How Mainsaver works with us every day.

I have always enjoyed using the product, and it works well for us. Support has always been responsive, and hasn't had an issue they haven's solved yet.

PROS

I was involved in the early stages of setting up and using Mainsaver when it was a DOS based process. We have used the product for 30 years, and never considered changing to a different platform. I like that you can't just delete information, since it is attached to other records, but utilities are provided to correct or update information entered. I like that everyone can be given access to meet their specific needs withing the system. I also like that I can see the history and access older PO information as needed.

CONS

No. For our use, it integrates perfectly.

Reason for choosing Mainsaver

Another facility owned by the same company was using that product. After experimenting with it and speaking to various representatives, we decided to stay with Mainsaver.

Backend Management Simplified

We use Mainsaver to keep our maintenance and operations team going at full efficiency. Our engineering team tracks calibrations as well.

PROS

I use both Core and Connect in our business. We like Core for our power users and its administration features. Connect is excellent for anyone who needs to submit a request for service, very easy to use.

CONS

Would like to be able to attach a JHA to a job plan, as that isn't possible yet. We sometimes see instability when used with Core through vmware Horizon. I would also like to see an easier way to link invoices/attachments to our Core users.

Reason for choosing Mainsaver

Cost was definitely the driving factor here.

Mainsaver

Wish I could say that we could use it to track costs and help with budgets. But that never happened either.

PROS

The people provided good service.

CONS

It was promised to be able to interface with Great Plains. One of the main reasons we choose Mainsaver. Was told Mainsaver had ex Great Plains people and interface is a snap. This never happened. Also, other similar products can schedule maintenance on beginning of month, or second Tuesday of month, or first week of 2nd quarter etc. Mainsaver could never figure that out or give us that option.

Reason for choosing Mainsaver

Cost, promise to interface with Great Plains, and used JBS mainsaver in the past.

Reasons for switching to Mainsaver

PMC did not interface with Great Plains and we wanted a one PO system. Mainsaver doesn't either so we probably shouldn't have switched or chosen Mainsaver.

Review

It has a lot of nice features and overall is a good program. It is not user friendly though when it comes to the warehouse that needs to move or re-organize its warehouse as moving parts and updating their new locations is time consuming and tedious to do which deters one from wanting to relocate parts for organization.

PROS

Product is mostly easy to use. Do have some issues with the parts location section. See below.

CONS

1. Cycle counting does not always seem to work correctly. 2. Does not have a "mass update" feature for parts. 3. Moving parts to a new location is time consuming. (no mass update) 4. Hate the feature that a new location line pops up when going to the location tab for a part. It slows the process down for doing updating. Get rid of this feature please!!! Just use the "Add" location button if needed.

Mainsaver Efficieny

Mainsaver is an excellent tool for customer service complaints verifies all calls. Equipment Mainsaver provides an accurate financial background of cost to date.Time entry verifies employees working on equipment through asset number.

PROS

Working with the public Mainsaver has documented every call that we have with sewer complaints. It allow us to track an address and our investigate notes are entered into Mainsaver. When inquiries are requested we can provide the history of the address.

CONS

I don't know how to use the exporting tool. I would like to export into an excel spreadsheet.

Mainsaver Maintenance Management

It's an average application. It serves its purpose which logs work requests, assets and PM schedules. But generating reports is a pain.

PROS

Application is fairly easy to use once you're able to log into the system. Able to switch back and forth between modules quickly.

CONS

The Management Reports were not useful and loading the application takes a few minutes at start up, with lots of issues many times from scaling display, Horizon errors, or query errors leading to application closure. I think the most least favorite function was exporting reports which looked like a jumble mess that involves a lot of editing to make it possible to understand the data.

Mainsaver: Power Plant CMMS

I use Mainsaver a lot, and push certain aspects to the limits of their functionality. It has a lot of potential, and some important deficiencies. Overall, it has improved our plant reliability and helped us improve our processes.

PROS

Mainsaver helps us link our PMs and corrective work to our assets and tracks our asset lifetime costs. We use it with the goal of reliability.

CONS

Mainsaver is not very user friendly, windows don't resize, and admin settings are very intricate and hard to decipher.

Generally positive. Most of the issues I'm dealing with relate to the data we inherited from past management. Customer and tech support have been first rate and generally able to do what we need to do.

PROS

Seems easy, able to configure etc locally without a lot of code. Good customer support.

CONS

Missing some functionality found in bigger systems.

Not bad at all.

PROS

It is simple to collect the information and to look for some workorder, material or labour time. You do not have too many training.

CONS

Its layout is not nice for the user. In some cases, I needed more workorder information related to technicians who performed the activity, the work time for every technician, delays and a large explanation about the task of everyone, and Mainsaver don't have this fields. Also, this software just have costs related with materials, but it is necessary to have cost related to labour and miscellaneous.

Mainsaver review

PROS

It makes it easy to keep track of work that needs to be done and what has already been done.Can plan outage schedules using the preventive maintenance and maintenance modules.

CONS

We usually have internet connectivity issues and when they happen, many error messages pop up, preventing the application from being closed and erasing the information that had been written and not saved.I think a reconnection feature that doesn't crash the software is a very important quality of life feature that could save a lot of technician's time.

Not impressed with "new Mainsaver"

Mainsaver causes more lack of productivity for me. I can't stand it.

PROS

I have used mainsaver since it's earliest inception as a Citrix program. I thought it was terrible then. I grew to tolerate it for several years. The new mainsaver is terrible. It is very hard to use. Printing the PMs is a frustrating, TIME CONSUMing exercise in futility. The new hires we get give up on it right off the bat and won't even try to get accustomed to it.

CONS

See above. NOT user friendly. It may be partially due to our IT support.

Mainsaver...

It does what you want it to but not without many work arounds. when asking for changes from Spidex get the answer...mainsaver say that's not in the next update and are not working on it.

PROS

Mainsaver is a one stop shop for purchasing, projects, stock mangement and CMMS. Does a lot of things.

CONS

Does a lot of things badly....why can't there be more than 2000 characters in the action field! Why is the scheduling window so cluncky and impractical? Keep having to find ways around issues that are generated after every update.

Awful. This program is so bad that i am currently looking for another job in procurement that does not use this program.

PROS

Modules makes it easier to find where you need to go.

CONS

About how inconsistent this program is. Not user friendly at all. Customer service response is always, "There is nothing we can do". Changes default settings constantly. Had to pay just for upgrades that should have been included in any program. After saving purchase orders, fields disappear for no reason.

Mainsaver-Time Extender

Tolerating!

PROS

We have used Mainsaver for years for the generation of Work Orders and some asset management. Works well for this.

CONS

Definitely not user friendly. And definitely not an accounting program. Customization is only at the Mainsaver techs level. Difficult to make changes internally.

PROS

I like the Dashboard feature the most. The Dashboard feature is very user friendly and allows the user to set up all features that need to be used daily for their assignments. It is very comprehensive data.

CONS

I least like the Setting up of new users feature. Setting up new users in Mainsaver could be easier to accomplish. It seems that the employee could automatically be added to the system upon employment without so many steps.

Very positive. In my opinion their services staff is what makes them stand out. From support to implementation.

Since it is a 45-year-old application, there is user configuration by role to scale back the functionality designed for production, energy, pharmaceutical, higher education, municipalities.
