Gagetrak

My overall experience is great. their customer service is excellent and the training they provide is top notch.

PROS

I like that gagetrak allows you to keep your gage database all in one place. Calibrations are super easy to do and track. I also like the feature where it emails the gage due list and you can set up the frequency for it.

CONS

Sometimes the software is a bit unstable and crashes.

Great software, saves time!

Time saver, great organizing, and scheduling.

PROS

I like the software to monitor our gage calibrations, and like the cloning feature so that adding new gages only takes a couple minutes. I also like the different reports, and the export feature.

CONS

The inability to edit the dropdown lists are a constant nuisance. The upgrade cost is excessive. I also would like to see more automation.

Application crashes

The application is not very stable crashes very frequently on our Windows 10 computers. Their support tickets seem to sit unanswered until phone calls are made to them. They have a lot of possible configurations for it, but don't seem to know how to support those configurations correctly. Then when troubleshooting, the application is smart enough to record log files of all the activitiy, which includes information that I would think is relevant to troubleshooting it, but support often doesn't even ask for the application's log files, seems like they just try random things to get it fixed. The whole thing has been a very frustrating experience.

PROS

Has all the features needed from software like this. Ability to print calibration labels directly from the software.

CONS

Very unstable, runs but not well. Application crashes at least once a day for the users, and frequently has major issues with getting it running reliably. CyberMetrics support has been unable to determine if it's an issue with the database or an issue with the application itself.

We rarely have issues when we do everything is answered within a quick email

PROS

How quickly it links with the database.. Easy to setup within our organization. Very user friendly!!

CONS

Sometimes the database crashes. When it crashes we have to get a backup from our server and restore it. It happened often at first, but not so much now. When installing the software I have to move the install file from our network folder and put it on the pc that I'm installing it to, otherwise it takes an hour to install. We don't have that issue with any of our other software.

I've been using Gagetrak for twenty years now and still consider it the best on the market

Best way to manage your calibration.

PROS

Compare to everything else on the market it is still the best gage software in my opinion. Easiest one to use.

CONS

It is not easy to fix typos in the categories that save what you write. Also the newer version is not as user friendly.

We like the reporting feature for gages due and gages coming up for calibration.

PROS

Entering gage information is easy and I like the temp recording feature. Once you have established measurement routines they are easy to import into the individual gages.

CONS

The interface can be a little confusing sometimes to find what you are looking for. If not careful can end up in wrong area of software.

Very good software that promotes a solid calibration database.

Better efficiency

PROS

The dashboard is a great feature. It helps me see what I need to calibrate at a glance so I don't have to search the database.

CONS

Sometimes there can be a bit of lag or freezing, but this may have to do with the high memory requirements and the fact that I multi task with different software.

The gauge track is simply used as a counter for tool calibration.

Able to track the calibration dates of the company tools.

PROS

It provides the necessary information to complete required calibration of the company tools and prints out a nice decal.

CONS

The software seems bloated with unnecessary things (for our company). But the most frustrating things is speed, which I know it speeds up when you reset the software. It my opinion, even at its optimum speed, there are too many steps to simply print a certificate for a tool as well as waiting for the last step to complete.

This program is the staple software for all Gauge Techs. I couldn't imagine doing my job without it.

PROS

I like the quick filter as it makes finding gauges super fast and easy. I also really like the amount of data that can be associated with each gauge.

CONS

Eliminating errors made by previous gauge techs can be very time consuming. It's hard to filter the mistakes and correct them.

Fantastic intuitive software that is great for all you calibration needs.

PROS

MSA functions( Reading and Reliability studies, uncertainty, etc.) , scanning certs, printing labels

CONS

inability to open multiple functions at a time and the report editor is difficult to use efficiently.

Good program but very glitchy

PROS

I have worked with Gagetrak for about 7 years with a couple of different companies. The program works well to manage gages and calibration requirements. Being able to customize test points for gage calibration is a useful feature, but is a little confusing when beginning to build your groups. The addition of the "days from issue" feature to calculate the calibration due date really helps cut down on unnecessary calibration of unused gages.

