Schoolauction.net provides users with multiple options for conducting auctions including online bidding, paper bid sheets, live auction and mobile bidding. Users can check in and out of auctions using mobile devices. Users can register themselves online for auctions, purchase tickets and sponsorships and select their meal and seating preferences. The solution provides options for printing bid sheets, catalogs and gift certificates.

Great for an event auction

Pros

So easy for anyone to use. Really straight forward and simple interface with controls people would be familiar with.

Cons

I felt like some of the newer more comprehensive software options generate more money BUT that is much more complicated as well.

School Fundrasier

The overall experience was great.They are some of the issues that i would like to get help on before we use it again.

Pros

School Auction helps me with doing my Fundraiser for the Baseball here at the school i teach. it was easy to use and the other parents in our boosters really enjoy using it. The fact they you can create tickets and other sellable items it wonderful.

Cons

the fact that you that it can be confusing at times.

SchoolAuction.net - not just for schools!

We use this software to run our gala auction, which is in its 16th year. Our event is in February and I have already set up our event page (it is August) and begun entering items. We are able to customize and brand our event pages and all guest interfaces with organization and event logo and verbiage. When we moved from paper and spreadsheet auction administration to this platform our guests raved about the event organization and it has definitely been reflected in our fundraising.

Pros

SchoolAuction, aka Tofino, is an extremely user-friendly auction platform that incorporates simple administration with a guest friendly interface. It stores guest and donor data from prior events to make ticket sales and item entry a breeze. Reporting is comprehensive and easy to customize, although the native reports are so thorough you should rarely need to make your own.

Cons

I don't have anything negative to say. It can be a bit pricey for smaller organizations, but we have found it to be very worth the price.

Pros

Check-in and check-out process was clean and easy to train volunteers on. Worked both on computers and iPads providing options for our team.

Cons

There are times where the system isn't intuitive and finding the needed route of action was a bit buried.

SchoolAuction.net delivered a reliable, customizable, mobile-friendly platform & end user interface.

The benefit of setting up and running a successful auction for 2+ years for our local merchants group.

Pros

Easy to setup with the ability to bring over past donors and payment gateway information from past events, excellent support, reliable performance, helpful reports and the ability to easily contact winning bidders with a follow-up email.

Cons

Improvement to the winning bidder's confirmation email is needed to clearly inform the person where and when their item must be picked up. (This may be an improvement that an administrator can do when the event is set up that's where SchoolAuction.net's responsive support comes in handy!)

Auction went well, had some issues with duplicate user accounts and check vs. cash check outs.

Ability for bidders to register online, checkout themselves and to receive ongoing outbid notifications during our event. The payment/check out piece was very simple.

Pros

Easy to use. The training videos were very good and easy to understand. The initial data entry (bidders, donors, auction items) was comprehensive.

Cons

Download registrants from prior year also registered for this year's event; apparently it allowed it even though an account already existed. If a payment originally was selected as cash but was really a check, not easy to change during check out.

SchoolAuction.net is good software, for a price

Great for auctions that have not used software in the past or for auctions that are bringing in loads of money and need many options. Overall a great product that is easy to use and I would recommend!

Pros

If you run a charity auction, software is A MUST. This software is easy to use and train others to use. It offers many options for selling items including live, silent and online. Charity auction has an easy to create customizable website. There are charts in this software that help with flow of event from getting started to pulling your final reports.

Cons

While not the most expensive auction software,the cost is considerably more than some competitors. You do have an opportunity to pass on credit card fees to people using credit cards at your event. Also, we had a hard time setting up our credit card vendor and linking our bank account for payment. (We did eventually get this figured out and our auction ran smoothly)

User Friendly, Easy for First Time Users, Self-Explanatory

We have used this software for years now. Myself, the last two. It is easy enough to teach the least computer literate person to use.

Pros

It is so comprehensive-- everything from setting up your event, selling tickets, vaulting credit card info to make for a faster checkout, logging all your items... it's all there! And after the event, there is a good system of reports that let you see how well certain items or categories did, which ones earned the most, who your big spenders were-- everything! We liked the software so much that we've also used it for selling tickets to other school events-- you can set up multiple events in the software and just use what parts of it you need for each event. It really is that easy!

Cons

Because so many not for profit organizations use this software, I wish that it could be paid for on a sliding scale; depending on what's it's used for, the people that it may be used for, etc.

Our organization has been using schoolauction.net for many years now, and will continue doing so.

Pros

I like the fact that we can migrate data over from previous years, since many of our donors are the same from year to year. I can then just go in and and customize the information for our event.

