On the occasions when I've needed help, I've consistently found the email support to be prompt and effective. I'm very happy with the product and with CSR and his team!

I've used EDD for 5 or 6 years across multiple personal projects and have used it when building e-commerce websites for clients, too. I like the ease of setup and that there are numerous integrations available for payment gateways, affiliate programs, email marketing services, and more.

I don't really have any complaints. Getting started costs can be expensive but in the context of annual cost required to facilitate sales in my business, the cost is quickly recouped.

We were able to offer subscriptions and service purchases via both PayPal and Stripe with a minimal time and financial investment. EDD offers a whole host of extensions, which causes the plugin to be extensible by design. We have taken advantage of multiple extensions to avoid the cost of building these things ourselves. But also, we have been able to further leverage the extensibility of EDD and build our own customizations to refine the buying experience for our customers. It's been a huge part of our business for 5+ years and I couldn't imagine trying to achieve the same results without the assistance of EDD (and their support team along the way).

The two biggest reasons I chose EDD was the Stripe integration and the recurring/subscription integration. Having a pre-built solution for these two things is a huge win.

Admittedly, several of our products are services and not in the realm of typical for EDD. This has presented some challenges in integrating with our back-end systems. But that also points to one of the amazing things about EDD, it's extensibility.

Incredibly frustrating. I watched dozens of hours of outdated videos and spent money for pro versions of a theme and a page builder which only added to my confusion. While I am not a web designer, I do have many years experience in managing and adding features to two websites, one of which is a forum with over 50,000 members and the largest of its kind. In hindsight, I am not surprised that EDD's showcase of existing sites apparently doesn't show any sites that are individually owned and operated stock sites selling digital art as I am seeking to do.

Its promise of being capable of doing everything I want to do with a website. I sell digital art with a current portfolio of more than 5000 images. I also want to add a number of computer graphic services.

The fact that it's not a complete package. I still need a "theme" and a "page builder" which are new terms for me that I don't understand in trying to use them as well as what each does when and why some things do not work as expected.

Of the few times I have contacted support, our rep has gone above and beyond normal help. I had a conflict with one site, and he wrote a plugin to fix the incompatibility. Our rep rocks!

Easy Digital Downloads has taken my dream and made it a full-time job! I love Easy Digital Downloads and would recommend it to anyone.

EDD is easy to use and the customer flow is simple/reliable.

It doesn't easily integrate into many Wordpress themes (at least to look good).

We are still developing this side of our business but overall we are pleased we chose this option.

It is fairly easy to set up and with all the plugins there is not a lot you cant do with it. It integrated easily with most email solutions and payment providers and you can use off site storage for product delivery with no real effort.

Customising the look and functionality needs some skills. You will need to have the top package with all the plugins to use it properly if you can't commit to the whole bundle don't bother. This is probably the only drawback - it might be better to only offer the full package as some users will be frustrated by the need to buy more bits when they get going.

I feel stuck purchasing it for my freelance services but am being overpriced.

I use EDD because I am a transcriptionist and operate a transcription service through my wordpress app. I found this to be more applicable than woocommerce for my particular situation.

The pricing is outrageous especially to add of simple features. The high-cost extra features are crazy over priced. It doesn't function with other plugins and basic wordpress features as well as woocommerce does.

It is easy to setup and use. Easy Digital Download solved our need for customers to be able to download our software after purchasing. Customer sales information available with a few clicks. We can offer discount codes, track downloads and more... Great piece of software..

All of the additional extensions you must buy even for some simple functions . Some seems a bit pricey.

Easy Digital Downloads has been a really good experience and saved me hours of development on a few different sites already and has been nothing but great.

One of the best things about Easy Digital Downloads is the Software Licensing add-on that allows you to manage different product/API keys for your plugins and software. Save a lot of time developing a custom solution and with a few minutes of setup and configuration everything works as to be expected!

I don't think there's anything that I didn't like about the software but I did wish there were better bundling options feature wise. It was a bit hard to setup upgrades (or my own product) to different tiers and subscriptions without having to do something really custom.

WooCommerce was too much of an overkill just for digital products. So, EDD was one of the choices considered and after some testing it turned to be the better choice.

This ha been so smooth I've never considered switching to a competitor.

Easy to install. Assistance and hints simple to understand. Most common payment methods implemented. Provides ability to easily create a test environment and switch over when ready for production.