CONS

My biggest complaint is about how SLOW SLOW SLOW this program is. Even if your database resides on the pc you are using, the "microsoft access" platform inhibits performance. If your database is on a remote server it gets even worse. I routinely have to wait several minutes for the database to update even a simple change in information, and the program is very prone to the "not responding" screen fade. This morning it took over an hour to enter just 5 gage calibrations due to how long it took to update after entering data along with the "not responding" messages and random, confusing error messages about incorrect date formats, even though the program entered the date automatically. I finally had to shut the program down and leave several gage calibrations unentered because I had other work obligations that had to be met.

I will say it is unusual to have the experience you describe, but I do note that you are in the medical device industry and if you are using our FDA version, it may be time to take a look at your audit log. The audit log is a part of the FDA 21CFR requirements and if you are regulated by this industry, a bloated log can often be the culprit when you experience performance issues such as you have noted. Simplifies calibration tracking and monitoring.

PROS

Very customizable. The Dashboard overview is very helpful. The ability to view it as a database makes it easier to accomplish lots of data entry. The automatic numbering and cloning functions make entering new tools and gages easy.

CONS

Report customization is difficult to learn. There isn't an option to extend calibration cycles without entering a new calibration.

Regarding your calibration cycles: We recommend that you change the frequency at the time of calibration so that there will be a corresponding cal record to go with the frequency change and a place in history to document the change. That being said, you can update frequencies and due dates between calibrations by simply changing the due date and clicking the next cal button in Gages (GAGEtrak will recalculate the due date). If you change a frequency and date this way, we recommend that you document it because the next due date at the time of the last calibration is stored in the cal record and therefore is a part of history and not updated when the change is made to the frequency and a situation where the next due date in gages does match that of calibrations is not desirable. Gagetrak has been such a valuable resource for us. The software makes audits a breeze.

We use this product daily to keep track of our gages. With this software we can flag when gages are due for calibration, have access to their procedures, and keep records of all our calibration.

PROS

For me, I like the amount of information you can have all at one place. With a few clicks of the keys I can answer any question an auditor may ask. What used to be stressful wondering if I could find what they needed in my filing cabinet has now become a time of ease. I just sit back and strike some keys and all the info is right there.

CONS

That is a more difficult duestion. I have used a couple types of calibration software in the past and to be honest, this has been my favorite. I guess my personal issue has just been trying to learn everything this software offers. I have spent many hours jumping in head first figuring out all the things Gagetrak can do.

Good software but after the 7.x upgrades it is full of bugs

It useful for audit situations and is compliant.

PROS

It is easy to use and find the pertinent information that you need and works well for being audited and reviewing records.

CONS

Too many bugs found in the software. After leaving open for a period of time, the software becomes unbearably slow. Some disabled menu items still work (graphs, charts) which can causes DLL errors if tried to access. I don't like how runtime Access has taken over my computer. I still use Access for other applications and I have to work around this. I have built Excel spreadsheets to access the database to quickly retrieve data because using the software to view and filter reports takes way too long. Software is slow.

Technical Support is great!

I have been using Gagetrak daily for ten years and have had several version across those years. Over ten years ago I inherited multiple databases for multiple work groups. Each database was unorganized and cumbersome. Over time Gagetrak has allowed me to create one database for those multiple work groups. Gagetrak has made it far easier to create a better organized database which has made it easier for me to manage that work on a daily basis.

PROS

How customizable it is (Naming of fields in different tabs, ability to customize reports and labels, etc)

CONS

Dropdown list management was a great addition with version 7, however there are some fields that do not have a dropdown option.

Very professionally set up software. Makes calibration date keeping easy.

Keeps are tools within calibration and helps us achieve IRIS/ISO certification after process audits.

PROS

The prompt look ahead that shows what is coming due in the months to come. Most used function in our company.

CONS

The reporting ability. I wish there was a way to export all data on all gauges to a simple spreadsheet that can be made into a pivot table. This would be good as other departments without the software frequently ask questions about location/availability of a tool and an exportable excel sheet that can be put into a shared folder for all functions to see would be a benefit. This would also give us capabilities to produce KPI's.

