Rollbar is a cloud-based bug tracking and monitoring solution that caters to organizations of all sizes. Rollbar supports multiple programming languages and frameworks like JavaScript, Python, .NET, Drupal, Wordpress and Pyramid. The solution can also be deployed on premises at the user end.

Rollbar provides automatic error grouping based on an error's root cause and also gives users an option to customize these grouping rules. Notification filters help users to set and prioritize notifications by error type. The solution also offers workflow control capabilities that allow users to tag issues as active, resolved or muted.

Rollbar enables users to track their deployments, provide information in the form of graphs, manage timeline and maintain deployment history. The solution adheres to industry standards and provides 2048 bit end-to-end SSL encryption, two-factor authentication, login controls and audit logs. Rollbar comes with Rollbar Query Language that allows users to communicate with the database.

Rollbar is available on a monthly and annual subscription basis that includes support via email.

    I tried to use rollbar for a react native project and it was too buggy, i moved that project to another provider

    No one isn't protected of errors, we are doing them unconsciously and even accidentally. As a result, they are influenced on our lives usually badly, especially, if we talk about software that we create for people's consuming. But what if will exist an opportunity to detect and prevent errors before a user stumbles upon them. I am very happy that at the right time I have met the program Rollbar. Rollbar provides real-time exception reporting and continuous deployment monitoring for developers and entrepreneurs. No matter what coding you have used for your projects, the software supports a dozen platforms. And it is easy to set up, just a few lines of a code.Furthermore, just imagine that a few lines of code will give you a chance for a rapid vision of errors, stack traces, trends and affected users. And all of this information will be summarized and grouped in the way that will be more convenient for you. Additionally, I want to specifically note that this program is trusted by such enterprises like Uber, Walmart, Duolingo, Dell, and others, that also means something.

    I can't even describe how good it is. It is incredibly easy to see and get, that platform definitely was created for users and convenience of use. You don't need to waste much time implanting this bug-tracking platform into your system. Rollbar would easily integrate with each your application. The live-time report system works flawless and has lots of benefits. As a result, our workflow proceeds error-free because of fixing them instantly, without random interruptions to the process. You should just go and get it.

    Cons

    I don’t even know what I can say in this section. There is nothing to dislike. This is absolutely the best product on the market, practically without disadvantages. And the number of positive reviews speaks for itself.

    First of all I can setup customized email notifications for most important errors which I think will have serious impact and should be resolved in the first instance. And now only those notifications would be sent to me reducing the overall stress about dealing with every single error even if that is not important at that particular moment. We strongly rely on Rollbar there are helpful alerts, advices and the option to integrate with the browser to report frontend JS errors is very useful. I have used Sentry and other error tracking but nothing can match the simplicity of Rollbar!

    Cons

    There are lots of features that were presented in Rollbar and when I first got a glimpse of the dashboard I found that some of the features have no significance to me. Thus, Rollbar should create something like hierarchy of features that could be configured for each user of program.

    We rely on Rollbar for great client-side error logging

    Rollbar let us drop in an SDK that automatically wired up to capture browser errors without a ton of work on our end, which was a huge time-saver.

    Pros

    Rollbar is great for logging client-side javascript errors (although they can also log errors from a bunch of other sources), and we use their source-map feature to have useful error reports on our minified code. Rollbar also has useful alerting for when a new issue crops up, or an issue crosses a threshold for number of times seen. When we've gone to them for support we've found it to be great.

    Cons

    Rollbar is reasonably good at de-duping the same errors and grouping them into a single item, although that's not yet flawless. They've also got a query language that we've used a little but, although in our experience it is pretty slow to return results (which could totally be on us).

    In comparison with all similar opponents the pricing system is quite rightly. I used to work with some other bug tracking programs and the pricing politics seemed unfair, I mean that you paid more than you got. In case of this tool you do not feel greed or disappointment.

    Cons

    If we are talking about minuses of the product I would say that the company still not so big to work with large corporations with more than three hundred employees. I cannot say that I am sure of it but I think so, but for medium or small size companies it is perfect.

    The main user interface is fairly detailed in providing information that I need most. the ability to sort and filter errors and notifications saves a lot of time and effort.

    Cons

    So far I have not seen anything bad/problematic from this software. It has been very helpful for our team

    An irreplaceable tool for finding errors

    This excellent software allows me to manually combine errors and manage them in a few clicks. I really like the interface, it's very easy for me and gives me all the necessary information. This software is the ideal solution for use in the company. Using the toolbar of this program, I can view information about the error history, such as the arguments related to the error, when exactly the problem hit the application, which browsers were used. Thus, it allows us to quickly find problems that we could not find earlier.

    Cons

    I have nothing to criticize this program as it works perfectly. Is there one point, at my discretion, the interface is a little outdated, but I hope you correct this not a big mistake. I'm sure that there are always opportunities that developers can add in the future to make the program even better.

