Tuio has been a fantastic tool to move our school into online payments and invoice management.
Tuio allowed us to streamline our enrolment and tuition payment processes. We are moving away from handling post-dated cheques to online direct payments. This is both a better user experience for our parents as well as saving time and generating efficiencies in the administration. It really is a Win Win!
PROSWhat I like most about Tuio is that it is built from the ground up as a payment software, instead of an added-on after thought. The system is intuitive and simple to navigate while being powerful on the backend to support our needs. Our parents have had nothing but good things to say about how much they like the system.
CONSThere are a few features which would be nice to have such as the ability to modify the payment amounts once an invoice has been issued; however, Tuio has been very responsive to suggestions and is continually publishing new features/functionality.

Easy to use, snappy payment system
So far, we have only used it as a payment system, which is what it started out as. Next, we plan to add a registration piece, where parents and students will fill out their registration information directly into the system, something we don't currently have. After that, we would like to use it more for student information, and if it works out well, we would then ditch Zoho. (We really like Zoho as a database, but it wasn't made for schools and is not ideal in that regard.) The biggest thing Tuio would have to improve before we leave Zoho is its communication piece. In Zoho, we can make attractively designed mass messages to send to parents; there is no such capability yet in Tuio.We have been quite satisfied with Tuio's software and especially appreciative of their customer support. A couple of years ago, we did a total re-do of all of our software systems. We have been happiest with Tuio.
PROSWe love Tuio! It was fairly easy to learn, the interface is attractive and generally easy to use, it is has a very quick response time, and the customer support is stellar. I like that it's a small company, so we know the people who support us. They always try to help us when we don't understand something, or help us to make something work when our company's round peg doesn't fit well into their square hole (not unique to Tuio -- we have that problem with lots of software -- but they are eager to help us find workarounds). They are also open to suggestions, particularly since the product is fairly new and they are working on building it.Also, a huge plus is for us is that there was no setup fee, and instead of a monthly charge, Tuio charges by the transaction. It is affordable for our small school, and doing it by transaction means that we have to pay less when we have fewer transactions (and less money to pay a monthly fee).
CONS--We have students in many countries, but there are some issues with Tuio in that regard. Part of that is their payment processor, which doesn't work as well with payments in some countries, a problem we didn't have with our previous processor. Also, their parent/student contact information fields are rigidly set to (XXX) XXX-XXXX format, which does not fit our foreign customers. So, for schools that only have customers in the US or Canada (Tuio is from Canada), neither of these would be issues at all. --We are subscription based, but Tuio is designed around defined payment plans. This has created some headaches for us. They have said they are working on creating the ability to have subscription plans, so once that is done, this will no longer be a problem for us.--We do a substantial percentage of our payments through PayPal, but they don't have a way to incorporate PayPal, so we have to enter PayPal transactions as cash, which is not convenient.--While Tuio is mostly easy to use, some things here and there are not intuitive.
Reasons for switching to TUIO
First, we had been tracking payments in our CRM (Zoho) by uploading receipts as attached files, which was cumbersome and did not enable reporting. Second, we were planning to switch from Zoho to Maestro (student information system from Bocavox), where there is a quite extensive ledger system connected to the student database, so it would have been well integrated. However, we have disliked Maestro -- it is terribly slow, clunky, outdated, not pleasing to the eye, and they didn't handle our custom programming issues for payment successfully. So, we decided to try Tuio, even though we would lose the integration with the student information. After dealing with Maestro, Tuio has been such a delight -- modern interface, fast response, organization of data that is easy to get to...it's like coming out from dark cloudy skies into a bright sunny day. We had not set up much of the financial piece in Maestro yet, so mostly we went directly from Zoho to Tuio. We had a lot of resistance from current parents, who had to set up accounts in Tuio when we switched, but for new parents, it's all they've known and no issue. We are able to continue to offer direct support to our parents (something we wanted), but if the parents want, they can also contact Tuio and get assistance. Neither Zoho nor Maestro have a way for parents to contact them directly.

With regards to the communications piece, we are going to expand on what we have currently and add the ability to make templates and do more broadcasting. In the meantime, you could send mass messages on TUIO with a pdf attachment (that was attractively designed), but I understand where you are coming from. We are working on a global search, support for international phone numbers, and we still have the "payment clock" in our development pipeline. So glad that you are happy with TUIO and made that decision.

Great customer service
It has been okay. It was really difficult getting everything set up and then we ran into this problem, but [sensitive content hidden] has been wonderful throughout the process.
PROSI work with [sensitive content hidden] , and he is amazing at being responsive and helping clean up the mess left from the other person we had.
CONSI am frustrated that all my families got under-billed and are now having to pay this money back. It does not look good for the school.

