Thank you SS, you gave me back TIME!

SS is awesome. The program is easy to use, the customer service is top notch, and it truly gives me time back that I used to not have hand logging down all the vet records.

PROS

The ease of use and having one location for all health information in my barn.

CONS

The thing I like lease is that it is pricey for your average barn manager, farm owner, trainer.

Does everything

The people at Stable Secretary SO responsive! There hasn't been an issue I've raised that they ignored. A few suggestions have made it into fix requests... But mostly it's been so easy and when I don't know how to get the software to do what I want, I get a helpful suggestion that has worked every time.

PROS

This software is end to end. It has helped me track all services - rides, grooming, feeding, medicines, body work, and shows; it's allowed me to streamline our invoice process, it takes me about 30 minutes to do all my billing at month's end; I track all horses, clients, registration papers, membership numbers. I use the integrated merchant portal for payments and will begin using its integrated QuickBooks feature over the next month. I can run a report on any aspect of the business imaginable. For my final act, I'm hanging large tablet in our tack room to replace or white board... SS will become a digital whiteboard where we will all be able to log our daily activities in real time.

CONS

The look. I like a more color-coded interface. It's definitely not fun to look at. Although they're in the midst of planning an upgrade to their user interface, so I believe this will improve. There are a few fiddly things, again connected to user experience I would like to see improved. Ie navigation, not having to pop back to a main menu, not having to reselect a drop down for each occurrence. (I used to work in software quality assurance so I'm a pretty picky customer).

We are about to start delving into improving our online "appearance' - sort of a Spring makeover! We don't aim to do anything drastic, but we want to make the interface nicer on the eye, and - most importantly - make it all more intuitive and easier to use. We've had to deal with these types of "growing pains" in the past. When we add multiple features, it's important for us to then go back to make sure everything is represented correctly in the navigation, etc. Thank you, as always, for being an active participant in our feedback process. Picture

I think it can be a great product but the price is too high. If the price was about half of regular price would be better.

PROS

I really like that it has a picture for each horse.

CONS

The picture doesn’t enlarge when you click on it anymore. Need a summer and winter pictures on the front page.

Hi Jim, Thank you very much for writing us a review! We do love feedback. UPDATE Aug 2019: we have added the ability to expand the horse photo. We will make it a priority to put back the ability to enlarge the horse photos. You can currently upload many pictures of the horse in the Uploads section online, and then access them (and enlarge) from the mobile app - in the Horse's Uploads tab. We do plan to implement the ability to have multiple horse profile pics at some point, that the user could easily scroll through to ID a horse, but I don't see that happening for another 6 months or so. Stable Secretary Review

PROS

I love being able to access all the information I need at any given time. The app updates have been a HUGE plus.

CONS

It is a bit expensive, though mostly inline with similar products. I would LOVE to see a feature for tracking the repairs and maintenance on our farm vehicles (trucks, trailers, tractors). That would really round out the software to cover the whole business.

Reasons for switching to Stable Secretary

The excel method did not allow for the ease of creating reports and searching different information from different criteria. Equine Genie was not user friendly. The interface was lacking. However, the biggest reason for switching was being able to access our information from tablets and phones will in the barn or at shows.

Fantastic for an educational environment!

The staff was very helpful and easy to reach when we were working out our payment process (working for a state institution created a unique situation regarding invoicing). I was very happy with how they helped me.

PROS

I manage the equine program for a state university and am responsible for over 60 horses and a revolving door of student employees. SS is a lifesaver for keeping track of everyone in the herd and making sure no one gets forgotten! The email reminders are a fantastic tool to help me keep track with my busy schedule, and the software works wonderfully for collaboration between myself and my employees. The interface is also very user friendly. I was able to learn the program very quickly when I took over the program.

CONS

It would be REALLY nice if you could create an event such as farrier or vaccination, and add from the list of horses. It's somewhat time consuming to have to adjust each horse individually if you need to adjust the recurring time period or anything. Also, it's not really a big con for me, but if there was anything else I could suggest I would say the user interface could perhaps be a little more visually appealing - modern applications and programs are just so advanced these days that this program appears somewhat basic and bland at first impression in comparison.

