SmartCare is a cloud-based child care platform built to connect child care center owners, teachers and parents in real time through a cloud-based interface. Founded in 2014 and based in Las Vegas, SmartCare targets child care centers and K-12 schools in the US.

SmartCare helps parents track their children's activities while at daycare. Parents can connect through social media platforms to share photos and videos.

SmartCare offers a billing and payment feature that includes instant account setup and approval, a fixed credit card processing fee, split payments and mobile invoices. Parents can create digital libraries of their children, upload special childhood moments and share their content with other parents on social media platforms.

SmartCare stores all records in a centralized database and allows users to look up child or family information at the swipe of a finger. The solution can send child arrival and pickup alerts to parents' mobile devices to ensure the safety of the child.

Other features includes child and family enrollment, accounting and phone support.

Nothing. Other than the concept of how it is supposed to work to help me as a parent feel better and more knowledgeable about my child's day at daycare.

I have had more problems with this than I can probably list. I have installed/uninstalled the app on my phone several times due to it not working properly. The app tells me my son's teacher has not posted to the timeline, meanwhile I just got and alert 5 minutes before that something new was posted. The pictures sometimes take forever to load on the timeline, and then it just times out and and says something like "aww snap, there was a problem..." Currently, after last uninstall and install of the app, I can no longer get into my account, so therefore do not know what is going on day to day (this was in March 2017). When I try to login it tells me my password is incorrect, even though I know it is not. When I request the password using my mobile phone I get the "aww snap, there was a problem..." message. When I request the password through my desk top it tells me an e-mail was sent; however, nothing ever comes to my inbox or spam folder. Frequently, the times of drop off and pick up are WAY wrong...i.e. drop off at 12 a.m.? I really want to embrace your product and this new system at daycare, but there are quite a few glitches that need fixed. These problems are unacceptable and this system is not helping me know anything more about my child's day. In fact it is harmful, since the daycare is relying on me getting information through this and it is not working, I am not getting any information. When I contacted customer support in March 2017 they blamed it on my Android phone. Then, on an app update. Then, told me to use my husband's phone (you know just assuming). And, then just told me to use a desktop, which I have been doing ever since about 3 weeks ago. However, despite using a desktop now months later, I now no longer can get into my account. Customer support e-mail sent me a link to update my password and the link doesn't even work. Ridiculous!

It has eliminated some of the paperwork by making many things electronic saving some time for teachers.

Pros

I like that it is used for employees as well as for the clients. It does seem very cost effective as well.

Cons

I do not like the fact that as the director I can not look at a childs timeline under my log in and see what the teachers have been letting the parents know. It makes it hard for me to keep track of what the parents are hearing from the staff. Customer service is not the best either.

I am the regional director of our child care company. Three of our sites are currently using this program and we are thrilled by it. Our parents love it and so do the teachers. It gives our families a little bit of a closer look into the day their child is having. I would definitely recommend this program to any child care center looking to offer all the things that SmartCare offers. :)

As a director there are lots of things to keep up with on a daily basis. With Smartcare I feel like I am able to keep up with my day so much easier than before. Gone are the days of running room to room to check ratios or to see who is even in attendance. No more clipboards with fifty sheets of paper and post-it notes all over it with schedules. I find I have more time to actually focus on the children now. When it comes time for weekly payments, it is a breeze! I no longer have to remind parents about payments because Smartcare does it for me. The only area would would love to see advancements is in the updates. While we love the updates, they sometimes cause some issues with how you have to update all systems for them to work properly.

