AVImark features integration with multiple lab machines such as Abaxis, Antech, Forcyte, Hemagen, Hemavet, Heska, Idexx and Scil which allows practitioners to import data directly from these devices.

Easy and user friendly seems to work well for us. Like having multiple ways to access features in the system.
Things hidden in drop downs, not always easy to know where to go. Otherwise not really any complaints.

Not much. Maybe it's user friendly if you are only using it as a appt scheduler it's goid. Anything more & it's a nightmare
Stay away from this product if you have, or want to have, a paperless environment. The are trying to take an old legacy system & tweak it to work in an advanced, paperless world. It wzz never designed to be paperless & never designed for a lot of workstations. So, it freezes every 1/2 hr or so at every workstation so you have to do a manual shut down. It cant handle large client records with lots of atratchments & images such as xrays, ultrasoubd imagex, digital photos, etc Horrible rech support. We know more than the tech support folks. If its anything more than a simple problem your in bug trouble! They will not transfer or give you contact info for a supervisor or mgr of client service. If you finally get ti someone they basically blame all your problems on your network & wash their hands of you. If you are looking for anything more than a calendar or badic name & phone # RUN to another pms.

I was torn between avimark and cornerstone and made a huge mistake going with avimark. I called tech support 86 times in the first 8 months and still never had it all working. I bought a new server, upgraded my internet, and spent thousands on IT help. They would not issue me a refund and I ended up buying cornerstone within a year. Huge waste of money.

I've worked with this software in multiple practices I worked at doing relief work and evaluated it for my practice as well. It is a decent program but requires a lot of creation of your own templates, etc. There is/was an active yahoo user group that could help with this, but unfortunately, the software still seems behind the times as far as importing images easily, coordinating all medical records and for consideration as a complete practice management tool in 2016. This may change as I believe Henry Schein purchased the company, but I have not seen much recent indication that this has changed or will change. Customer support seems to have flagged since Henry Schein took over. I've heard from a number of colleagues that they do not receive the support they once did with Avimark before Henry Schein purchase. I find it cumbersome to work with as it takes a lot of clicks to find the area you want inpatient medical record. The data is not stored in one easy to access location that flows logically and that is frustrating!
Simple to use in general.
Requires a lot of data input to put it to work as full practice management software. Requires a lot of clicks to get all the information you might be looking for in a patient's record.

Avimark is pricey and not user friendly at all. It is a step up from the old green screens however. It is not intuitive and there is no support, whatsoever, unless you want to pay a large fee. So if you have one question a year (which is about what we have) you have to pay hundreds of dollars. Also, if you do not buy their support and you need to restore a backup, the manual says you need to call IT support to back it up. It seems like they are forcing you to pay for it one way or another. This is a drug company, not a software company. There are many other products out there that have support included at a better price.
Susan from VetMarketing100.com
MANY features don't work properly or work at ALL. You can call support until you're blue in the face....and they calmly explain that there's a "ticket on that already. but nothing has been done to fix the problem yet "
And nothing WILL be done.
The interface is UGLY but I could live with it, if ONLY the software worked.
Don't even THINK about adding Rapport, the add-on client communications module...it DOES NOT WORK. The sales people will LIE about the features, and they do NOT work.
Jessica from Westminster Veterinary Group
Avimark is an outstanding program that is so easy to use and learn. It is receptionist, technician and doctor friendly. There are no pop-ups or millions of windows to maneuver to get to where you want or need to go. The customer support department is the best. Need help with anything in Avimark and all you have to do is pick up the phone and talk to a friendly, knowledge customer representative. Avimark is what all other veterinary programs aspire to be!!!!

I own 5 hospital and i am using avimark since
2007. Now I am thinking about setting up a call center for all hospital. It's getting very hard to bring all hospital avimark on one screen. Also as technology changing they are not willing to go cloud base. I don't know how they can compete with cloud base software. It's hard to maintain server when other options are there . Thinking about other software which help to set up call center and cloude base storage.

