Springbrook

We switched to Springbrook in 2015, I was not here when it occured. But started after and it was not hard to learn, again very user freindly

PROS

It is very user friendly. but when there is a problem, support is very helpful

CONS

I really haven't found anything not to like about it

Springbrook User Since 2015

The biggest benefit to using Springbrook has been the flow of information. Having Payroll, Utilitiy Billing, Accounts Payable and Cash Receipts all in the same software has made my job so much easier by eliminating the need for multiple journal entries each month. The support has greatly improved in recent months and issues that I call about are resolved fairly quickly.

PROS

The integration process from our 2 legacy systems to Springbrook was very smooth. This was in no small part due to the Representatives who came onsite to train us. While alot different than the previous AP and UB systems I was using, Springbrook was fairly easy to learn. The nice thing is that all the processes are very similar making it easier to go from AP to UP. The other really nice feature that I did not have before was that when a utility bill is generated or an invoice is paid, the transactions go straight to the General Ledger. In our legacy systems, a journal entry had to be done to enter water billing, payroll and invoices to the correct GL Accounts. This makes year end balancing so much easier.

CONS

Having to import and export the meter readings each month is very time consuming. It would be so much easier if there was a simpler way to input monthly readings. We use several different water rates based on the amount of water consumed. Once the usage reaches the allowed amount, the rate changes. Its very cumbersome to have to go into the actual rate and change the consumption and then have to go back after the billing is done and adjust the consumption. This has caused billing issues when the user forgets to go back in and re-adjusted the consumption. When doing billing, uncommitted payments do not show on the bill and there is no option to include them. This results in customers calling with concerns that their payments were not received. We bill in Acre Feet and the billing shows the gallons consumption on meters that read in cubic feet or gallons. (For Acre Foot meters, the use shows correctly on the billing.) Customers don't always know how to convert the use to AF; it would be beneficial to have the consumption on the billing reflect how the charge is calculated. We have to invoice customers outside of Springbrook. Being able to create and invoice within the software would eliminate the process of having to do an additional journal entry to put it in the General Ledger.

The biggest reason was the one mentioned previously. Having everything in one system eliminates the need for multiple journal entries and makes the year end process much more streamlined

The complete package all in one software.

Readily accessible information is the key benefit for me. Annual Audit process is much smoother.

PROS

Springbrook is a module based software. This allows you to pick and choose which modules your organization needs. You also have the ability to add modules later if needed. Everything is all in one place. Converting to Springbrook from a hodge-podge of custom, in-house, and can programs has been a welcome change.

CONS

There are growing pains with any software conversion. Would I want to go through it again....no! But I am thankful everyday we persevered. It is so nice not to have to dig through boxes of paper to find the back up or support for transactions. They are scanned and attached as you do the work. We stopped using one module; we felt like we were having to make it fit our process and it was double work.

Excellent Choice for Mid-Size Local Governments

Overall experience is outstanding. This is an essential tool for our Finance Department and all of our Department Heads

PROS

Honestly, the thing I like the most is the responsiveness of customer support. We don't have too many issues with the software, but we always get a prompt response when we run into a problem.

CONS

Our number one request is that it be accessible on a mobile phone. We use electronic workflows daily and some of the approvers are out of the office frequently, thus holding up the approval process. If they could approve on their phone, this would solve the problem.

Meets our needs

I started using Springbrook about 2 little more than two years ago when I started this position. Overall, the experience has been positive. There are a few things I would change to make it a tad more user friendly, however to be honest; it does for the most part what we need.

PROS

Springbrook provides the accounting, utility billing and payroll functionality we need for our municipality. In my opinion, it is easy to use. The customer support is very helpful.

CONS

It could be modernized a tad, especially in the requisition to PO process.

Springbroook Software

We are happy we selected Springbrook to replace the software we were previously using.

PROS

With the help of Springbrook's friendly and knowledgeable implementation team, the implementation process went very smoothly. The training our staff received adequately prepared them to use the software. The software is fairly intuitive.

CONS

The bank reconciliation process doesn't work as well as we'd like, so we perform the bank reconciliation outside of Springbrook.

Reasons for switching to Springbrook Suite

The developers of the custom software we were using were retiring/closing the business, and they did the research to find the best product for their customers -- they recommended Springbrook.

UB Billing Made Easy!

Easy to use and customer support is always very helpful.

PROS

We are loving the new option for pay by phone that intergrates with our billing software. We have been using the webpayments and electronic billing for some time but just recently added the pay by phone option. We have many customers taking advantage of this and giving us time in the office for more detailed approach in watching for unusual water usage.

CONS

Some of the software updates didn't allow for our meter project data to be dumped in. We had to hand key each new meter.

Springbrook Suite

Overall, the product is decent and serves it's purpose. You can tell that some of the coding was done by non-finance people and certain features are unavailable that used to be available in prior versions.

PROS

It is nice to have one source for all of our finance needs.

CONS

The customizable reports are difficult to use/set up. The individual modules get expensive for a small municipality to afford.

Financial Software for Municipalities

Great customer support, great online help guides, weekly updates

Ease of use, help guides, fast and efficient

CONS

I need to learn more about it- but there just isn't a lot of spare time. Sometimes there are things that happen (errors) and the help staff ar uncertain how it happens... It gets fixed, but sometimes it's a mystery....

Springbrook for good

PROS

I love the search capabilities and it’s very user friendly.

CONS

Having to hit refresh every time you are going to search for something new. It’s seems odd.
