Smooth desktop email client

Overall, Postbox is great for my personal email, as I've described above. My only major negative is that I cannot use it on Microsoft Exchange--that is, the only negative is that they don't allow me to use it even more!

PROS

I'm a big fan of desktop email clients, rather than web clients, mainly because I can do a lot of email work even when I'm offline. Probably my favourite aspect of Postbox is the keyboard shortcuts. They are well thought out and so make my email use smooth--I can easily do so many common tasks with just one key click, such as moving messages to folders. In addition, there are so many tiny details that are almost invisible yet work so smoothly--I barely notice them until I work with other clients like Outlook. For example, when I delete messages, even if they have not yet been read, they are automatically marked as read when deleted so that I don't have to do the two steps of marking a message as read and then deleting it.

CONS

My big negative is that Postbox does not provide native support for Microsoft Exchange--it only provides IMAP. This is a deal-breaker. First, IMAP is not a full replacement for Microsoft Exchange, so there were so many little things that just didn't work right, even after I carefully followed the instructions on Postbox's dedicated page to customize settings to try to work around those issues. Then, to make things worse, my employer blocked IMAP on its Outlook accounts, so I cannot use Postbox at all any longer for my work email account. I now use Postbox only for my personal accounts and then Outlook for my work account. I've already requested Postbox to add support for Microsoft Exchange, but they said there was insufficient demand for that feature. That is always a very dubious reason for not adding features--obviously, there must be some business users who would have the demand for Exchange support but then don't even bother with Postbox once they find that it is missing!

The only email app that I keep using

Postbox has made dealing with email less of a chore with the right mix of tools for my business needs.

PROS

Postbox combines the core features I need for an email app with an excellent support team. Management of multiple inboxes into both single and shared views makes it easy to manage my email, and there are several automation tools built-in.

CONS

I keep asking them to integrate Grammarly. That's the one thing I need to make me completely happy with Postbox.

Reason for choosing Postbox

I bought and used several apps at the time. Post box just consistently offered the best mix of tools and features and made using email the most productive out of them all now, if they would add Grammarly integration.

Reasons for switching to Postbox

There were too many things that outlook just over-complicated and thus did poorly.

Conventional scroll bars - yes, non disabled people can use them without the need for counselling

I think I have made my point, but other issues... The merging of Postbox v. 7 and Outlook 2019 would provide the ultimate e-mail management application. Once Postbox Inc. staff extricate their heads from the sand, they could have a much better product.

PROS

I really do like the smart folders, and the ease at which they can be created. Having e-mail addresses from our three domains, two businesses and personal e-mail, makes this a life saver, and something not possible in Oulook 2019.

CONS

As somebody who has cerebral palsy, the scroll bars implemented in v. 7 of Postbox slow me down, and are unnecessary. Suggesting that non-disabled people cannot use conventional scroll bars is insulting, and if I were non-disabled, I would be questioning Postbox Inc's low opinion of me and others like me. Encryption should be easier to setup, and not to be able to schedule a date and time for specific e-mails to be sent appears to be a glaring omission, as is the inability to insert a signature at the cursor. The lack of read receipt options is also a major let down, and somewhat surprising.

Great Mail App

Great!

PROS

- Possibility to group email addresses in groups (not only in all-in-one inbox). - One time paymant license. I hate monthly or yearly payments. I like to pay for app once and to use it. And if in future there is some update with significant features, then I can decide by myself - to buy or not to buy update, and if I decide to buy, then - when to buy.

CONS

It would be good to have in right corner on on right side some small calendar. I don't think integreated calendar (with Google calendar, iCal or others), but only calendar with monthly view to look date for. For example, if I write an email and must point out some date, i can quickly press some button and look to calendar dates - what date is next Friday, or what was date last Monday etc.

Reason for choosing Postbox

- One time Payment licence - Possibility to group e-mail addresses in different groups

Reasons for switching to Postbox

I wanted pro e-mail with one-time payment licence.

A true email client

I have used Postbox since its first release. I have used it on both MAC and Windows OS and have always found it easy to use. The major plus for me is how easy it is to find an attachment and the way I can link to new emails. The program is built to be intuitive which means the hard work is always done for you. Every upgrade has left you with the same UI so you never had to re-learn how to use it. I currently store ten years of email on it so about 26,000 and have never had a problem.

