Great alternative to online blackboards and note-taking apps!

It is just "Oh my goodness!" Stupid simple and immensely inspiring! Useful. Helpful. Adorable.

PROS

User-friendly, flexible, responsive, customizable and overwhelmingly great! Easy-to-use on Linux OS (my OS - Ubuntu Budgie 18.04.5 LTS (Bionic Beaver), I am a PC user). I really like their multiple functions, such as: creating complex documents with tables, different splendid fonts, background colors, in bold and cursive fonts. Flexible and comfy using bullet points or ordered listing, page numbering, first-line indentation, interline spacing. Adjustable using hyperlinks and styles deleting. It is fast and easy to create, share and delete documents, modify them, download and save in .doc or .pdf. It is absolutely free, stable, secure and trustworthy service which is indispensable for e-learning, edutainment, studies, research work and online tutoring. Besides, you can use this spectacularly simple service as a note-taking app or even a draft of your blog or bullet journal! Whatever you want to type down: bucket list, to-do list, grocery list, motivation letter draft, CV or resume, it is always comfy, flexible and useful! Easy to use, easy to customize, easy to modify, save, download and delete! I have not mentioned other functions as inserting some files (pictures) or creating slides or optical character recognition, but I have never checked these functions, that's why I have described just common functionality which is pleasant and helpful for any task completion! As I said: it is smart, simple and impressively good! I am really grateful that such a service exists.

CONS

Well, for some weird reason I cannot check for sure how OCR works there. Besides, my hardware is a little bit outdated, that's why something like "inserting pictures" might malfunction on my OS.

Reasons for switching to Google Docs

I needed something cutting-edge, stupid simple, easy to modify and implement, cheap and customizable. Moodle System required a good hosting, server and it was often quite difficult to create, demonstrate and save content for my students.

Certainly performing well...

While the program isn't perfect, Google Docs is by far the most easily accessible and widely used word editing programs. It excels at what it needs to do, but lacks on what it could do.

PROS

To start, Docs get's everything you need done. Editing, typing, sharing—it's all easily done. In a school or work environment, the commenting mode and ability to share documents easily makes working extremely efficient. In comparison, a traditional document editor would require you to manually send the file, have the other party edit it, then send it back. In docs, being able to instantly see any edits or comments another person makes is a huge time-saver. Docs is also extremely compatible with other types of files, and even can transcribe PDF files. It's also capable of converting your current doc into other formats, which is helpful since you won't have to use a third-party website/application to do so. While being a common feature in other editing programs, the auto save feature is handy, as it saves every time a change is made, even if it's just a single letter. On top of that, Docs also stores previous versions of your document, which I personally found very useful when back-referencing older revisions of essays and other papers. Lastly, Docs runs constant grammar and spelling checks, which is great for when you are typing in a rush and misspell a word or type something out awkwardly. Not only that, but the detection is always improving, and is even able to detect proper nouns (like names) and recognize that they aren't spelled wrong because they are meant to be spelled that way.

CONS

Despite it's strengths, Google Docs holds a few annoying points. A major disappointment lies in the lack of font support. While some of the major, non-standard fonts like IBM Plex Sans are available, a majority of the fonts that are available aren't well-known or widely used, which led me to using the same 4-5 fonts over and over again. There is no option to add third-party fonts either, which isn't ideal for those of us that have a selection of them on our computers. Despite Doc's simple design, it's actually a huge resource hog for both internet bandwidth and RAM. While it may not be noticeable on a decent computer, it's especially noticeable on computers that aren't from the last 4 years or so. Loading Docs onto my laptop from a few years ago brought it to its knees, and forced me to use an alternative. While Docs has plenty of shortcuts for its most commonly used tools, not every tool has a shortcut. On top of that, there are no options to bind our own shortcuts to a tool, which is a huge problem for those of us that have to write heavily formatted, non-traditional styled documents. Lastly, table creation and editing in Docs is still yet to be ideal. Each line in a table is treated as a separate line, meaning that you have to either edit each line or all the lines at once, which makes it inconvenient to create visually appealing tables.

One of the best out there, but should leave the physical world behind!

PROS

Google Docs is almost unparalleled when it comes to document creation and sharing! The ability to add comments, go into feedback mode, make tasks from comments, are all crucial and things I use weekly if not daily. I love how by default margins and page breaks are gone since it's rare we need to print things at this point.