Doesn't track free downloads - have to be dealt with separately.

It is the first platform that I am introduced to after installing WordPress and the first thing that I learned hand to hand with WordPress. I see the logic and I like the simplicity about that platform...maybe if there were more lessons for it..more ready to use bundles for example stock website for photographs - here are the needed products, themes, plugins, and settings...enjoy...for e-books..for membership..for freelancers platform for selling services and so on.

It's simple to use and specially designed for selling digital products from my website. This is what I've been looking for. All the YouTube tutorials point to this platform ti be best for digital goods.

It's very hard to find addons that are compatible with this platform. For a beginner (as I am) it is hard to understand why something is not working properly even when the plugins are designed for this platform..sometimes there are conflicts. Not many plugins are made for this platform and the only option to find the right plugin is with trial and error.

One other thing that I really appreciate about EDD is the support. So I had a few questions and contacted support a few different times. Their answers to me didn't make me want to set my laptop on fire. We all know customer support that might fill up some pixels with words and such but actually not answer the question. Or make assumptions. With the folks at EDD I got quick responses that were helpful and actionable. It's been more than 1 year since I last contacted them but I remember well how much I liked interacting with them because THEY DIDN'T WASTE MY TIME. For that reason alone you should pull the trigger and use Easy Digital Downloads if it makes sense to your own website's goals.

I've used the free version of EDD for a couple of clients, and it worked perfectly. A new client wanted more functionality and rather than code something myself, I used their free downloads addon (which isn't free, and I know! The name is confusing!) so that the client could have a record of who was downloading various files available on their website. This remains the first and only premium plugin to work so intuitively, easily, that I didn't have to clog up my computer with screenshots so that I could show the client how to use it. Simple and elegant.

The only issue I had is so minor it should not be an impediment to anyone thinking about getting their own copy of the plugin. It's that this free downloads addon has / had it set up on the admin panel "Customer and product" as if the interaction were a purchasing one. A little confusing to my client, an NGO type of organization with no e-commerce on their website.

Has been great. Does what it needs to do and very easy to operate. Has paid for itself many times over. Implemented customer reviews a couple of years ago, which has improved sales.

Since I only sell a handful of digital products (spreadsheet templates), I wanted something simple and inexpensive, but effective. EDD fit the bill. When I started using it 5 years ago, it was a little buggy, but it now pretty bulletproof and has a lot more features and add-ons.

When first launched several years ago, I got too many sales that did not complete for one reason or another, but this is no longer a problem. Biggest issues has been integrating with 3rd-party email program. Somewhat tricky for non-programmer.

The experience has been entirely positive in every respect. I could not recommend this strongly enough to anyone considering this type of extension suite for their Wordpress website.

This is a fantastic product, supported by a dedicated and skilled team. The software is at the heart of my small digital download-based business and does absolutely everything I need it to.

Some of the reporting features could be improved, but I believe this will be sorted in the next major release.

It works just how you'd expect it to, and with very little effort. The hardest bit was finding the shortcodes to setup a members area. But other than this one area, everything is just as good as you could expect.

So easy to use. Unlike WooCommerce, EDD doesn't sell you extensions that appear to come from WooCommerce directly but turn out to be from 3rd parties. Likewise, EDD actually does what it says it will and it does it quickly and easily. WooCommerce on the other hand gets you to buy numerous extensions only for you to find out that you can't actually sell a subscription pass for subscription based products. With EDD every combination is possible with very little work required.

It's a little bit expensive for a new store.

I have been using EDD for last 5 years for my online stores which sells templates. I still do not find a better alternative :) Their support team is amazing. Sometimes the plugin owner him self reply when a question is asked.

I had setup my Digital Shop in 2014 to sell WordPress Plugins I started building for WordPress eco-system.

Payments Solutions, Software Licensing, Recurring Payments and Set up WordPress auto-updates are the BEST.

Probably nothing so far :) It's hard to say on Cons.

I am using Easy Digital Downloads together with Software Licensing add-on for license key generation & management (activation/deactivation). It works pretty well and is easy to use. I have explored other options but have decided to choose EDD for ease of use and cost-effectiveness.

Easy Digital Downloads is easy to use and free. I have been using it for 6 years now and do not have problems.

I cannot think of what I like least about this software. It is working well for my digital downloads store.
