Fishbowl Inventory Manufacturing Software


 

Fishbowl is a manufacturing and warehouse management solution designed for small to midsize companies. The software offers advanced work orders, manufacture orders, and bills of materials to improve the production process. The application has inventory control features, material requirements planning (MRP) and job shop floor control/manufacturing execution. The tool provides automated batch and repair work orders based on lot tracking and serial number tracking.

Fishbowl has an inventory management system with features like barcoding, asset management, raw materials management, cycle counting, customized reporting, automated reordering, and purchasing. The companies with multiple warehouses are provided real-time updates on stocks level in different warehouses. The software can predict inventory requirement based on sales trends. The software also helps companies to avoid shortages by transferring stocks in demand from one warehouse to another.

Fishbowl offers training and support resources which include training videos, online tutorials, and in-house specialists. Fishbowl’s integration with QuickBooks helps users integrate manufacturing, sales, and distribution processes with back office accounting. Fishbowl also integrates with e-commerce, shipping, merchant services and CRM solutions like Magento, Shopify, Zencart and Salesforce.

The idea behind the software is great, sadly not reflected when using the program. Fishbowl is very flexible and allow us to use close to the way we need.

Cons

Tech Support. They are great when you can get connected but it took me a week to get a call back. User interface could be a little more friendly. A lot of grey buttons and some weird bugs often makes it hard to use.

If you are going to charge this much for a product it should look like it was made in this century, it should have all of the modern data interchange features expected from a modern application, and support should be fantastic. We have started looking at alternatives and will NOT be renewing.

Pros

Decent product. The interface is a little dated, and some standard thing you would expect in functionality are missing or difficult to use. But, overall, it is a decent product if your goal is to have an inventory and order management system that integrates with Quickbooks.

Cons

You will get no support unless you complain. We just updated our license, paid for a year of support. Still waiting 48 hours later for a call back from support. This is normal.

When you do get the support you will most likely start with the lowest level support and have to either speak to the real support people through an intermediary or have to wait another day or two for the next level of support to call you back. Repeat that process until you finally get to someone who knows what they are talking about.

Support this expensive should be fantastic. Instead, I am not certain what they could do to make this any worse.

Up until the update to MY SQL we were doing great with FB, we have over a month that we've experienced major issues with the system

Hi, we updated today to the most updated version of FB and it seems to have fixed our major issues we've been experiencing for over a month since My SQL. I would have like a quicker solution as it was a huge company wide issue for us.

The technician with Fishbowl is amazing. Technician stayed on the phone with me for an hour to resolve the issue I was facing. I can not say enough about the customer support.

Pros

Great customer support staff is available to assist at any time. The staff makes it easy for a person who has never used the software to understand the functionality

Cons

Many updates come out without any warning or written notice. It was not stated in any notification received that the newest version required a server IOS change.

It's really a great value compared to other ERP systems.

Pros

There's a lot more to Fishbowl than meets the eye. I strongly recommend on-site training. Fishbowl support team is excellent. Fishbowl is a great value.

Cons

Setting up plug-ins have been challenging. We're a Mac shop and there are a few issues with the client app, but in the end, Fishbowl's Mac application works just fine.

I have been the FB admin for about 4.5 years now - it has it's good points, like the TO module, but for reporting it isn't all that we need

not sure if FB can handle large companies with 3 party manufacturing - it doesn't seem to now.

Pros

modules for the different things you need to do, like SO and TO and parts - ease of adding part numbers.

Cons

it did not Drop Ship the way we needed it to. I have to review the sales each day and remove the items that the boss does not track. It does crash still on exports, but it is much better than before.

Cons

Have had many issues. Locks up when exporting to QuickBooks. Won't let us close out some purchase and sales orders if still have open items. Have had trouble getting inventory out of stock.

Pros

Inventory manager likes options and functionality. Have been using for two years with mixed feelings because of support.

Cons

Product support is nothing short of horrible. Much frustration getting answers to issues in a timely manner. Our salesman was deceptive. Told me what I wanted to hear right up to running my credit card. Then refused to give me the information promised. What a shame.