Cons

In the past, it was sometimes confusing to set up the ordering back-end, since our needs were so unique. But they've since put in tool tips that help walk you through the process.

we have used School Auction for a couple of years and our group is very pleased.

Pros

Very easy for a volunteer to just sit down and after 1 customer, know how to use the software for check in and check out.

Cons

We only use the program for an auction. The program is not quite right right for our other fundraisers, but the price is still worth the cost of the program.

Pros

We appreciate that SchoolAuction.net is forever improving itself. Supprt truly listens to feedback and then goes about making changes. We appreciate the easiness of the software to use for our Spring Gala and auction needs. We were especially pleased with showing off the catalog last year. Once our pics and descriptions were in and we published it to our families, we were really proud of how the catalog looked. It was very professional and gave our families a huge preview of what was to come at the event.

Just AWESOME! I have never ran an auction before, and even a rookie like me was able to do it!

Pros

Very easy and intuitive. They have valuable self-help tools that help you navigate the system. Very easy to create a lot, make edits, etc.

Cons

It feels like the auction software works better with Chrome then Explorer. When I would log in with Explorer, would sometimes lock up.

The software has helped us solve many of the pain points for performing accounting of our auction.

Pros

It is great to be able to use on the night of our auction. No more scrambling to crunch the numbers during our event and making guests wait while we do so before they need to pay at the end of the night. We have all our items and guests already input and some even have credit cards on file. Our silent auction and live auction items can all be assigned to guests within minutes of the close. Guests even have the option of providing a credit card in advance and we can push out invoices directly to their email. Guests can then confirm purchases and check out on their phones so they never even wait in line to pay at the end of the night.

Cons

We frequently input individual items received into the software and then later bundle them into baskets as part of a larger group. The software re-assigns the basket an item number and then re-uses the item number that was assigned to each individual item in the basket. This makes it difficult to track exactly which items are where and makes it tedious to search by name for an item within a basket. It also means that you can't confidently refer to an item by its number because chances are that it has changed later.

Perfectly easy, user-friendly auction software!

Pros

Easy to use, little to no complaints from our users. We can make the pages look the way we want, to fit our brand. Very customizable. Love the pre-event check-in and post even check out! Fundraising success!

Cons

We have found it a bit hard to make the online auction part look the way we want it to, but we still love it for live auction and fund-a-need!

Absolutely wonderful. Amazing support - intuitive interface - everything we needed!

Pros

Support - from the very first call, to the prompt on-line personal service, to your team not sounding frustrated when I asked dumb questions, to the wonderful, clear, contextual help.

Intuitive Interface - I was a solo catalog manager this year, and it was pretty amazing to be able to step in and get it all done without a lot of time wasted trying to figure out new software. Also, I had a new team of CheckIn/CheckOut people - new to the software and to the volunteer roll - we had NO LINEUPS! because everything went very smoothly on the way in and out.

Cons

I would have loved it if the documents were all available in both word and pdf format. I needed to do a bit of editing and ended up having to recreate a bunch of my documents from scratch.

The ability to let people store their credit cards for use at the event was what I liked most about this software.

Cons

The reports. They aren't really formatted for the tyoe of event we put on, which was not an auction. I would have liked to have a way to easily see how many of each item was sold and how it was paid for at the same time. As it was, I was able to figure out ways to get the info I needed, but it was more time consuming. I understand that you can't please everyone, though, and was very happy with the overall experience.

best auction software out there

Free of stress and headaches on auction night - closing out is simple. The fact that we can store credit card info securely makes us be able to dictate when we close out. The biggest headache of an auction is when people want to leave early, before the auction is over. With this software, we can tell them they can leave (without their winnings) and either later that night or the following day, we can process all payments.

Pros

I have chaired auctions for our school before using this software and since using this software. Never again would I use anything else. I love the fact that it is web-based, multi-user functionality and works with tablets and phones.

Cons

The price tag is a little steep for our tiny little school. But, we pay the renewal fee because it makes things run so much smoother.

Pros

This software is easy to use from a front and back end perspective. The mobile version responds well too. Setting up a fundraising initiative is simple and the customization really allows you to put a "feeling" around your event.

It took a couple of years, but we now use this software pretty seamlessly!

Pros

That they added the mobile bidding option! They also have excellent customer service. Problems are bound to arise, and questions are answered in a timely fashion. Furthermore, they have some great tutorials.

Cons

At times it's a little clunky if you aren't used to where items are located. A clear, basic user video would be helpful so that the mobile bidders/users are more aware of how to use the software to it's fullest potential.
