Worked for Years

Helped us accurately track our payroll and cut down on guys clocking in before they got to a jobsite. Minimized waste and time theft

PROS

Time tracking was pretty easy, the crew was used to it. Never wanted to change and have to get everyone used to a new system.

CONS

The reporting and form functions were cumbersome and seemed to take forever. Connecting took a long time and nothing ever seemed to be a quick click of a button

We were joining a couple other companies that were using About Time and decided to stay with the same product.

Buyer Beware

This program is great until you have questions or they have updated the program. If you don't purchase their yearly support and certain things aren't working for you, they will not help you!! They won't even talk to you if you don't give them a credit card on the spot. This is terrible customer service. If I were to work with my clients on those terms, we would be out of business! They don't tell you that you have to buy the yearly support to function right. Our GPS has stopped working all together and I have an employee who's phone isn't working at all with the program after I have done everything I was trained to do to activate. Here is the response I was given over email: The reason GPS is not working is due to a change on the providers side. Because the provider we used for GPS Maps changed their code on how information is delivered, we had to rebuild our software to meet their standard. If your support is current you have the ability to update the software and it would be working again with no additional charge above the yearly support plan. However, since you are out of support, even if it is broken there is nothing we can do to resolve it. WOW!! WE spent a lot of money to purchase this program. Apple doesn't make me pay for updates, my computer company doesn't make me pay for updates. This is absolutely ridiculous to me. Save your money and look for a company that is willing to support their program without an extra fee.

PROS

Easy to use and change back and forth from job to job.

CONS

The support is horrible is you don't buy their yearly support.

About time clock

overall the pros outweigh the cons but it just was not what we needed for our company

PROS

This program was user friendly makes it easy to enter muliple entries at a time

CONS

what i did not like was that you cannot generate time reports per specific jobs and cost codes

AboutTime Review

I really like that when I need something I can always reach out to AboutTime and talk to the same few people. They seem to have great employee retention, and that says a lot about their company.

PROS

The software on the phone is very easy for the end user to learn. It's very basic and that is a good thing.

CONS

The admin side was a bit more difficult to user. The initial set up on cell phones requires inputting a static IP address and user name and password. Reviewing timesheets is a tedious task. The way ours was set up, you would have to go in and edit each "in and out" because our people would forget to clock in at the beginning of the day or out at the end. I think it could've been set up a little better but our users didn't make things any easier on us.

Reason for choosing AboutTime

It was user friendly and cost effective for us. We were shown a great demo and that is what sold us.

This software is good for what you get but needs to be updated.

You have all your equipment, jobs, and field notes in one place which is great so you know where everything is when you need it.

PROS

Once you understand how this software works its easy. They have great customer support who can help you along the way as well as videos to watch so you understand from the beginning how to use the program.

CONS

This system just needs to be updated a little more. There's other programs that have updated and I think if it would update as well and not be so frustrating to work with at times customers would be happier with this product.

Great Tool For Mass Time Entry

I Use About time every day. It is very easy to use and monitor time entrys. There are times that the app crashes and it takes a while to start up. One feature I would like to see added is a timer reminding you to enter your time at the end of the day.

Our support team verified that they have not been contacted about any issues with the software application crashing. We reached out to discuss this with the Vaughn Construction and they did confirm that the performance issue was a result of poor cellular coverage on a tablet using an air card to synchronize data to AboutTime. The crashing referenced in the review had only to do with one employee that was trying to send data where he did not have a cellular connection and was not an AboutTime software performance issue.

Great Customer Service

PROS

The customer service was top notch! They were always kind and professional.

CONS

The transferring of time from the field to the server had to be done by syncing. In order to sync they had to turn off their wifi. This was a struggle for some employees to handle. They are no longer supporting this software so we had to transition out.

About Time has significantly improved the time entry process at my company.

PROS

What I like most about the software is the various different ways to sort each time entry. My company has a lot of employees and it makes it much easier to sort through everything with all the features provided.

CONS

What I like least about this software is the process of adding/editing filters to sort through lists of employees/entries. Each time we layoff or hire an employee, a new filter must be made to show each change and it is a time-consuming process to do so.

Good time management software, but out of date UI

PROS

The software was setup to have an integration with our accounting software thus allowing us to track time both in the field and in the office. This made an all-in-one solution to time tracking for the company. This allowed us to track by project/cost code, and to track by GL codes for G&A expenses.

CONS

The software looks very out of date and acts very out of date. This makes it feel cumbersome and slow. Users are often complaining about its functionality. It isn't simple and easy to use.

Good product with strong support and functionality. Sights set on the future.

PROS

Great support and a product that overall offers most of the functionality that we are looking for. Moving to a cloud-based platform in the future.

CONS

Not fully-cloud based. Integration with our current payroll specialist (blend of our process and the output files produced by our payroll company).

Updates to the control center

Zach has helped to update the control center with new changes we had requested. Zach showed me how to use the new additions. Zach also helped to set up new pay grounds and overtime rules. Zach is very good at getting back to me when i email him with queries. On another note, as a front end user it would be good if AboutTime contacted us to gain feedback on how we find the system and glitches we come across. For example the history function does not always work.

Accurate time accountability. Easier job costing. Ease of exporting into our sytem

Integration with our main software was easy. Helps keep accurate time for employees. Holds employee's accountable. Easy to access help on the phone.

CONS

Can be confusing if not trained properly. Employees have to remember to "Sync" their time

Time sheets for foreman on the field.

It is user friendly even for the employees that are not computer savvy.

PROS

When an employee is entered into sage it syncs to the device. You are able to create crews for each foreman.

CONS

Having to invest in palm pilots and then switch to phones. This unfortunately was a loss for our company.

Time Tracking, Job Cost Tracking and Equipment - biometric and other security options

We have used this software for 5 years and it has kept up with the evolving technology. Now they offer Biometric Fingerprint, RFID and Face Capture. I can't say enough about the job cost budgeting. It has saved us countless dollars on labor and overhead expense. The GPS and job info navigation is something our field crew use each day when performing service orders.

I want more information on About the various functionality that exists in About Time

PROS

The functionality within the system seems to be very flexible. We have a multiple location company where many people need access and the system seems to be able to accommodate this well.

CONS

I do not understand all the features within the system yet and I feel that there is much more that can be done within the system that we are not doing.

Very easy to use, and navigate. Keeps jobs and workers organized and easily manageable. GPS is great

PROS

The GPS and ability to check in on crews when you aren't on site directly is very helpful to make sure people are showing up to work on time.

CONS

GPS sometimes goes out of range or posts and inaccurate locations which can lead to issues with workers.