Fishbowl Inventory was a great success in our first year of utilization. The biggest and easiest improvement was the vast reduction of manual order duplication, as we were able to have orders submitted from our website directly into Fishbowl, and then have sales orders pushed directly into Quick Books on the back end of the system. As we learn to better use Fishbowl, we are more accurate with reporting to our customer's accurate data, and also keep our sales representatives up to date with inventory levels, pricing, and order tracking on behalf of their customers.

For the record - our small seed company grew with the help of Fishbowl Inventory!

Pros

We really like the data transfer capabilities with an API interface from our website order platform, and the data push into Quick books on the back end. So much time has been saved from manual data entry duplication. The ability to have multiple users from all over with remote hosting allows sales reps from TX to MT to place orders and see inventory availability prior to order placing. Having the opportunity to write our own I-reports to meet our specifications.

Cons

We haven't been able to make mobile applications work yet for our systems. We still have challenges with the real time tracking of inventory between locations with using bar-codes, scanners and mobile devices.

We are now six months into our Fishbowl deployment and I must say, our expectations have been surpassed. May it be functionality or support, the Fishbowl team delivers. I would also like to note that the support team goes the extra mile! Garret has been great!

Ease of use and scalability.

Cons

Though the product documentation and wiki are excellent, there are some holes that require the support team to answer. At times, clear answers are not provided upon first inquiry.

If you are having difficulty managing inventory I highly recommend that you take a look at Fishbowl.

Pros

There are plenty of reports to slice data as needed. You can keep the system as simple as you want or set it calculate re-order quantity based on demand.

Cons

There are a few minor adjustments in reporting to QuickBooks that need to be addressed. Other than that it is a solid system.

This software is great for processing orders and managing inventory. Our inventory has never been so accurate and our processes streamlined.

Cons

The customer service agents are very nice and extremely helpful, the problem is that Fishbowl does not employ enough of them so when a problem comes up you have to send an email and wait...maybe up to 1 day which is a issue when you can't process orders until they contact you back and fix the problem. It's really the only issue I have but it is a BIG issue.

The software does a nice job of recording lot numbers, and tracking through the system. I am being forced to enter more data here, but I don't like much else about this product. We run Google sheets as a database to track our production.

Cons

Customer service - I've been trying to reach someone for a week to resolve an issue. I have never reached a live person via a phone call, and always expect at least 24 hours or more to hear back from them. Also the reporting is dismal. Budget to purchase additional reporting.

We have used Fishbowl for over 10 years and have seen the evolution of the software, we like the fact that with each update a new feature is added along with more functionality. The UI is simple to use and understand and the online videos makes training of new employees much easier. The only problem we have encountered with the system is the tech support response time, sometimes it takes more than a day to solve a simple issue.
Overall, the software is a great tool for our operations; we handle all our sales, purchasing, inventory, and manufacturing.

We were looking for a software program that could best serve our inventory management and decided Fishbowl was the best option for us. Fishbowl provided the ingratiation we need with quickbooks and provided inventory details we didn't have before implementation. The customer support is terrific and the simplicity of the interface is greatly appreciated. We are very happy with the overall quality of fishbowl as a program and company.

Of the other application the company uses i get the least number of calls for Fishbowl questions. I the rare case something does happen when i call support they all speak clear proper English and know how to fix things. They don't follow scrips and get things back quickly.

I first implemented FB in 2009 for a complex paint manufacturer. It worked perfectly. That company was purchased by a public company 4 years later and the financial people were very impressed.

Pros

It has many features for inventory management, BOM creation, WO management, shipping/receiving. And it now integrates with a lot of supplementary apps.

FB is a great next step after outgrowing QB inventory and manufacturing capabilities.

Cons

Wished kits could be used as a product. We'd like to pull multiple parts, give it a part # and sell it. The problem is it doesn't pull it from inventory. We've had to make a BOM for it so it could be considered in inventory.