CONS

I think Google Docs could go even further into the world of digital-only files. One thing I would LOVE for them to implement are collapsible sections so that documents are much easier to navigate and scan through. If I have three massive sections to a Doc, I'd like to hide the other two to focus on the one I'm working on. Also please implement a Latex integration for math and rich text in the form of code blocks.

Reasons for switching to Google Docs

My current lab doesn't use Dropbox! The last place I worked at did!

Most Effective Writing Programme

It's still the finest writing/document programme I've used thus far. It may cause some anxiety to add emails, but the accessibility feature for emails needs to be improved.

PROS

Google Document is quick and simple, and using files and subfolders to organise data is simple. In order to retrieve documents without having to slide through files, you can search by keyword, date, and time.

CONS

Sharing documents through email or other app is not always simple. Sometimes customers send me emails complaining that they can't open the files.

Google Docs Review

Great thanks to my mentor, since he introduced Google Docs 11 years ago in our volunteering work for the community, I've been a loyal user of Google Docs. I successfully manage to implement my Google Docs-savviness into my offices' work, as well as for my current business afterwards. I often stored files from the resource speakers as my Google Docs and shared them to all participants at easy and no hassle. I also stored the files as my Google Docs for my business portfolio to showcase to potential clients, and even share them for my happy client. The benefits cannot be counted, Google Docs saved my life!

PROS

I remember the first time I was being introduced to use Google Docs was in 2008 by my mentor, Sylvain Henry from Canada, it was like, wow....this online tool is super efficient and superb! It's integrated seamlessly with our Gmail account along with other fantastic Google Products. It's very easy to use, even for first timer. I no longer have to worry searching for my missing files from my harddisk because I did not have the chance to create the backup files, because I can rely on Google Docs for sure that is stored in the cloud. Which means I could open it whenever I want to. Now Google Docs is even getting cool! I can use Voice Typing feature whenever I have any ideas come up in my mind, without worrying I need to type them and those briliant ideas could possibly vanish into thin air if I type them one by one. Furthermore, Google Docs provides such amazing templates, which makes my work a lot easier. In addition, I also often use Google Forms to create event registration that has a function also as a survey for my clients.

CONS

When I don't have an internet connection, then I cannot open my files inside my Google Docs. I have to download all the files into my harddisk as a backup. Would it be possible to make all my files in Google Doc are automatically stored offline into my harddisk in the near future?

Reason for choosing Google Docs

I’ve known Google Docs for such quite a long time, so I prefer to use it because I don’t want to re-learn from zero in using new online tool. Besides that, although EverNote can be integrated into email and other online tools, I still feel some hassle in doing so compared to Google Docs.

My favorite collaborative software

I never lose work and can have all of my docs on Google cloud. Sharing documents is incredibly easy and collaboration is smooth.

PROS

Google Docs is great for both collaborative writing work and personal writing. The auto save feature ensures that you do not lose work as long as you are connected to the internet, and the history feature ensures that you can take a look back at work you may have written over. Google Docs is easy to use, free, and has most functionality that Word Doc has. Hundreds of downloadable add-ons give users even more options when it comes to things like font, graph inserts, or layout design. When sharing a document with people, you can decide what level of access that person has to the document: "view only" (no editing power), "can comment" (can make editing suggestions and leave comments throughout the document), "can edit" (full access to editing document). I started using Google Docs in college and still use it today as a professional freelance writer. It is great for academia, personal use, and professional use.

CONS

I can't set a "default" font. This is kind of petty, but I personally hate Ariel font and I have to manually change the font for body text and headings every time. Like I said, it's petty.

Reasons for switching to Google Docs

Google Docs provided the best functionality and was automatically commented to my Gmail account, which doubles as my professional email.

Google Docs: Reliable and Highly Trusted

Any document I have created, regardless if it's a chart, a slide, or a mock brochure, I can find in one place online or offline.

PROS

I can easily switch from Google Docs to Sheets without losing my progress. It makes figuring out budgets and target audiences for our demographics sincerely effortless. I find myself getting done twice the work I had been getting done using Microsoft. I can set up a commenting section and share with individuals as well as groups, so the brainstorming and collaborating can continue from around the world and back.

