Great resource!
I have used Epocrates for at least 10 years. I use it multiple times every day to check doses, combination products, side effects and medication interactions. I find it extremely useful.
PROSCan access it from my phone in the exam room very easily. All my medical calculators are easily accessible. I also use it as my infectious disease resource- I can look up a infection and find the latest recommendations. The meds also include pill pictures which I have used to ask a patient to identify what strength med they are on or if it is scored. It also includes some herbal medications which is useful for checking medication interactions( you can put all your medications in a list and it will list all the interaction).
CONSThe cost is not cheap but it is worth it.

Helpful Resource
I use epocrates to answer simple medical questions during the course of my day. It is also helpful with prescribing decisions (e.g. dosing, titration).
PROSI most commonly use Epocrates as an interaction checker. This feature is simple and explains possible interactions in a more helpful way than my e-prescribing software. I also appreciate Epocrates for simple reviews of health issues.
CONSPopups on the app are bothersome. I also often look for more information about medical issues, which I find more helpful on other applications.
Reason for choosing epocrates
Epocrates was more affordable and appears to have a better mobile product (app) than Dynamed, which is where I primarily access information. NEI Prescribe is very helpful for psychotropic prescribing decisions, but lacks non-psychiatric medication and medical/pathophysiological information.
Reasons for switching to epocrates
High cost of Uptodate as an individual user.

I use this resource daily in my practice
I use this resource on a daily basis as a Physician Assistant in my clinic. I use it so much, in fact, that I keep the 'drugs' and 'weight based dose calculator' tabs pinned on my browser so I can access them at any time, and I use them several times each shift. It saves me a lot of time and work to use it. Love it!!
PROSI love using the dosage calculator to figure out pediatric dosing. I use this on every single pediatric patient that I see that I prescribe medicine to. It is easy to fill in the child's weight information about the medication, and then it spits out the correct dosage for the child. It really makes life so much easier than trying to calculate it on my own. I also use it pretty frequently to see dosage suggestions for people of all ages for different medications. I also love the feature of looking up a medication's safety profile for pregnancy and lactation. I also use the adverse reactions tab for the medicines occasionally to know what to warn patients about. I also LOVE the interaction checker. You can put the different medications in there to see which ones will interact with each other and how. This has been a super handy resource to have!
CONSThe only thing that has annoyed me about this is that sometimes I'll get booted out in the middle of using it and have to sign back in. It sometimes takes 2-3 times clicking on the sign-in button to sign back in. Then it will keep me logged in for awhile, and eventually boot me out again.

Game-changer for Healthcare Providers
This is an extensive resource that I would recommend to any healthcare provider. It provides access to diagnostic information and treatment recommendations. In addition, the phone app is well-made and convenient to carry for any provider.
PROSThis software is an amazing resource for healthcare providers. It provides a detailed database of diagnoses, treatment options, pharmaceutical information, and so much more. I am currently a PA student, and I have used this software on a regular basis to find information on case studies from school. I am able to search symptoms, conditions, medicines, and conditions associated with disease to find an extensive amount of information related to every case. While this does not replace needing to know information as a healthcare provider, it is a fast reference guide for staying up to date on the most recent research and treatment recommendations. I will be a long-time user of this resource.
CONSThere is a small learning curve with the software due to its expansive nature. There is so much information present that it may take a user some time to figure everything out. As a user for more than a year, I am still not sure that I understand how to use all of the features of the software. In addition, to access all of the utility of the software, there is a yearly fee. This fee is worth the price in my opinion, however.

This is a great resource for any medical practitioner
Excellent and has really changed my medical practice
PROSThis software allows you to access thousands of drugs in a moment and then allows you to look up dosing, interactions, and common side effects to name a few main features. As a medical student, I find this essential to everyday use on the ward floor and in clinic. A must have.
CONSThere seriously aren’t many things to put in this category, but honestly the worst thing is that it almost has too much information and can make accessing what you actually need a little bit hard.

Epocrates Review
This product is great for looking up drug information questions. I use the free version on my phone at work quite often. It's an awesome product for those who cannot afford to pay for products like Clinical Pharmacology or Micromedex. The app covers all of the basic information that you may need to know about a medication such as proper dosing, drug interactions, black box warnings, and pill identification.
CONSThe only problem with this product is that it is not always up to date with the most current drug information. This has been a complaint of others that I work with, however I myself have not experienced this problem.

Epocrates Used By Nurses
I was introduced to Epocrates in grad school and have found it useful to explore in my spare time on my iPhone. Unfortunately, cell phones are not allowed in the clinical setting.
PROSI like most the comprehensiveness of the information found using the Epocrates app. Nurses can have the drug formulary and pill identification as well as calculators and information about diseases, its ICD codes, and processes at their fingertips. I especially like the research, health related information like current standards and ADA guidelines, and the picture polls too.
CONSI have no comment about anything I dislike.

A practical way for professionals to find medicines on their cell phone or computer
It has been useful to me during the dental visit because it is an easy way to find the medications that I must prescribe to my patients.
PROSEach one of the topics that it presents allows health professionals to know in detail everything related to a medicine and the possible interactions with others; In addition to knowing which medications are specific for a particular pathology.
CONSIf I have to say something I do not like, I will only talk about the color of the page, because it should have more neutral colors so that it does not distract the professional's view.

CONSI think that for an app that is so user friendly and helpful in the clinical setting, its ridiculous that the software inst free.

Fantastic and convenient resource
Great compilation of resources that are easy to access. I have loved using this program in my medical schooling, especially in clinical settings. I love that there is a mobile/tablet app that allows me to carry almost unlimited resources in the pocket of my white coat as I work in the hospitals.
CONSSome of the features do cost extra, and it can be a bit pricey especially for medical students/residents, but it is worth the extra money to have this full resource at your disposal.

Good for Quick Reference on Basic Information
I currently have the free version of Epocrates. The app is generally good for finding out the indications for a drug and other basic information.
CONSThe free version does not have any type of drug interaction checker or pill identifier, which would be helpful. I also don't like how every time I open the app, a series of short article links pops up in front of the main menu and I have to exit out of that first to get to what I want to see.
