The implementation was a little bit clunky for us. So I know they're working hard to make sure that that's super smooth. But to be honest most payroll implementations with all the other apps out there are a little bit clunky so it's not something that's going to really change. Something that's missing from most of the payroll apps out there right now is that holiday pay love; for B.C. we don't do it the same way as the rest of the country. So in order for us to do our stat holiday pay calculations correctly in this province, we need to be able to input the hours on a daily basis and none of the apps are supporting us with that at the moment.

So the amazing feature for this app is that it is a trifecta of an HR app, a benefits app, and a payroll app all in one. So it is not only just a payroll app but it's also a place for you to store your HR employee files and as well they have some benefits pieces in there as well. They do offer benefits programs too so it's all nicely organized in one place for you. Some more of the top features; it’s super easy to run the payroll if you’ve used a payroll app before, it's pretty similar. It’s really easy to use and there's an employee portal as well which makes it really easy, you don't have to print off or email pay stubs. The employees can go there and grab the information when they need to. They can also go in and change their information too which is pretty awesome. So they can update their address and other contact information. It does direct deposit, so again, they put in their banking information, the manager doesn't need to see it, no need to collect any forms of their banking information on it. They go in there, they get that set up and if they need to change it, they do that on their own. So it gives the employees the power to control their information. As well, on the H.R. piece, you can store contracts, policies, any kind of documents that you would want somebody to sign off on, and there's an e-signature capability in there so they can sign off on it.

the H.R. component of the app is cool but it's pretty basic at the moment. So you upload a document and then you can get the signature, you can see if people signed off on it. I think I'd love to see them move into adding more of an LMS (learning management system) piece within that too, so that you could do your employee onboarding or training through there. Maybe have some checklists, content videos, tax, what have you, and for the employees actually go through their onboarding through the app and be able to track where they're at and which programs they've completed and not completed.

I have been using Knit since 2018. I like their payroll process, reporting system, easy onboarding process and year-end docs generation. I haven't tried leave and time tracking yet, but going to give it a shot in 2024.

Until now I haven't found anything I didn't like.

I have had a great experience with Knit so far. They are very supportive in helping you learn and understand their software.

I love that they have payroll specialists to support me when needed. They file my payroll taxes, submit my RoEs, and submit my T4s for me. This is great and super convenient.

Vacation adjustments are manual. Coding options for a second Wage expense account need to be done manually.

Overall great payroll software, which we managed to DIY for a few years. We've recently upgraded to the concierge service which makes payroll way easier on a small business without needing to hire someone in-house.

I have been very happy with Knit so far, and as a bookkeeper I am loving the automatic filing of source deductions and the reminders of payroll cycles. It is a huge part of my practice and it is slowly easing my worry of missing a deadline for a payroll client to be onboarding my clients to Knit.

Automation is excellent, and allows all crews to access their own documentation easily in a central hub. Easily implemented and easy for crew to log in and create their own accounts within the system.

It takes some time to understand which reports are best going to show clients (who are not in the financial industry) the data that they wish to see.

Good value for the money, and friendly support available when needed. Worth the switch for a small business tired of the larger, more expensive corporate solutions.

It has been simple and effective. Customer support is a game changer for experienced bookkeepers and people new to the process. The interface is intuitive and allows for quick training on the software.

I enjoy how easy Knit makes payroll. Reports are simple to use and easy to find. All the features available are fantastic.

Honestly, there isn't anything that I have found that I don't like.

It is easy to use, the reports make things easier for calculating what you need over any time frame, it tracks your vacation accrual, sick time and everything. You can create ROEs and submit them to CRA, it has a lot of capabilities, I used to use ADP and Ceridian and this is just as good.

Haven't found anything yet that I can comment on.

We converted from another provider to Knit and love it. It makes running multiple clients a breeze. Billing for each entity can be set as client or firm. Reoccurring payrolls can be set to run automatically. Multiple payroll schedules allow for different employee groups to be paid on different schedules. Most importantly, the self-service functions allow for employees to onboard themselves and manage their own details, freeing up staff for more important duties. Highly recommended.

There aren't that many integrations yet, for instance time tracking connections are weak. However, it's improving every month.

For our small and growing company KNIT was amazing value for money, and their capable, warm staff walked us through our onboarding and beyond when we felt unsure about setting up policies or handing certain tax scenarios and other best HR best practices!!

The patience and support during onboarding was incredible. It has a reasonable learning curve and the product continues to grow along with us. Employees self onboard so easily.

It’s a little tricky to to learn but the support team helped us navigate all challenges setting up policies based on employee type but we got it sorted, and we’re amazed by the kind help we received.