CONS

In all honesty, at this very moment, I have found no cons. I can't say that in the following years when we look to further expand that we won't, but as of three years strong with google, I have no complaints.

Reason for choosing Google Docs

The stability in online and offline access, the importing implement, the streamlined look and design and the lack of a paywall.

Reasons for switching to Google Docs

After a good friend showed us how easily we could import and implement the information from our Microsoft documents over to Google, I was hooked!

Great Software!

i loved it! my team was able to have all the necessary files and documents in one place, every time a hardware crashed we didn't have to worry about unsaved changes which was a plus to my time specifically.

PROS

In all honesty , i used this software to write down contract formats, to do lists, and even scripts for my production company and to say the least i am very pleased. The feature i loved most was where you can share files with colleagues and work on the same document at the same time real time.

CONS

i didn't like the fact that you have to request access to a document once it has been submitted or turned in (When documents are assigned) it sort of complicates things.

Quite Literally Can't Live Without Google Docs

With Google Docs, we solve the issue of having to license everyone else with a Microsoft Office or Microsoft Word pass. Another problem solved is simply the ability to convert documents from old .doc or .docx files into our storage drives.

PROS

The ability to replace most 'modern-day' software options that are similar, but pale in comparison. We use Google Docs as a way to write policies, share projects, finalize posts to publish on site, etc. There is quite literally a million use cases for us, and no issue.

CONS

It's difficult to say I like something 'least' as there is not something I don't like about Google Docs. Maybe I have too many Google Docs at one point? But that's more of a me problem!

Reason for choosing Google Docs

It was considered because most already had it from previous versions. There wasn't a real 'effort to switch' more of a consensus from everyone involved to officially move away from Microsoft to Google.

Reasons for switching to Google Docs

Because we wanted to work collaboratively and the Microsoft Word/Office suite just wasn't cutting it

Great product for boosting team productivity affordably

My overall experience with Google Docs has been a good one. It has helped to make the workflow of my team and myself more efficient, because we are able to coordinate and communicate in real-time without having to juggle multiple apps and services to accomplish our daily goals. Google Docs for the most part is very what you see is what you get, which is not a bad thing. There were a couple of bugs starting out, for instance the fact that sometimes you are allowed to add multiple people as editor to a single document, while at other times you are not. As I said in the "Cons" portion of my review, I am not sure if this is a bug in the system or what. However, it hasn't caused too much of a hiccup in my team and I being able to do what we need to do. Even though, it would be nice to see that issue cleared up.

PROS

Google Docs makes it easy for my writers, editors, artists, and other team members to be able to generate documents, collaborate, share critiques, and more in real-time. I am also able to oversee workflow through the ability to track the start and completion of projects as they are turning over. Thus, allowing for our workflow as a team to be more efficient.

CONS

There are some issues when it comes to being able to ad multiple people as editor to a document at a time without having to create multiples of the same document. Yet, in other cases that is not required. Not sure if it is because of a bug in the system, or what.

Reason for choosing Google Docs

Google Docs is more compatible with a variety of devices.

Reasons for switching to Google Docs

Google Docs was more compatible with all devices my team was using. As opposed to Microsoft which is only at optimum functions on PC's.

A student, writer, editor or researcher's dream

PROS

Google Docs is great for writing and collaborating on written projects because it keeps a "Version History" of the document that is easy to access and easy to read. It also shows you in the right margin who has made what changes to the document (so you can easily determine which version you want to see even if you don't remember exactly when). Similar to a "Track Changes" option on Word or Pages, but better, Google Docs offers a "Suggesting Mode" where your changes are visible and can be "accepted" or "rejected." This is ideal for when you want to suggest a change to the text and I use it often when marking or grading students' papers to show them how they might have reworded something, offering suggestions on their drafts, peer-reviewing friends' papers or proposals, and so forth. There is also a comments function, which is again different from what you'd find on Word or Pages because you can see the comments right there on the right margin of the document instead of having to 'click' on the comment to see what it says... The Outline function is extraordinarily useful as well, as it automatically compiles an 'outline' of your paper based on your titles/headers. This is perfect for organizing notes or long documents with multiple sections. Docs is also great for sharing as it allows you to share a file as "View-Only" or editable, and either by email invitation to the file or by distributing the link. There are also tons of add-ons...

