When I have needed support I've gotten the help I needed. - Having client communication, document management, workflows, billing, and task tracking all in one place saves a huge amount of time and keeps our work organized. - It provided a centralized platform that significantly improved organization, communication, and workflow efficiency. While there was a learning curve initially, once everything was set up, it helped streamline daily tasks, reduce manual work, and keep client projects on track. ### Most mentioned cons - Did you know it takes 14-16 mouse clicks just to run a credit card from start to finish? After the initial implementation, TaxDome has been a dream to use. My clients have been very happy with the client portal and the smartphone app. The part that has impressed me the most about TaxDome is that they are constantly innovating and adding new features. The best part of that is they don't try to nickel and dime you when they roll out a new feature. It just becomes part of the software. They are also very receptive to feedback. We have been growing rapidly and needed a way to organize all of our client workflows. It provided everything we needed and so much more. The project pipelines and a great way to see where all of your clients are during the preparation and delivery process and you can set notifications when something is outside of your expected timelines. The price is worth every penny for it. We were able to consolidate several applications into, which helped justify the initial cost. I also really appreciate that you can activate TaxDome managed client portal support. We tried to self manage at the beginning of the season in an effort to save son costs, but quickly realized that letting TaxDome handle that process literally saved us hours. The part that I wasn't necessarily looking for, but now my firm relies on is the invoicing and payment processing. We are able to present clients with an invoice at the time they sign their engagement letter and TaxDome will collect a deposit for us prior to releasing the organizer. Then during final delivery, you are able to paywall the signature documents ensuring that the client pays before they are given the opportunity to sign their documents. This is one of the most beneficial parts of the software for our firm now and we will never go back to sending an invoice and holing we get paid. #### Cons TaxDome is a major investment of your time. They do have some sample workflows to get you started, but setting up a workflow that matches how your firm works takes a fair amount of time. You'll also need to spend a fair amount of time learning how the software works, so that you can get the most out of it. Thankfully the sample walkthroughs will help you hit the ground running and the video walkthroughs are a lifesaver. #### Reasons for choosing TaxDome The price entry point for Canopy was too high for me. The customer service is unmatched they are always available and willing to help. The entire tax management process is seamless it allows for step-by-step support. The organizers are easily reviewed and edited, the pipelines when set up properly allow the workflow to go over easy, and the tax return delivery amongst the abilities to tick mark and never into a single PDF are just game changers. The price has gone up but it still saves a tons of money! #### Cons It is a bit difficult to get acclimated to. I needed time tracking and it makes it very easy to bill that way. Once everything was customized for how I ran my firm, it’s a snap to do anything. Receiving payments is also really easy for the client. I especially appreciated the engagement letter templates and the organizers. Organizers are a bear to create from scratch, these are easy to modify and the client can fill them out easily. They can even upload documents right into the organizer so the don’t forget to upload later. The price is worth it, in my opinion. They usually have specials on the fall to get it going before tax season ramps up. I have not had to call support yet, everything worked pretty well. #### Cons There is still a decent fee for receiving payments through TaxDome payments. Like everything, new software takes getting used to. Customer/User support is very helpful and knowledgeable. TaxDome developers? those in charge are always introducing new tools to streamline the process. #### Cons There seems to be a delay with higher volume of users or the strain on the servers is palpable around deadlines (4-15, 9-15, and 10-15). Additionally there is a current issue with editing documents, when saving your changes and moving on, come back to find the document was not in fact saved at all requiring you to edit the document all over again taking more time. I do not trust document edits until after 5-6 minutes. The "saving" of edited documents is not instant and requires monitoring for the green document saved message. Sometimes it will flash that and you think you're in the clear...nope!