Best Barn managment software

This software has made my record keeping and book keeping life so much easier. Everything is done in a few simple clicks. It is very clear in its design and because of that the functionality is far above any other stable management software out there. Our rep is also very timely and thoughtful in her responses, and takes new ideas into her redesigns. I cannot say enough good things about this software!

PROS

ease of use, constant upgrades, simple interface, literally has everything that is needed to completely keep track of an active AA show stable

CONS

the old platform always showed archived horses as active

All your records in one place

Have been thrilled with this software - has taken me from paper health records to paperless!

PROS

Not only is Stable Secretary easy to keep all your health care records, it is easy to invoice, print reports, show entries, and basic information sheets.

CONS

Does not always have the options you might be looking for (for instance breeds, lamenesses, therapies, etc.) Would like to see an add your own option for all the drop down menus

Time and money saver

I have used table secretary for quite a few years now and it’s really saved me so much time and so much money! Before stable secretary I know there were countless services I was performing that I was forgetting to bill for

PROS

I love that I can enter things in from my iPhone right when I do them

CONS

I have a stable of horses and often times I will have 15 to 18 horses getting the same service on the same day and I wish it was easier to add group activities from my phone such as vaccinations, worming, ect

Love Stable Secretary

Stable Secretary made it so easy to maintain billing transactions. My daughter and I ran the farm together. She was mostly in the barn interacting with the customers, dealing with medicines and farrier and such. She could enter details immediately which made billing a breeze! And as stated before, the customer service is top notch.

PROS

The ease of use is the best. Plus the fact that more than one person can enter details from their phone at any time. Also love the fact that it is updated periodically to make it even better. Customer Service is fantastic. And they love to get suggestions!

CONS

Nothing! It's a good. I've tried many different programs and this is the best.

Stable Secretary is continually improving

Record keeping and ability for staff to update and access.

PROS

Stable Secretary offers many features that are helpful in managing our facility.

Stable Secretary

Having 45-70 horses on property can be confusing sometimes and I really appreciate having a system to help me stay on track with all of their schedules. The app they have in theory will be handy, but it is hard to navigate and look up individual records.

PROS

Stable Secretary can keep track of so many different aspects of managing a barn. It can track vaccinations, injections, feed, farrier work... The list goes on.

CONS

Until you get used to where all of the features are located, the layout of Stable Secretary can be confusing. In the beginning there is a lot of clicking around trying to find where all the features are.

Awesome

PROS

I love that my billing is accurate and up to date, I can easily enter items to each customers account as it happens so that i am not forgetting things a t the end of the month.

CONS

not much- it is easy and even my barn manager , who was very skeptical, loves the ease and accuracy of the website and app.

Easy to use Equine Management Software

Stable Secretary is an easy to use software system to organize and run an equestrian business. The customer support is awesome.

The people listen and adjust the software to your needs

The learning curve can be a bit challenging until you go through a few cycles

Its a good program just needs a few bugs to be fixed.

PROS

Everything on this program is in alphabetical order, allows for you to personalize each person and horse.

CONS

There is no way for you to view people that you have archived, it is s though you have deleted them. Under the stable category, the reminders section is never up to date, it does not refresh once you have entered in what it says is past due.

Keeps me going

PROS

Stable secretary help me stay much more organized and able to information as I need.

CONS

Data entry could be more flexible from the desktop and the app is much improved but still has a bit to go.

It’s been a great experience. My horses are organized. I keep track of everyone’s bills, coffins, shots, farriers. It even helps my vet and farrier with they’re billing.

Easy as riding a horse.

I can have all of my horse owners and horses information in the palm of my hand. Being able to also download the app on more than one phone helps every one in the barn stay up to date and informed.

PROS

Stable Secretary is so easy to use that I can do it on horseback. When at the vet I have all the information I need right in my hand.

CONS

It takes a little bit to figure out how often to set up next due dates on joint injections.