PROS

Easy to manage attachments the "view" aspect of the program is what really makes it unique.

CONS

Does not always find the correct config when adding email addresses. No mobile version.

Reason for choosing Postbox

Ease of use

Reasons for switching to Postbox

The fact that the launch team made it clear that this was not "freeware" and their desire to build the best client possible

Good mailing software but has a long way to go

Good experience. I was using before Mailbird and emclient but I had lot of problems, so, I started looking an alternative and so I came to you. I tried it and decided to buy it because it's really worth it

PROS

A lot of features A lot personalization. Good performance

CONS

I use it on Windows, I can't minimize it as an icon next to the clock.. for example as antivirus or Spotify, I can minimize these next to de click un the toolbar. Sometime I have troubles with margin of the signature, if u want to edit it in the same email, margins are spoiled I would like to have a way to organize better the email, for example there's an app on mobile, Spark Mail, it has a funtions to organize email by relevance, I don't know how it works exactly but is nice l.

Reasons for switching to Postbox

Postbox has a lot of features and I found the price excellent. the quality was excellent and the cost was not excessive as the competition

Time and Attention Saver

I spend a lot of time in email. Being able to find things fast and also get out of email fast to do something else is important.

PROS

I like that it helps focus me by having some very smart filters and tagging. The keyboard shortcuts are also great. I save a lot of time now in how I handle my email. Also, when I was first starting out, their Support was great in helping explain one feature that I misunderstood how to use.

CONS

Too trivial to list. It's great. I need 40 characters for this field.

Reason for choosing Postbox

Inexpensive, lifetime license, and did I mention it saves me time?

Reasons for switching to Postbox

Mail.app was prone to problems and periodic freezes.

Postbox review

My overall experience with Postbox is good. I really like the way it looks and the way it functions.

PROS

Postbox is very easy to use. I am sure it has more features that I haven't found yet. I replaced Outlook with Postbox and I am so happy I did. It is easy to use and has so many themes and features. So user friendly and didn't cost an arm and a leg to purchase.

CONS

So far I really haven't found that many things I don't like about the software. I still need to work with it a bit more. Perhaps more items in the tool bar (eg.) Priority options in sending mail.

Reasons for switching to Postbox

I was tired of the program disappearing all my emails and then re entering them for no reason while I was checking my emails. The big lack of functions and features the cumbersomeness of it. The cost of it was very high and if you didn't upgrade your system it was not upgraded and you lost quality.

Best option!

In sum, I am happy with the purchase if you are a major user of mail, but do not want to spend much time on it. Beyond what you have to, and one has to sort, group and have a workflow beyond Apple mail and where Outlook gets too "hot" on notifications and integration. Would recommend it to anyone who needs Mail sotware, beyond using the smart phone for everyday use.

PROS

I like Postbox because it is clear, secure and gets the additions that I look for in a mail software. Appears as secure in relation to insecure mail, also has the opportunity to have several profiles separated as work and private, but not at the same time !. Gives me good control of my mail in a satisfactory way. Have either not started as far as I can see subscription, which I appreciate, one of the competitors has been uninstalled because of this. Is a full and good alternative to Mail Mac, for Window it does not seem as big and heavy as Outlook.

CONS

What I don't like are any restrictions in integrating with other apps. It can come from security, and it can come across as messy, what I have registered with a competitor. But being able to sync or have a calendar would be great. Alle doesn't use OmniFocus, there are others too. And of reasons I have mentioned. Failed to integrate Devonthink, nor spamsive. Difficult with tags, but there are at least tags;). The price may be high, but as long as there is no subscription, you have to pay something !.

Reason for choosing Postbox

I've already tried everyone else, so if the Postbox start to change too much on its formula. I have a problem.

Reasons for switching to Postbox

As mentioned above, too much "stuff" going on and subscription. If it has an ok upgrade, then I would rather pay for that upgrade. Under the notion that I own it, not that I get lucky enough to pay to borrow it. May I not feel like upgrading, being more than happy with who it is. Same problems with Adobe and 1Password, sad for them, always others willing to fill that void. And I also think it appears a little more solid, and since not so much as "happens" in the background. It is quicker to open and get it done.

Best e-mail client IMO

Everyday user, multiple accounts (15) are managed simultanoesly. Business and private user.

