Streamlined our on-premise deployments!
I personally enjoy how much faster and easier it has made deploying our software in our Customers environments. It's really saved us hundreds of man hours using Replicated and I never want to go back.
CONSFinding details and underlying options is very difficult. We're pointed to the community which is great, but it's the blind leading the blind there for things specific to Replicated that an end user/ end administrator can answer. It's also not uncommon for threads on the community forum to go unanswered forever.

Excellent Product - Even better support
The team and product are outstanding. They get the job done, and often they are more than willing to help our team when we have issues.
PROSThe tool is easy to navigate and set up licenses for our customers. It's simple to get a customer set up with licenses and it seems to have all the features we need. But by far, the support and resources they throw behind the software are world-class. Often times Replicated will hop on calls and help resolves issues with our teams.
CONSFrom what I have heard, it is pricey, and there is a bit of manual work with updating license details required from the BA replicated team. Seems like something they could resolve a bit easier.

Vendor shipping on-prim software via Replicated KOTS
We have 30-40 customers running on Replicated KOTS today and using KOTS has started to reduce the operational overhead of supporting these customers and maintaining installers. We are able to support multiple deployment scenarios such as existing clusters, embedded clusters, and air-gapped installs without building custom install paths for those scenarios.
PROSReplicated KOTS fits well with our existing on-prim software delivery model of shipping enterprise software on-premise via containers, Kubernetes, and helm. We like the flexibility to support both existing clusters or to create an embedded Kubernetes cluster if the customer does not already have one. KOTS helps abstract away the complexity of Kubernetes for customers not concerned with it but also gives more advanced customers the option for greater control if desired. This is also backed by excellent support from the Replicated team.
CONSWe have encountered several bugs and the occasional regression with the Replicated KOTS product so the quality of the software could be improved. The time and effort to install via KOTS is still higher than we would like, but the Replicated team is starting to make improvements in this area. Additionally, we are still working to realize some of the time savings on our development teams by using a 3rd party installer.
Reason for choosing Replicated
Replicated is better suited for a vendor scenario and comes with support.
Reasons for switching to Replicated
Kubestray was too complicated for the average user. Installs frequently failed and users complained of the complexity of the install.

Eases installation of k8s, but ease of maintenance is still evolving
Greatly simplifies the experience of installing a kubernetes based application.
CONSFeatures to truly make it user friendly are still in the works. For example, the ability to commit changes to specific versions of your application or snapshot your install to something other than S3 were only released in the last couple months. The goal of the product to get the user to the point where they never need to run kubectl commands is not there yet.

Usability and support issues but still believe there is potential
We needed to solve a unified and simplified installer for our kubernetes based application that can handle many OSs, many k8s distributions, and online/airgapped scenarios. We're realizing some of the benefits here but the ease of use issues and frequent need to reach out to replicated support are causing a lack of trust in the product from our internal support teams as well as from our customers.
PROSThe prospect of simplified kubernetes installs and application delivery.
CONSEase of use still remains an issue due to how many things require command line work to accomplish in KOTS. There are also gaps in usability and logging in the UI that also requires command line interaction to determine what an issue is. Kots and kURL seem to be designed with the idea of always using the latest version of things and new features added without the ability to disable them which, combined with the frequency of issues in new releases, has created an ongoing pattern of finding issues in the field and then needing bug fixes for bug fixes. There isn't enough ownership or support from Replicated on some aspects of KOTS and kURL. We're ultimately looking for Replicated to explicitly own and support a common set of kURL addons, documented support for managed k8s distributions (EKS, AKS, etc), and supporting the underlying kubernetes clusters created with the embedded installer.