CONS

There are no obvious issues with Google Docs, though considering how many people use Docs for writing projects or papers, it would be nice if there were more document types. There are dedicated writing softwares (such as Scrivener) that essentially break down one larger written draft into multiple sections that are compiled into one. It would be good for Docs to consider something along those lines, as I use it religiously for everything from taking meeting minutes to organizing recipes I want to try, but I avoid writing longer documents on Docs because it takes too long to scroll up and down.

I LOVE Google Docs!

I use it every single day! Organization of notes, business plans, outlines, task lists, team efforts, and even my utility overview is used on Google Docs and makes my life easier.

PROS

I've been using this software for years now and have migrated ALL of my Microsoft word documents to Google Docs because I can access it from anywhere, on any computer, smartphone or tablet as long as there is an internet connection. This makes my life WAY easier. I love how it has the same features as MSWord and how I can share it publicly or privately with other email addresses. And I love the "sections" adding by new title sections in the document making it easy to navigate. I also love the template designs which speeds up the process very fast. And it's great other team members can be allowed to edit a document. It is a complete all inclusive software that makes my life WAY easier and I will continue to use it daily like I have been.

CONS

Two things only, even though I limit members from copying or printing, they still take screenshots of sensitive material. Perhaps adding a "NDA Agreement" section would help so sensitive material is not abused. Also, I have about a dozen different emails but it can be hard to remember or navigate to each docs sometimes, especially after stated "signed into too many accounts" which slows me down and makes matters confusing. If there was a way to make this easier to navigate, that would be awesome. I guess allowing other team members that edit a document to be easily distinguishable to who edited what would be highly beneficial as well.

Reason for choosing Google Docs

Ease of use, can access from other computers, can share documents easy with others and have them interact with it.

Do we even need to discuss how cool this tool is?!!!

This is the backbone of our office admin work. We use it for collaborating with the clients, they review and comment on the docs before we can finalize and go for signing or live work. We use this for our meeting agendas and also for simple documentation and training.

PROS

I like nearly everything about this tool. I can literally work from any computer, anywhere as long as I can access my Google Docs files. I worked on a few things during the last holidays, at the hotel we were staying (wife was not happy). I had an urgent task to review and I pulled up the files in a borrowed computer, finished the task, cleaned all history for security (it was a borrowed computer after all) and was off to the beach. Google docs provides a lot of extra add-ons which comes in really handy. Though most of the top shelf stuff are paid, not free like the Google docs itself. But they really make your life easier. And they are adding more functionality over time!

CONS

Only downside I have found in my years of use is the files get sluggish if there is a lot of data. A desktop solution like MS Word opens up really fast and loads all the text and images/diagrams in a sec, but being a cloud app, Google doc takes a few seconds to respond if you have loaded tons of stuff in there. But that is unaviodable and I dont hold it against them. Another rare annoyance is the server issue. Again since it is a cloud service, the app can not be expected to be live 100% of the time. A couple years back it was getting more frequent, like multiple times in a month. But it is a lot more sable now. I havent seen such an error in months.

Reasons for switching to Google Docs

Easy collaboration, cloud access, free service.

Improve the productivity of your team or company with Google Docs.

Google Docs brings a number of benefits to the productivity of your team or company, and consequently will lead to higher quality deliveries. The system is integrated with Google Drive, which facilitates collaboration, use and control.

PROS

• It is possible for several users to work simultaneously on the same document, keeping all updates visible in real time, where through a chat system, where you can communicate with the people who are viewing the same file. • Another very important feature in collaboration is the detailed control of permissions, where you can make files visible to specific people, or to everyone who works in the company. • You don't have to move around the desktop to access an important document, just use the mobile app to be able to view and edit everything on your cell phone. • Allows documents to be opened by a browser or application, without the need for the file to be saved on the computer. • The system is still able to open documents in the Office extension, accepting editing them through conversion. • It has the function of the agenda, which allows the scheduling of dates and events, as well as the development of descriptions not to forget. • You have the option of taking notes during activities, allowing you to write down ideas, so you can return to them later.

CONS

• If you are not online, or do not have access to the Internet, you will not be able to work with the files, as you do not automatically have an offline copy on your computer, to use when you cannot access the Internet. • If someone holds your secret password, or is able to steal the password, they can log into your account and view your confidential files, edit documents or delete them.
