Easy to use, great videos, good customer support. So easy to use and so cheap in comparison to other major payroll providers

We have to pay extra to link it to the new NEST pension scheme introduced by the government last year. It would be good if this was included in the price.

Very good on the whole, I'm still using it after 15 years so it is obviously doing something right.

This company is now owned by Iris. For experienced users of payroll this is a straightforward program to use. Started using it 15 years ago when it was an independent company and it was second to none. It got taken over by Iris a few years ago, so not surprisingly the price has increased (doubled in last 5 years), but it still represents reasonable value for small payroll bureaus and accountancy practices. It is easy to add new clients and the payroll works for everything I've come across in small employer payrolls over the last 15 years (including auto enrolment).

Obviously the value is not as good as it was, but this happens when a good independent product gets taken over by one of the big boys. Also, the Iris 'auto enrolment' reporting module is clumsy and not easy to use - I've given up using it and use the pension company's reporting templates. Finally, the online support, which was excellent when the company was independent, is sadly lacking. Fortunately I haven't often needed the support so it has not been an issue, but for people who like an adequate level of support, this product may not be for you.

Recently - appalling!

Initially, fairly straightforward to use

Until a month ago I thought the software was ok. However, I have found serious errors in reporting. Last year I notified 12Pay of miscalculation issue with AEOs. Now I find an issue with publishing payslips - a random number and never the correct number of employees are selected to publish. At this time I was running a virtual PC and support are adamant that this is the problem, which I find hard to believe. I now use a PC and the pension report is incorrect. Employees who make AVCs are only showing their AVC and not the 'ees or 'ers contributions! Support say they are aware of the problem which should be rectified in the next release, but they don't know when that will be. So I will have to manually calculate!!! So much for HMRC compliant software!!

I switched from using my accountant to do my payroll to doing it myself with 12Pay and it has been fantastic. As a small business I was being charged what seemed a ridiculous amount for payroll services, I was recommended 12Pay by a friend who owns a similar sized business and haven't looked back since. Once set up, managing payroll is a breeze and being able to send the monthly details directly to HMRC is so useful (The paid version even allows you to pay your PAYE tax directly to HMRC as well). Would thoroughly recommend 12Pay for anyone that wants help managing their own payroll.

Free version still offers massive functionality. Once set up, 12Pay is very easy to use. Submit monthly payroll to HMRC with just two clicks.

A little fiddly to begin with, try to find someone already set up[ to assist you or use the online help and guides. Layout can be a little complicated to begin with.

Good program

Easy to use very user friendly and installs steps are simple. Once installed the program is very useful.

It can be stressful sometimes when theres troubleshooting and so on. It was difficult to obtain help from the software company.