PROS

Works smoothly even with many accounts. You can change folder for e-mails so your C partition drive on Windows does not grown day by day. but the best option is you can colour your e-mails with your numer pad - coloured topic are easy to manage if you use miltiple accounts and work on many tasks simultanously. 5 stars for developers and for Customer Service that hepled me from time to time with new features and some minor problem with my system (for example my fonts on windows crushed and CS helped me to find solution althrough it was not their job, e-mails with Georgia font was problematic). I use their app day by da within last 2 years and I am more than happy after transition from Thunderbird, Outlook, eM Client and after tested some more others...Postbox is best of them all IMO. I highly recommend !

CONS

List of supported languages. I am from Poland and there is no Polish translation although there is Russian and some other big countries like Italian or German. Alternative apps have polish language. I understand that it takes some resources to create more languages but not everyone uses English language at that high level to be ready to use only the english interface, so it is hard to recommend the app to friends in my country.

Reasons for switching to Postbox

Thunderbird has many problems with app crush during e-mail writing and losing text I had to start writing messages from scratch and the constant problem with the interface on Win10, eM Client has no filters and many other bugs and problems. Outlook was not fit for me like many Microsoft apps. Postbox is perfect for me.

Good for Business Good for Personal

I started using (and recommending) Postbox during my time as a IT consultant to small businesses (who also love the software). I now am semi retired and us the software personally for my investment activities. Since I get a lot of old emails related to my former business, Postbox allows me to sort them into folders for a later look or delete them directly. I have multiple emails for security purposes and I am able to consolidate them into the single Postbox application. It is easy to use, easy to confiure, and it works all the time.

PROS

Ability to consolidate multiple emails onto one platform with the ability to send from any. Filter ability is excellent to group incoming emails into the best folder and in cases of spam directly to delete. Ability to search the contents of all emails (or select email accounts) in one easy search

CONS

Sometimes the indexing feature takes a long time and puts the software on hold.

Reason for choosing Postbox

Postbox had the capabilities I was looking for. I continue to review competitors to see if switching is worthwhile, but I still find the Postbox solution the best!

Reasons for switching to Postbox

I am probably using postbox for a decade. I know from my file records I used version 3 and maybe before that. The capabilities of Postbox make the decision to switch. The fact that it works as promoted make it a very valuable piece of software.

Postbox is a great option for users who want to keep their email on their own computer.

I've been using Postbox since 2014 and wouldn't have anything else. I went from using Outlook to Thunderbird and then finally to Postbox and wouldn't trade either of the other two for Postbox if they paid me to take them. I'm not a novice user. I built and repaired computers for over twenty years and I know what works and what doesn't, Postbox works!

PROS

Postbox is easy to setup and easy to maintain. The user interface is simple and intuitive and updates frequently so you're always up to speed with new developments and improvements. Customer support also responds quickly.

CONS

Postbox could use an option that would allow for easier synchronization between devices. Adding email senders to contacts could be a little easier and it would be nice if it had two categories such as: personal and general contacts in which to add the new contacts.

Reasons for switching to Postbox

I switched from Outlook because I don't like where Microsoft is heading so I tried Thunderbird and found that getting rid of old data was near impossible and it kept dropping my account information so I would have to go back in and reset everything which dredged up old retired accounts and made a mess.

Nice to look at but...

Poorly designed and set afloat with no support, forum, or written documentation. Their support is just marketing hype with pretty pictures. Period. End of sentence. Do I think it sucks? Yep!

PROS

It looks nice. Purported to be a business class product. NOT. It. Isn't. Ready. For. Prime. Time. It is still pre-beta.

CONS

Too many un-editable default settings. The message filtering does not work. The junk filtering does not work. You must click the load images on any mail that has an image in it.

Reason for choosing Postbox

Luck of the draw. Customer reviews (obviously faked) seemed legit and made it sound like a good product.

Reasons for switching to Postbox

I wanted to try something different. Bad move on my part.

Vendor Response

Dear Chris, We're sorry your experience wasn't a good one. We strive to make every user experience the very best it can be. However, we would like to set the record straight: * Postbox is one of the most configurable email apps on the market, with most settings adjustable in some way. * Our Help Center contains over 300 Articles, Getting Started Guides, Video Tutorials, and Troubleshooting Guides. * We have a dedicated team of experts that can handle any inquiry you may have. In fact, you sent an inquiry to us and we responded to you only 27 minutes later. * All of our reviews are from actual Postbox users and none of them are fake. With that said, we're sorry to see you go and wish you the best of luck in finding an email app that works best for you.