We have a few concerns. We have found it difficult to use reliably for attendance and tracking sign in sign out. Sometimes for no reason our entire center jumps into the wrong class and on one occasion the entire center was signed out when a teacher logged off. This has cause a lot of panic from our parents. We are still using our back up sign-in system and will continue until we feel we can trust sign in with SmartCare. We are using our tuition pay and have been mostly please with it thus far. Transitioning over was difficult as our old system was difficult to keep up with. We had to issue a few payments back to parents who turned on their auto pay before we were caught up on our end but that was to no fault of SmartCare. Our Child Care tuition and technology buff works on multiple occasions that she finds the customer support to respond quickly but not really solve the problem. The questions go back and forth for some time until the problem actually gets solved. We have also been concerned about confidential information being in the wrong hands. We had a teacher whose daughter is a parent of a child in our care and somehow their information got crossed and that parent was receiving every notification that the teacher wrote. Moving forward I have told my staff, if all SmartCare does for us is fix our tuition it will be worth it financially but I really would like to use it at its full capacity.

SmartCare offers some great solutions for childcare providers as well as parents when it comes to improving communication both with families and among staff. My children attend a childcare center and I work at a center so I have gotten to experience this software from both sides. There are many great features including the ability for directors to check center wide attendance at a glance, track enrollment and possible openings, the ability to create and share individual student profiles with all teachers who may work with that student, and of course the ability for teachers to provide up to date information regarding each child's day, complete with pictures. Where this program falls short for our center and for me as a a parent as well is the reliability. There have been many bugs, updates gone wrong, and the program does not consistently work. While the ability to immediately report a problem by shaking the device is a nice feature, many reports go without a response and can take days and weeks to fix issues which is an issue when you come to rely on it. SmartCare appears to be constantly working to improve issues and I am hopeful that this can be done successfully as the overall idea and concept are great.

We are a small, but growing, school that needed a more efficient way to track our students and tuition. I used to manually write paper receipts for every tuition check I received every month, which was so time consuming! Smartcare has alleviated that headache, allowing parents to pay online with a card or bank account, something we weren't able to offer before. Sometimes the center app and director app are slow and often needing to update but overall, it has saved us a lot of time! Customer Support was usually able to fix any issues we had but it would take a couple of days.

When our center first switched to SmartCare it was a big change to us as we were in such routine with our paper daily sheets, attendance, and payment options but the SmartCare team was very helpful and made our transition much easier. We had a few bumps in the road along the way (as all technology does) that were quickly resolved. The app is very user friendly for both parents and staff. Our families love the convenience of this app and being able to get real time updates on their child's day (espcially our Infant parents). We look forward to the continued development and updates of SmartCare and we are so glad that we had made the switch!

Since the beginning Smart Care has provided a stable platform for us to manage our day school. Its platform is easy to use and provides a stunning interface for not only the day school director, but the teachers and parents. In addition to ease of use, the system is up to date using the latest technology in software as well as hardware. Cutting edge technology tells our clients that we are up to date and keeping up with all aspects of the day care business so that their child is receiving top of the line service.

Cons

Initially there was a lot of updates and fixes, but over time these patches and bug fixes seem to be lessening

This system was so easy to train on! The staff has been friendly and easy to communicate with. Our transition to the SmartCare user-interface has been wonderful! Even before training I was able to (easily) find what I was looking for in the program. It's so nice to have so many features in one place! The fact that we can communicate with parents, handle financials, maintain student records, and manage daycare ratios will make our lives in the office so much easier! I am so excited to see how this software performs in the upcoming months!

Pros

Customer Service is AWESOME (so far). I love that I can maintain student records, communicate with parents, manage daycare ratios, and deal with financial payments all in one place!

Cons

The reports seem to be the only con, but I haven't worked with those much at the moment so this is a "barely" con.

I use Smart Care at work as a director in a preschool. The parents enjoyed the app because they get real time notifications of their child's day. I like the app because it is easy Payment Processing and a quick and convenient way to look up a parent's information in an emergency. I do wish all aspects of the app were available on Android and on the computer, not just Apple. Otherwise, it has been a great asset to our Center!

As we tell our parents, when the kiosk and other parts of the system works it's great. However that is not always the case, also when the app updates it often requires the app to be deleted and it is challenging to get all the devises back up in a quick manner when you have already begun your day.

