retrieve information regarding their patients who have been admitted to Home Health or Hospice.
CONSMatrixCare has limited abilities to customize their software. This could be a pro or a con but I have found that sometimes regulatory changes are not the same across the board and sometimes we need a feature that may have been discontinued.

Brightree (Hospice) has added numerous functionalities to improve, enhance, and streamline clinical charting for patients. Brightree iPad app has reduced the charting time for clinicians while adding the functionality for the Hospice Aids to complete their tasks in a paperless environment, hence eliminate the need for scanning and uploading. The account managers are always available and willing to help, their teamwork and cooperation are second to none.
PROSiPad app for Clinicians, Physicians, and Hospice Aids saves time, reduces printing/scanning/uploading while improving accuracy. Account Managers cooperation and willingness to help is impressive.

Regulatory Compliance
We use Brightree for both Home Health and Hospice. We chose Brightree a few years ago after having a bad experience with another vendor. We looked at four vendors and chose Brightree with hopes it would deliver as promised. We were looking for software that would support clinical field staff, office staff, managers, and billing. Brightree has exceeded our expectation. Since using Brightree we have opened multiple locations and recently expanded to other states. Brightree has help make each of these transitions very easy. I would recommend Brightree to anyone who would like a software that does it all while keeping your agency compliant.