Reasonable Tuition Payment Platform
The setup process was relatively easy and the customer support is great.
PROSI like the invoicing, payment options and discount options. I feel they have really thought of every option needed to process payment for Tuition and Registration Fees.
CONSI was very excited to offer our parents a place to pay their tuition and enroll, all in one place. When I created the enrollment forms, I was very disappointed with the lack to customize and making the forms look beautiful. It seems like they forgot that schools might need a different way to handle field trips. There is also little customization when it comes to automating messages after a form is completed.

Tuio was by far the most reasonable product. I was quoted over 10k for our school by other tuition/enrolment platforms.

Overall, the experience with TUIO has been exceptional.
PROSThe attendance feature is very simple to use. The added Covid-19 Screening feature was an absolute life saver this past 18 months. The payment program is very helpful to see what monies are coming in and who is behind with their payments. The TUIO staff handle any NSF problems, so there is no need for awkward conversations with your clients. The support staff are amazing and answer and solve all of our questions usually the same day. My staff are very happy with this product and we would recommend it to anyone looking to streamline their daycare or private school operations.
CONSI wish that there was a way to merge the spreadsheets with our Quickbooks accounting program.

Great value, very user friendly
Overall it has provided a fast, easy way to organize and charge for our enrolments in various programs.
PROSAs enrolment and payment processing software it's very user friendly and when needed, the customer service is fast and helpful. It is easy to manage and change invoices and refund full or partial invoices. The way registrations are set up is flexible with multiple options.
CONSAs an SIS it is not fully developed. There are issues with enrolments in different programs causing duplicate students. Each enrolment is linked only to the parent who pays the invoice.
Reasons for switching to TUIO
Blackbaud didn't provide payment processing built in (in Canada), was not as user friendly on the back end, and was far more expensive. We didn't use it to the fullest of its capacity and just needed a simpler solution.

My overall experience was positive. Even though I feel like I have been moving into the software a little blind, so far, we have not encountered any issues.
PROSSo far the setup and implementation process has been straightforward forward and the TUIO support team has been excellent in helping us launch our re-enrollment for the school.
CONSI would like to see more tutorials and videos about the software to give users an idea of its function as well as guides to help implementation. From a new user perspective, I often feel like I am trying out forms and programs blind and hoping they would work instead of being confident in the launch of a program. I wish there was a way to create a dummy trial of programs that will allow admins to run through all the steps just to experience what customer will see. If this option was available, I was not able to find it.

cost is a major factor and we did not fully use all of the functions because the user interface was lacking.

Please reach out to support@tuiopay.com as the dummy trial you mentioned is usually set up during the onboarding. If you missed that step we can give you the tutorial no problem. You'll have a test parent account that you can use to experience what they see. We also have a parent welcome video on YouTube. This first half of 2022, we are undertaking a project to revamp our support site with video content, so stay tuned!

Very Helpful
This experience has been great so far. I actually looked at another platform and Tuio actually works better for our needs. Actually, the only thing that was drawing me to the other program was the cost.
PROSThere is a learning curve, however, with the help of our manager is very helpful. This has really been helpful with my monthly payments.
CONSI am still learning and I will be able to answer more honestly after I have used this program for a few more months.

I had already become established with Tuio before being introduced to Brightwheel. The app seemed more user-friendly and the price per transaction was lower.

TUIO's Customer Service is Stellar and Their Software is Fairly Intuitive!
Our overall experience has been very positive. We enjoy the professional and friendly rapport we've established with TUIOs support staff.
PROSI love the fact that customer service is easy to access when needed. They have been quickly responsive and attentive to our needs. Plus, their tech team is always pleasant to work with. The features and functionality that might have been lacking when we 1st started using TUIO have been greatly improved. These new features have been immensely helpful to the staff who use the software AND for parents who pay their tuition/fees. I truly think they listen to their customers when it comes to adding new features.
CONSThe initial training was a slightly difficult as it was too fast paced for a 1st time learner and difficult to understand the French-Canadian accent of the trainer.

Blackbaud's pitch was just a cheesy sales pitch, with no consideration of how WE would use the product. Then upon further exploration we discovered what a customer service nightmare Blackbaud was for many of its customers as it appeared they did not treat the families of these schools very well. And this is not the culture we wanted for our parents. So we decided to wait and seek out a more competent company with friendly customer service. Then, TUIO Pay approached us and we decided to give them a listen. We LOVE that they are a smaller company who are accessible when we need their guidance.