I am VERY Disappointed in this software. I am the accountant for a company that is using SC. Although the center likes the program for child care it is one of the worst programs for accounting. There is NO way to match what was charged from the parent to what was actually deposited into our bank account. They split the deposits up and bunch others up so it is impossible to track. They do not tell you how much, other than just giving a percentage, of how much they are keeping. Therefore due to rounding issues, it's always just a guess (and that is NOT the way I keep books)! When we ask for verification of what has actually been deposited they send us a report that doesn't match what our bank account shows as a deposit. Customer service (or our member CSR) is clueless when it comes to the accounting pieces.
Their so called accounting reports also stink. Although you can click on download into Excel, you have to be a master at Excel to know how to convert the numbers into true numbers. You can NOT use the reports to add or Sum multiple cells unless you change the formatting.
I am still waiting to see if their accounting department can find the $1000 that didn't make it into our bank account.

Update (12/16): After writing my review Smartcare contacted me to help straighten out some of my issues. They sent me an Excel file of all deposits, I wish we could run this file from SC without having to contact them, but I was told that at this time the only way to get an Excel report with all information is to contact them so they can create the file. Anyway, I matched up the 6 months of deposits to their spreadsheet and it looks like the funds were deposited correctly. I now have a work around for this, when SC sends my director an email about the deposits she then forwards it to me (they can not send it to two different people). I type all the information into a spreadsheet and match it with my bank deposits. It still takes a lot of my time but this is the only way I can find out who paid their payments and to ensure we receive what is due to us.

Maybe it's my untrusting nature but I need to make sure we are receiving what is owed to us and the extra hours I put into it gives me peace of mind. It's my understanding that they are working on this issue but I have not been given a timeline as to when they expect to have a fix for all the manual work in regards to accounting.

Can't match amounts collected from parents to amounts deposited into our bank.
Report section should have "favorites" list or most recent reports so you don't have to scroll through everyone of them to find the one that you use all the time.

RUN! RUN! RUN!
We have had this program for only 3 months and we have spent well over 200 hours trying to figure out the accounting side of it!

My wife and I were excited to automate our center's record keeping. We did get face to face "training" but there have been nothing but problems since day one. Features advertised on their website are missing, the software is very buggy, and we actually end up spending less time with the children because of having to deal with bugs and back up our records on paper as well. Response from our rep is timely and friendly, but we get no response from the company when we submit bug reports. I would highly recommend this software, but in a year or two when they've had time to get it working properly.

Our school of 125 students has been working with SmartCare for a year now. This software will save our staff and parents a great deal of time and trouble. Going paperless will save us money and help the environment. And it's more fun! The possibilities for communication with parents is exciting. Every step of the way, the customer service and attention has been A+. They are patient, attentive, understanding, willing to listen, and very professional. My child care center/preschool, Precious Lambs Early Learning Center, participated in SmartCare¿s beta testing. We are so impressed with the way that the software really encompasses everything needed. It is an all-in-one solution!

We had looked into Procare software but SmartCare looks like it will be a much better solution for us because of the low cost (can actually be paid by the parents, and therefore free to the center!) and the ease of use. Smart Care even provided us with ipads for each classroom and director at no cost! I appreciate that the software is on each classroom ipad, allowing all of the teachers and parents to update and receive updates in real time!

Another perk of the SmartCare experience for my child care center, Precious Lambs Early Learning Center is the customer service. My rep is always available and happy to answer questions that we come up with. She also came out and visited our center numerous times in person to make sure that we felt comfortable with the new software and even to get feedback from parents.

The reason we are most excited to use SmartCare in our center is because we want to get families set up with automatic debits from their checking accounts. We looked into using other options but SmartCare offers this service at no charge. We can¿t wait to get all of our families set up and paying electronically!

I am excited to see where SmartCare is one year from now! Over the past year, I have watched SmartCare grow from an idea into a software solution for my child care center. We are so excited to use SmartCare and watch it continue to grow and help us on a daily basis.
