Patch My PC and how it saves time

This is the second organization where I've used Patch My PC with our ConfigMgr environment. It's a tremendous time saver; the work that would be required in maintaining updates and application versions without them is probably nearly a full-time job.

PROS

The publishing service tied to our ConfigMgr/MECM environment has saved a *lot* of work on both update management and new application deployment. Being able to simply select an application in the configuration instead of having to roll our own packages saves a lot of time.

CONS

I do wish that it was possible to configure/manage the publishing service remotely; currently it's necessary to run the console UI from the server where it's installed.

I do not manage this application but part of the team and get alerts. The most I like about PatchMyPC is the quick detection and application of updates, along with reminders on unpatched applications.

Simple solution to patch entire enterprise

Friendly team, cheaper than you'd expect it to be and incredibly easy to use.

PROS

Using PatchMyPC to push updates into Intune is so easy to set up and manage, and it just keeps the whole fleet of machines patched.

CONS

It's very simple and light on for features - basically you deploy updates or you don't. However, this is all we wanted it for, so it's not a negative at all.

Cost - PMP is just far cheaper and it does everything we needed in this area.

PatchMyPC - A Critical Tool for your Endpoint Management Arsenal

Using a series of other reporting tools designed to determine the number of threats in our organization and then score us based on those threats, we've watched PMPC play a pivotal role in patching over 200 software titles to significantly bring down the number of overall threats and improve our grade simultaneously allowing us to consolidate software types, versions, etc. which has also allowed us another means to improve our threat scores.

PROS

PatchMyPC has been a game changer for us when it comes to two things, ensuring that our customer endpoints are getting the badly needed updates and seamless integration with our MECM environment with future support with Microsoft Intune. We spent two (1 hr) sessions with PMPC sales engineers and we were off and running. It was that easy. The resources available on the web and YouTube for customizing or tweaking aspects of PMPC or observing best practices are phenomenal. No other patching tool has been this comprehensive by order of magnitude.

CONS

Trying to stay modest here but I have yet to find anything within PMPC as a tool, service or the customer support that we "least" like. Support is very responsive, the [sensitive content hidden] cares very much about our customer experience, the product just works!

Reason for choosing Patch My PC

We were able to take advantage of a 60 day trial period with full technical support from PMPC before we even cut the check. Again the interface was simple and intuitive, the results were amazing in such a short period of time and the cost savings sealed the deal.

Reasons for switching to Patch My PC

Ivanti is a great product but it is neither intuitive nor does the interface act seamless. We always found ourselves having challenges with our task sequences and troubleshooting was always a challenge. There's very little out there on the web for self help forcing us to work with our contractor to resolve issues. The interface is clunky and in the end, the cost to us was greater than twice what we paid for PMPC.

Patch My PC has made a significant impact in our teams ability to manage the deployment of third party software updates and mitigate vulnerabilities in a timely manner. With a little SCCM knowledge regarding Automatic Deployment Rules, you can setup PatchMyPC to download updates from third party vendros and deploy those updates in a manner of hours. This fact coupled with the extensive knowledge and support you receive from [sensitive content hidden] and his team makes Patch My PC a must have for any company who wants to take software deployment and vulnerability management seriously

CONS

I'm loathe to say this about any product / company as they all tend to have something to dislike but that is not the case with Patch My PC.

Reliable Patch Management

From onboarding to after sales and support when working with the PatchMyPC team they have been with us helping during the integration and supporting us the 2 times we encountered issues and both times our issues were resolved without delay.

PROS

One of the biggest concerns an administrator has is not implementing a solution but maintaining it. PatchMyPC is the perfect answer to resolve this issue, we have set this up 1 year and a half ago and never looked back all the apps we deployed are automatically updated and maintained with the latest versions.We only access the system to add new apps for deployment.

CONS

The worst part about the software is the interface which feels like a Windows Server 2003 experience. Does not yet support patch management for MacOS, which should be resolved with the new product.

Reason for choosing Patch My PC

I found loads of reviews online pointing that although the interface is a bit primitive and a local server is required to run the software there was nothing more reliable then PatchMyPC therefore we decided to give it a try, when automating tasks and services the most important part is always reliability and the reviews were correct.

The application deployment and patch management was not reliable.

Very high value for the money

We have significantly reduced our vulnerability count. Our application packagers don't need to worry about packaging updates to the vast majority of our 3rd party applications each month.

PROS

Initial integration was very easy. PatchMyPC has high quality setup instructions and very detailed writeups for all of the features for their product. They even have great documentation and videos on how to use SCCM itself. The PMPC team clearly understands the product they are supporting.