Great customer support
The software is easy to use and intuitive. Customer support is very accessible and typically has answers to questions in a timely manner. I've often used the chat when needing support and almost always I get the answer that is needed and when it is not I usually get a follow up when issues are identified.
CONSIntegration was not difficult at all and someone was always available if I had any difficulty. Perhaps a more comprehensive account interface might be a little easier. For example: Parent as the account holder and children listed under each parent instead of each child has their own account and is associated with each parent. I can describe it more if you wish to contact me.

You can even use the 3 vertical dot menu to view the related students and enrollments. Enrollments on TUIO are always a student enrolled in a program. I love TUIO for our school.
I have saved so much time. I love that parents have access to their information at all times and reports are generated automatically.
PROSThis product makes collecting funds so easy. I no longer have to chase customers for payments. Payments are automatically drafted or charged.
CONSI wish more than one parent/guardian could have access and receive notifications.

Usage of Tuio payment portal
Overall with have had a good relationship with TUIO. Both [SENSITIVE CONTENT] are very quick to respond to our questions with helpful answers.
PROSThis payment portal allows our parents to securely pay the tuition in a timely manner. They receive the invoices directly from the TUIO portal.
CONSI wish our International parents were able to access the payment portal.

Thank you for the great review Helen! Your international parents can by all means access their TUIO account and they can also make a payment in the portal with their credit card. Only bank account payment is unavailable to them but if they wire funds from an international bank to you, you can mark their invoices as paid on TUIO so they can keep track otherwise.

The experience has been excellent and exceeded my expectations.
PROSThe customer service is outstanding. My bookkeeper and I are extremely helped by the ability to run any report that we would like to. For the most part, it is a very intuitive system to use. The transaction fees are reasonable. The ability to use both a registration and an enrollment is helpful to our audience.
CONSThe only thing I would change is adding the ability to create a group, say the "1st grade" group of 14 students, so I can select that group and send an invoice to all 14 at the same time, instead of having to enter their names individually.

TUIO helps save time
We are happy we have moved from a manual system to TUIO it saves us time
PROSTUIO helps save time and it has helped us streamline our payments management
CONSWe are unable to process credit cards if a parent is at the center and wants to make a payment. The system has not been updated to add our EIN number to the invoices which is necessary for tax credits for parents. Also when we enter student details TUIO only generates invoice with one parent name so if the other parent wants to get a FSA credit from work they are unable to do so and we have to give them a manual invoice. Group messaging is not possible yet

Absolutely loving our experience wiht TUIO. It was the best thing we did to switch over our billign and admissions. The team at TUIO is so kind and supportive.

Helpful and efficient
Getting TUIO set up seemed to take a bit longer than figured, but the set-up team was very helpful, efficient, and available in every step of the process. The same can be said about their customer service, they are also very good, helpful, and commendable. There is always a quick response to any question or issue. The main reason we signed up with TUIO was to help with invoicing and payment processing, and TUIO has helped a lot with this.
PROSTUIO has helped with invoicing and keeping track of payments, and payment processing. This was the main reason we signed up with TUIO, although we realize there are several other features that are available. The customer service is very commendable! We always receive quick responses to emails and chat.
CONSSetting up programs and registrations in order to create invoices seems a bit confusing. But with that, the customer service is always helpful! Having to do everything online is a small drawback. Some parents have also expressed their desire for a phone app, instead of having to go to a website.

CONSThe inability to link data, to see the student I’d - every time we need to pull new data to see the student ID. Hard to manage with pieces of information on different parts of the system - there should be a way to pull consolidated list with all system information

TUIO is great!
I love not having to chase parents for money as much.
CONSI wish you could duplicate an existing program. Our programs are often very similar in dates and wording, so it would be helpful to just have to go in, duplicate a program, and update the pricing as needed.

Thanks Gillian, creating new programs should not be time consuming but we are working on a feature to duplicate programs. The only thing you would have to check would be the payment plan dates and amounts of course. The app we have is SaaS so a trick we use is to duplicate the tab that way you can copy and paste the information from old program over to the new program.

Excellent Customer Service
Awesome!
PROSI was new to TUIO and had to start from scratch. [sensitive content hidden] was there from the beginning. He took the time, many meetings to show me how TUIO worked. He always answers emails almost immediately. He is always patient, kind and easy to work with. I never had such customer service in all my years in the administrative field.
CONSIt would be nice if you guys did payroll. It would be nice if TUIO had more options in the reports.