    We have been using Rollbar for last 3 years and we are not planning on quiting! WE LOVE IT! Easy to integrate into our products. Maintaining crash-free app became a lot easier. Support on HIGHEST level. INTEGRATION with JIRA is also a great add-on.

    Cons

    Integration with JIRA could be more advanced. In our company we use kanban boards and it would be a great feature if we could prepare tickets from Rollbar to automatically have every necessary field filled in.

    Easy to setup, simple to understand emails, good error reporting. Free service too.
    I really like to be able to go into the history of errors, checking them and discovering if they were already happened in the past. It replaced completely email-based error notifications

    Sometimes I feel something is going wrong with errors count but in general my experience is more than positive

    Pros

    It can manage each error like an incident in Pagerduty or a ticket in Zendesk.
    Intelligent clustering and grouping of error occurrences by 10^n. Lots of flexibility in alerting rules.
    Rollbar is enterprise-ready and has on-premise deployments.

    Cons

    The pricing Rollbar has offered via its plans. It is on the higher side when compared with other Crash Reporting tools
    To many script updates (in a short time), the update should be easier (ex. having a central repository in Rollbar for each major version)

    1. Reporting all exceptions and errors
    We just add simple Rollbar code and it catches all unhandled exceptions. Very useful and simple feature, that we use.

    2. Custom error reporting.
    We add some asserts on the most complex part of the code, to catch potential logic errors at the very beginning.

    3. Real-time log.
    When you have to test the production. Instant error logging helps save time.

    4. Assign Owner
    Each error can be assigned to the developer and can be marked as resolved when done. Very useful.

    5. RQL Console
    The new tool, it allows us to create detail data queries.
    Very powerful tool for the analysis of problem areas in our code.

    Cons

    Price plans based on the number of requests. But if your project didn't have a lot of errors all looks good.

    The setup is easy, and the product is very feature-rich. It is powerful and integrates with popular tools (e.g. Github, Slack) to tie into your team's processes. I like being able to push errors from different platforms and languages into one system for alerting and reporting.

    Cons

    The UI generally stays out of your way, but this can make configuring certain things a bit tough (e.g. custom error groupings uses a JSON configuration).

    One of the best features is the solutions tab which provides community answers to common problems.

    Highly recommended.

    * The ability to log via JavaScript!!

    Cons

    The thing I disliked the most was the time it took to implement. After installing the Nuget package, you have to manually wire it up to Rollbar. It took a few days to implement it across 3 different hosted applications (ASP.NET MVC, Web API 2, and Azure Offline Data Sync) using SOLID and DRY principles. Once it was setup, though, it works great!

    Error monitoring done right

    We're Rollbar customers for a about two years, moved to Rollbar after trying few other log aggregation services but none of them had features we needed or didn't deliver on their promise. We're using Ruby on Rails, integration was a breeze, started receiving error messages in less than 5 minutes. The interface is easy to use, live feed works great showing errors as they come up, resolving issues and tracking deploys flows works perfectly. Also I can't recall when Rollbar had downtime or a bug, yet we see new gem releases regularly. I wish other services we use had such a robust infrastructure as Rollbar do. Also I'd like to mention their exceptional support, with very quick responses from highly qualified agents that solve your problems spot on. With Rollbar tools we manage to resolve majority of the issues as they happen, before customers contact our support teams.

    Cons

    Unified dashboard between projects would be great, but can be implemented with their api

    Motivating time saver April 01, 2017 12:38 I'm a Rollbar user since the very beginning of the project. Before Rollbar I've switched a few ways of dealing with logs. First, I was just reading logs when needed with tail and getting a weekly batch of errors by email. That was OK for local development and tiny projects but for bigger deployments that were useless because the amount of data. Then I've found some offline log aggregation tools and these were OK but still required exporting logs, running these tools and checking results. Rollbar automates all that. You're getting a realtime picture of your errors. You can sort messages by the number of occurrences thus getting a good list to work on. Another fun part is how it charges you. The more errors you have the more you pay. Rollbar motivates you to fix things to pay less. At first, I've tried it in personal projects then in a huge commercial project that is already running for more than 7 years. Rollbar saved me hundreds of hours and I'm glad I've stumbled upon it back then.

    Pros

    Saves time. Usability. Features.

    Cons

    One in half a year there's a lag between sending an error and seeing it analyzed. Not a big issue though.

    Haven't used nano php_error.log since I started to use this program

    Starting to use a consolidating error log was a game changer for our developer (and the users of our site). In our company, we try to spend every Thursday to eliminate all the bugs from the site and categorise them as Error or Warning and give them better titels.

    Reading a long log-file make any sense

    As an owner of a start-up, I wish the price was a little bit better if the free version isn't enough.