CONS

I honestly can't think of anything that needs improvement with their product.

I had used PMPC at a previous job. Also if you read any forums that discuss which 3rd party vendor to go with, PMPC is always the clear winner. It also helps that the former Director of SCCM at Microsoft left his job to work at PMPC :)

Excellent solution to automatically ensure end-user-compute devices are always to the very latest secure versions of application.Fully automated solution thereby eradicating resource cost.Ease of deployment of additional software solutions not previously available to the end-users.

1) Zero-touch maintenance of application packaging, removing menial tasks from the Security team and removing time spent to comply with annual audits.2) Integration with Intune. 3) Reducing resource cost by automation

CONS

Patch My PC should use feedback and forum suggestions to package additional generally available software packages. There seems to be a long delay between an item being added to the ideas forum and any progress towards packaging.

Reason for choosing Patch My PC

Manage Engine provide several different stand-alone patch management solutions, however they were not integrated into Intune, and would require seperate management.Microsoft Autopatch is limited to Office365 applications and does not manage real-world third party software solutions such as Adobe Reader, Google Chrome, etc.

Reasons for switching to Patch My PC

With half of our staff now working from home, SCCM no longer supported our needs for remote EUC device management. Whilst Microsoft Intune manages the remote EUC estate, patch management is manual, and requires ongoing maintenance and update to the application package.Replacing the in-built Intune packaging with Patch My PC has fully automated this process.

A lifesaver for patching application CVE's in your environment

We have been able to free up hundreds of hours from our engineering team to work on higher priority projects by not having to download and manually package the applications and their patches that PMPC is able to do for us. I don't know how we were able to get the same volume of work done before PMPC.

PROS

Ease of use is by far the best feature about PMPC. PMPC's ability to crawl your SCCM/Intune database and automatically select applications in need of patching, and deploy them to patch CVE's makes passing annual audits a breeze.

CONS

There are a small number of applications in our environment that PMPC is not able to download media for; in these cases you have to manually download the application file from the vendor, and copy it into the PMPC media folder for packaging and deployment. While I understand this is largely due in part to how vendors like Oracle require authentication to download Java, a workaround would be for PMPC to house their own repository on Git or similar for their customers to retrieve these patches from after someone at PMPC has already manually downloaded them.

A Must Have for Patch Management

Our setup has been running rock solid for years at this point with minimal intervention. Any time we have had an issue, support has been very responsive. It makes this product a must have in my opinion.

PROS

It all comes down to time savings and ease of use. PMPC patches hundreds of products that are used throughout most companies and takes the burden of keeping them up to date away from us. The benefit of no longer having to worry about critical security updates for this many products on a monthly basis cannot be stated enough.

CONS

For our use case, there really has been no complaints.

"IT" simply works !!

We were looking for a third party patch management and once we saw the PatchMyPC demo we said, it is so easy. we were expecting that the experience using it was different from the demo (as always is) but not this time , was easy and working like in the demo.We love PatchMyPC. It is so reliable !!!

We use PathcMyPC mainly for Intune third party apps update and package creation. What makes PatchMyPC great is the simplicity of the setup, the reliability and the customization to fit what you need, after you setup your environment it is a kind of launch and forget.All our apps are always updated. Users and Security Team are happy !

CONS

It is not possible, for example, to create different profiles, for servers and for workstations since PatchMyPc here it is used by different Teams and wuld be good that each Team can see only their configuration profile.

Proactive Patch My PC

This is the second company I have brought Patch My PC to and it has been great and has saved countless hours of work.

PROS

The product is easy to use and allows you to setup and walk away.

CONS

Reporting is not something the product has much of. If we could have a report of those devices that did not get patched so we could focus on those that would be great.

We choose Patch My PC because we used Microsoft Intune and not SCCM and this tool could do both independently.

Been using Patch My PC for just over two years. Love it so far!

Love it!

PROS

Incredibly easy application patching and deployment. I can get new applications easily approved through our Security team just by knowing it will be auto patched.

CONS

I really wish there was more Autodesk software in Patch My PC. I am also hoping to get Intune Win32 dependencies in the custom deployments, but I know that is very difficult task.

PatchMy PC saves time and frustration

We have been able to automate our patches and third party package management, and it's saved a lot of time, effort, and overall frustration.

PROS

I love that I can set patches and applications once, and let the software take it from there. I don't have to think too hard or worry about checking things daily or weekly. A few spot checks here and there are the only management this software needs after implementation.

CONS

I think it would be nice to have the ability to get even more of our more specific engineering tools in the application list for both creation of packages and management of patches.