Excellent Cross-Platform Experience with Great Filing Features

Overall very good experience. Needs a few engagements but overall a great app that is always being developed.

PROS

I use a Mac and a PC and having an app that offers the same experience on both platforms is a huge plus. The biggest reason I like PostBox is that it allows for very quick, easy, and efficient filing of messages. (That was my biggest complaint with Airmail). I also like that they update and improve it continuously.

CONS

There isn’t much to dislike. I wish they still allowed plugins like MailHub which allow for a certain level of predictive filing features. While there are workarounds for some plugins like Todoist, there is no way to use a plugin for predictive filing.

Reason for choosing Postbox

Folder search and filing. Same Experience on every platform.

Reasons for switching to Postbox

I had asked Airmail tech support repeatedly for over a year to fix a very simple issue with their folder search. After getting nowhere, I just gave up on them and switched to PostBox. I still use Airmail but only as a secondary app.

Powerful with exceptional UI - the only email tool I can use anymore.

PROS

I've been using PostBox for around 6 years now, maybe a little more. It is an incredibly powerful native email client that maintains to a beautiful UI such that the features don't bog you down with clutter. The keyboard shortcuts are incredible. I'm an inbox zero kinda a person, and I can power through my entire inbox without every touching a mouse/trackpad. The integrations with google are great, and the customizability is superb. Any issues I've had I've been able to look up and find, or contact the dev and figure out. I recommend it to anyone I talk to on the subject. I can't work with out it - I tried this last go around.

First time I spend money on a mail client

I tried many email apps, paid and free, even Thunderbird, and definitely Postbox was the one that best fit my needs. It doesn't freeze, it works for what I need. At least what they offer has worked well for me. In general it has helped me optimize a lot of time. I never thought I was going to spend money on a mail client, but here they have me.

PROS

The main factor for me is the possibility of having multiple email accounts, as well as the ease of organizing the emails in groups, a unified inbox according to my preferences. The themes are perfect, read emails at night becomes much more manageable. Smart folders are another huge plus. This helps me filter important emails (from all my accounts) or from certain services in a single folder.

A ton of well thought out features

With everything, it seems like a lot of thought was put into. And almost everytime I think, it would be awesome if … – chances are, I already can. I spent years trying to find an email app that didn't suck, I even tried out an earlier version of Postbox and was not particularly inspired. Lately, I came across the app again and decided to give it another go, and it seems my quest has come to a happy end.

PROS

I am amazed by the abundance of features and the ease of use of Postbox. The focus pane is a lot of help. I could not see the use for a Home button, until I figured out using two filters and a search term simultaneously (something like flagged mails from with in archive of ) could lead you way down into the depths of your mailboxes.

CONS

Everything I found Postbox to be lacking so far are just nice-to-have features on top of quite a few already really good ones. For instance, the Cloud File Sharing built right into the app is an incredibly useful feature, but it only covers box, Dropbox and OneDrive. I need a Nextcloud option.

Reasons for switching to Postbox

Spark has a polished interface but is rather limited in features. The "natural language search" is limited to what the developers believe you need. So you can search for mails "from <sender> last week", but for instance, not three weeks ago. Besides, the privacy policy of Spark seems somewhat shady.

Postbox is our go-to email client for our OSX platform. Filters, rules, folders, quick commands - excellent choices to help speed along message handling. Also excellent capabilities with encryption and signatures. We haven't found a better product - if we had, we'd be using it.

PROS

Excellent capabilities at a very reasonable cost with good support on the OSX platform.

Excellent, Powerful and simple to use!

PROS

The interface for starters is very clean, modern, and simple. Highly customizable. Love that you add plugins and send various email formats. The ability to do a mailmerge with placeholders without having to buy or pay for a bulk emailer is awesome. Love being able to also easily organize emails (subjects, topics or even personal/business via topics)

CONS

The price is a bit steep. But great on a black Friday sale.

Reasons for switching to Postbox

Apple mail doesn't offer the same level of features and Microsoft Outlook is just too expensive + is a subscription model.