This software has many benefits. The main one would be that it is easy to use. It helps us keep our records organized and helps us manage the way that we do things here in the hospital. Everything from billing, and notes, to reminders , estimates and updates have been easy to learn. Also the customer support and technical team have been a pleasure to work with. They are always extremely helpful and pleasant.
Mary from Creekside Pet Care Center
We've used Avimark at our small animal, 4 doctor veterinary/boarding/grooming/doggie daycare practice for over 15 years and have converted our other two small animal 24/7 referral clinics to AVImark as well in the past 2 years. We find that Avimark is very user friendly, has great reporting features, and is intuitive for new staff in terms of initial training. AVImark has a ton of features we haven't even implemented yet for our 3 almost-paperrless (paper light!) practices but that means we always are learning new and fun ways to use it! Support is very good but sometimes I feel that the response time to some tougher to figure out problems is a little lacking, and at times we pose a question and may get two conflicting anwers, but for the most part their team is knowledgable and very eager to help, but I realize that they have a lag time in their training, just like we do with our stasff. Our biggest frustration in the past couple of years has been the waning support hours, which means that when we have tech issues or need to do version updates or run other AVImark utilities, the practices must be offline/no software to use for a few hours in the middle of a business day - but that is likely the case with many other PMS options as well so I would just add that to my AVImark wish list - more support hours! Otherwise the AVImark team is eager and open to user suggestions and it's a great program overall - we would not consider anything else!
Jamie from Stonebrook Veterinary Clinic
I have alot of pros. The intergrations with the lab (bloodwork). Works well with downloading into clients medical history. The medical condition is great for chartless clinics and putting in glossary notes which you can customize. Sending emails or text messages to clients through the system. Rapport is the best, love the confirmation of appointments that go straight to the appointment book. All the reports you get so you know the client has received. We are now doing the reminders and I do not have to worry about a client not getting notifications. You get a report on who they sent too. Q & A is by far my favoraite. I have put our protocols in it so the staff can look up things that maybe they forgot. I have so much information in it that my favoriate saying to the staff is "Look in Q & A" and it is there. If not it will there. There is so much in the software that I can't touch on everything but you learn something new every day. Avimark or Rapport Customer Service has alwasy been great when I have called. They really help you solve your problem. The remote in is the best ever. That is usually the first thing I ask with I call, "will you remote in". The only con is a pro too, that there is alot this software can do and learning it at the beginning can be overwhelming, but leaning what all is available will be awesome.
Stacy from Grantview Animal Hospital
We use a lot of their products and the way they integrate with each other is amazing!!! Makes work a lot easier and convenient. They are developing a one stop shopping mentality and providing as many services from a company like McAllister can be nothing but positive for my practices.
David from The Pet Hositals
AVImark is feature rich and powerful. The home screen has more information for the user making navigation to other areas quicker and with less clicks. It also syncs with our distributor to help manage our inventory helping us keep less on the shelf AND run out less often. To boot, AVImark has the lowest ongoing cost of operation of the major practice management software choices for veterinarians.
Rick from Bay Glen Animal Hospital
We have been using Avimark at our two hospitals for over 12 years. We initially purchased this software because of its simple, easy to use interface. The program is intuitive and new employees learn to use it quickly without difficulty. The program has a tremendous number of additional features and functions that are simply a right mouse click away from the main user screen. Our hospitals have been using electronic medical records in conjunction with Avimark's Medical SOAP format for the past 7 years; we would never consider going back to paper records. The program has most the bells and whistles that any companion animal practice will likely ever need or want.
Avimark also has a large number of industry partners that they have worked together with for the development of interfaces for services like electronic lab report downloads for not only for the major reference labs but also many in-hospital lab equipment companies as well, along with wireless patient monitoring during anesthesia. They also have extensive integrations with other programs such as credit card processing so that invoicing clients now has seamless credit card and signature capture, digital radiology images can be linked directly to the patient's medical record for easy access, viewing and much more. They have an optional communication package for texting of clients, and electronic email reminder of patient services due.
Overall, the program is easy to use, has good functionality and versatility and is easily scalable from a single one doctor practice to large multi-doctor facilities with 40-50 users or more. The developer is constantly improving the software, adding new features, fixing quirky issues, etc. Contrary to several other reviewers¿ postings, I would highly recommend purchasing and maintaining the annual software support program. Your practice's information software system is as essential to your business' livelihood as much as your phone system or the electricity to power your lights. We typically see at least one or two major software updates each year, not to mention the value of having customer support available for help with any problems or to walk you through the set up new functions or special features. Avimark is a well-rounded full featured program and is a good value and investment in your practice.
Jack from Rosedale Veterinary Hospital Inc
AVImark used to be a good company, but now that they have been fully sold to Henry Schein (who also owns ImproMed) the Customer Service has gone downhill. If there is an issue, they stop responding to calls and emails. They keep adding unrelated vendors to their program, they continue to keep adding extra fees, until the program has become a hodgepodge of broken software haphazardly "glued" together. The basic part of the software works well enough but advanced features are rough and unfinished. In fact that would be my number one issue, that problems within the program are not corrected. Every upgrade causes parts of the program that was working fine to crash. Sometimes it can take months to fix and sometimes it never gets fixed at all. Their product crashing has resulted in some practices being hit with a major loss of income. Their forums are littered with complaints with no one from the company listening. I expect that in a few short years this company will close or "morph" into some offshoot of impromed/AVImark with all of their problems and none of the benefits. I have used this program for 18 years now. It was a DOS program and it still feels DOS based at times. It is not a true windows program. The software is in desperate need of being updated.