Gagetrak is a good basic calibration software.

Gagetrak is an overall good but not great program.

PROS

Gagetrak is pretty simple and straight forward. It allows you to record enough information and not overly complicated.

CONS

Gagetrak did leave a little to be desired. Its very simple without all the bells and whistles of most calibration software programs.

Customer support and training is exceptional. very thorough. Took us from struggling to succeeding.

We got our calibration tracking off paper and into a database, improving accuracy and providing a usable history. Improved our reporting and availability of calibrated items.

PROS

It is a thoroughly, thought out database, that covers about anything that might come up with calibrated inventory. There are lots of customizable fields. Once training is complete it's easy to use and pretty robust. GageTrak covers the essential pieces needed for managing calibrated items.

CONS

Users can login but that doesn't control their interface, meaning each user has to reset their fields after someone else uses the computer. Very frustrating. Reporting is tremedously slow. Very difficult to get customized reports to behave correctly. Software in general is slow and prone to locking up if you get in to much of a hurry. These may be solved once they go to .net format.

I use Gagetrak daily and am mostly satisfied with the operation and functionality

I use this daily to keep our calibration system current

PROS

easy to pull reports for calibrations due. Easy to enter new calibration records. You can attach reports from emails directly from the software if you have a compatible email system. gagaetrak seems to be a respected name with auditors

CONS

You have to go thru 3 different screens to print a calibration certificate. Editing or creating new reports is cumbersome. Wish you could designate a different printer than your default for the software. Attaching reports from Gagetrak to emails would not work until we changed email systems. Im nor using the mpost current version but it seems rather outdated

I use GageTrak every day and I find it's a very convenient way to track all my gauges.

Ability to store, maintain, track calibration on all my equipment and gauges. Quickly obtain history, calibration due dates, calibration providers, etc.

PROS

Ease of use. Gauges are easy to find, update, clone. Calibration records are quick and easy to enter and print new calibration labels, as well auto schedule next due calibration.

CONS

Reporting capabilities. I find creating reports to be difficult. Exporting calibration data and gauge listings is not as simple as I would expect. Ability to clone a standard group, rename it, and modify it would be very helpful.

Have used Gagetrak for more than 10 years.

Reliability but only one "User defined" field

PROS

Very comprehensive and reliable. I like the "Clone gage" function and the Daily reports. I often copy and paste the "Data Sheet View" to do a weekly inventory of all gages.

CONS

Cannot copy/paste more than one item at a time? I'm changing "Standards" to be more uniform among gages but having to go through one by one. I don't really understand all of the functions (I was not the original installer). Not enough customer support.

GAGEtrak has always been a great product to use, always good to see new updates.

PROS

Easy to work with, our less computer savvy employees are able to start using within a couple hours of training and can manage the system with ease. After going to training and learning so much more than I had picked up on my own, we were able to implement and use so many of the cool features to make our calibration process that much easier.

CONS

Initially we had the FDA version even though we are a automotive facility, and it was really, really slow, but once we got changed over to the regular version we haven't had any issues. Cannot think of anything that we don't like about GAGEtrak.

Works well for us. Can be easy to delete items if were not careful

Keeps us on track and is gives a ongoing record of our peoples performances

PROS

The ability to keep and retrieve on going records plus search for items. Our job requires differnt frequencies of calibration to be done and then monthly pull up the jobs. It keeps us organized and shows us what needs to be done and when.

CONS

Sometimes it can run slow or crash. Other times we struggle with 2 people being on the same program which also bogs us down (might be more internal). As shared above it's easy to write over something and click enter by mistake and lose our data.

Perfect software for our smallish sized company.

PROS

GAGEtrak Soft ware is extremely easy to master and navigate around in. It has amazing report building capabilities that make my job so easy. The support has always been first class as well!

CONS

I still can't upload my certs, but its more of an operator issue than a software one. I cannot think of anything I would change, it suits our company perfectly.
