Fool Proof 401k Platform
Human Interest has been a wonderful solution for our team to have full control over their 401k contributions in a simple, intuitive, fool-proof platform.
PROS- Integrates seamlessly with HR platform (Rippling)- Easy to adjust your asset allocation, contributions percentage, and even to classify contributions as Roth and/or Traditional
CONSWhile the client portal is easy to use overall, investment tracking leaves some things to be desired. Notably, it would be nice to view my investments graphically, to track market gains vs. personal (and/or company) contributions, and to see a performance breakdown of each investment.

Easy rollout with great service
I had never implemented a 401k as an employer before and they were very thorough on explaining the options for our small company. It's very nuanced and confusing, but we're happy with the plan we chose.
PROSThe set up and management is SIMPLE. It integrates with our payroll.
CONSNone to speak of. It's simple and straightforward for our 12 employees.
Reason for choosing Human Interest
Betterment didn't offer the human touch or demo.

I wish I wasn't forced to use this product
I've never had a problem like this with any other 401k management platform. My entire experience has been incredibly sub-par and I wish I wasn't forced into this option.
PROSIt seems to integrate easily with Rippling and was thus probably easy for my employers to set up.
CONSBesides the fact this application is humorously simplified (and poorly designed), the biggest issue is their customer service. A company I had a 401(k) with was shutting down and I wanted to migrate that 401(k) to another HUMAN INTEREST 401(k). They asked me to fill out a form, I heard nothing for 3 weeks so I checked in and apparently I had filled out one field incorrectly and the form was rejected. No notification or anything. No worries they say, just re-submit with the field filled out correctly. I re-submitted and still never heard anything after a couple weeks, so checked in again. Apparently I didn't submit in time (even though it was less then 48 hours after they replied to me). They auto-migrated my funds to an unknown manager where I have yet to be able to log in and request to transfer my funds BACK to Human Interest. This should not be this hard - they're working with startups that are shutting down and employees shifting constantly. They should be able to complete this process as easily as their competitors.

Been Using Human Interest for a Couple of Years
I've been very pleased with the Human Interest since my company switched over to them from a local provider, and they have been very transparent both with their fees and their updates on a pay period basis.
PROSI think the dashboard is the most simple yet effective part of the software - you can balance your contribution rate, check your history, check your historical returns, rebalance your portfolio, and track updates from the main screen.
CONSI wish there were a few more funds to choose from, but overall they have a lot of vanguard funds (your most straight forward equity ones), so that's a plus as those have low expense ratios.

Good enough to get started
Overall I'm positive about Human Interest. I prefer having access to advanced options, features, and reporting when I need it. Although I like that Human Interest's product is focused and in its own way delightfully simple, I wish it made it easier to answer questions about portfolio performance on-demand instead of waiting for quarterly reports.
PROSHuman interest is pretty simple to use as an individual user. It offers simple options that aim to make it easy to save towards retirement.
CONSHuman Interest lacks advanced features for accounting, data import/export, and portfolio performance or adjustment. It's definitely positioned to help people that are new to investing get started, but it doesn't seem to have as much support for more advanced use cases.

Easy to use 401(k) management
Sleek and easy to use interface, with the most important information presented up front. Simple to see what is going on with your investment accounts at a glance and make any changes quickly. Support is responsive and helpful.
CONSIt was difficult to merge an old 401(k) managed by Human Interest with a new one earlier this year, but this seems to have been improved with new menu options under "Rollover".

Avoid this company at all costs
Slow, unresponsive customer service that refuses to give actual answers. I've been amazed at their ability to take weeks and still not answer questions related to account termination. Can't stress enough for business owners to never use this company.
PROSGood integration with Rippling. Their wet it and forget it investment strategy is fine and works for many.
CONSAfter closing our company 401k account after the company was sold the staff have all had terrible experiences trying to migrate their funds to other accounts. As the company owner, 8 months later I still cannot get my funds from them. They refuse to wire funds to a new provider and their goal is to have you move funds to their alternative company. I've had employees in tears in my office trying to move funds but the barriers Human Interest puts up to move funds should be illegal. This company should be avoided at all costs.

Terrible product
If I could give zero stars i would. Nothing but problems from this service.Slow processing of funds and contributions, and even slower for customer support: they take 3 weeks to a month to work on any of your requests. 2 weeks to get an answer on if i can get a distribution, a week and half for that issue to be solved after, and now 2 weeks of waiting for said distribution which I still don't have. I've wasted a month doing what Guideline does for you in a day. If your employer uses Human Interest, I would sign up with a different service.Terrible experience would not recommend.
PROSThis product was probably cheap for my employers.
CONSOver simplified portal design with little options for users, and slow processing for everything.

Decent benefits vendor, but be careful
Honestly, we went with HI because we're in the cannabis compliance space & most traditional benefits platforms won't work with us just due to our adjacency to the market. We're happy to have a friendly option, and probably 85-90% of the time things work as advertised, but there seem to be messes on the backend that take a lot of patient cleanup.
PROSThe employee-facing side of this platform is really good. From the POV of trying to manage cash that's already been transferred to the platform, you have a wide degree of control over funds & contributions, and their data delivery & visualization capabilities are clear, clean, and high-quality.
CONSThe setup & ongoing support left/leave much to be desired, and there's often a lot of back-and-forth to get clear answers on or solutions to issues with no guarantee of resolution.

Accessible, clear, and intuitive
My company switched to Human Interest to manage our 401(k) when we changed payroll software. Human Interest integrates into the new payroll software and has been easy to use. They walked us through the process at launch. I have been able to go in monthly or more often to view my investments and change allocations as needed.
CONSI don't have any criticisms at this point.