If your looking for software look somewhere else. Tech support is the worst I have ever experienced. They do not even know their product and even when you buy the exact hardware they rec the product fails and they blame you. I am sure there are times when hardware/networks play a role but after spending $10,000 in equipment and IT support I can confidently say it's not on my end. They can not tell you what programs to avoid or how to set up your computers to avoid freezes, restarts, timing out issues. As you can guess I'm looking for alternatives and don't care how much they cost at this point!
Ted from Mavis Road Animal Clinic
I was one of the first users in the early 1990s with a 5.25" floppy disk. It was the only product that offered all the features without extra costs. It was not the easiest to learn but I had been very, very happy with it until around the time Henry Schein bought them. I could not afford the yearly tech support costs nor justify getting new hardware to use the free updates. I have been using the save Avimark version for the last 8 years. When I did use tech support (in the past) it was always very prompt and the staff well trained. I am paperless for 20 years, take lots of photos and have 1 server and 10 terminals. they are all getting old and updating to online appointments looks interesting. I hope it is bug free and internet stable. Will consider updating to this soon. Comments on it would be helpful - about the Avimark's Rapport website and its integration with Avimark. My only other comment is to the clinic that says everything was crashing all the time. I had this once many, many years ago- was a graphics card issue in all the new terminals we got.
Kelley from Beaches Animal Clinic
We've had Avimark for several years and have had issues weekly with the product. It's fairly easy to use and has some great features.....when you're not getting error messages or the system freezes or crashes all together. We frequently have to shut the system down due to error messages. When you call Avimark for support you're on the phone with them for a hour or so rebuilding indexes etc (like we all don't have anything better to do)....just for it to happen all over again the very next week. In March of 2013 they even built an independent server for our practice for the low price of 1820.00 upon THEIR advise. We're still having the SAME issues. Our practice probably has one of the most extensive call logs of all their customers on file. You would think they would offer to come out to our practice to see if they could help us in person....nope. But they will send a rep out to help your practice in person for 995.00 a day! We already pay them 1344.00 per year for tech support and that doesn't include MASH support which they will charge more. I agree with another reviewer who said AVImark "will nickel and dime you". It's true. When you have issues they just try to sell you an upgraded tech support product. Our entire staff is frustrated with this product and wish we had never purchased it. They leave you feeling helpless due to their lack of concern and resolution with your issues. If you like to spin your wheels weekly then this is the product for you.
Michelle from Mass-RI Veterinary ER
After using Avimark for 9 years we're now looking into new software. While Avimark is generally user friendly and "intuitive", some of their modules (esp the SOAP templates) are extremely cumbersome. While some features are great (ie the "whogot" list and the glossary), their inability to keep their product functioning around the clock has pushed us into the pricey decision to find new software.
They were a comparatively inexpensive option when we opened but as we grew, the program seemed to have difficulty handling our volume and kept developing errors. In their defense, we do not use their software in the way they intended (as we hate their SOAP section, yet still wish to be paperless) and this has likely caused many of our "growing pains". The program may work well for someone else and they may never have to deal with Avimark support.
We pay ~$1200 for annual tech support. This covers updates (however they have not told us when updates are available- we have been told by the company that we need to periodically check in to see if an update is available). For this fee, the company only offers tech support M-F 7a-8p and only until 2 on Sat. They're closed nights, Sundays and holidays. Also, their IT specialists (who can really fix problems and not just read prescripted fixes for specific error messages) have even more limited hours. There is no-one with a pager and no matter how much you are willing to pay, they cannot help after hours.
We are a 24 hour facility and Avimark went down late Sat night and despite us calling support first thing Monday am, they did not get us back up and running until late Tues. We then spent 21 hours re-entering data from when we could not use our practice management software. Since this happened, our system still does not work well (very slow with error messages). We've repeatedly called support, been placed on long holds then were told they'd call back (then no one calls). I would give their customer service 0 stars if I could.
In researching other companies (at NAVC and on-line) I have yet to find one (even the really small companies) that does not offer some type of emergency after-hours service (some are pager based and cost more than regular support- but it is still an option). I would strongly consider the hours you may need tech support before buying this program. Also, really try out their soap template if your're considering paperless options.
Janine from Gateway Vet Services
Has the ability to easily integrate with a large array of services. Many services are also owned by McAllister software and designed to function together. Staff transition to its use easily and easy to operate paperless. Tech support well trained and accessible offering remote services and chat. Doesn't give complete financial report ability but was designed to integrate with an actual accounting program for financials.
