MINDBODY is a cloud-based club management and appointment scheduling solution designed for the needs of small to midsize businesses. The product is primarily used by gyms, fitness and personal training centers, salons, spas and massage centers, wellness centers, dance schools and yoga studios.

MINDBODY offers features such as scheduling with wait list management, appointment booking through Facebook, automated scheduling of email and texts and online bookings. Memberships can be managed through MINDBODY as well.

MINDBODY also features a toolset for marketing management. With MINDBODY, notifications and alerts can be set up for customers, targeted marketing campaigns can be launched and marketing reports can be generated and assessed.

MINDBODY also offers staff management features, which include check-in and check-out management, role-based permissions, payroll management and calendar integration.

MINDBODY offers custom API access that enables third-party developers to integrate their platforms with the solution. The product offers a marketplace for applications that can be integrated with MINDBODY, such as Spafinder Wellness 365, Xero, Perkville, RelateLOOP, Zcubator and WaiverKing.

but since it’s hard to change companies transfer all clients information etc. I stick with it.

offering no options taking features I once had in the past and upping rates!!!
this company doesn’t value loyal long-term clients at all! I also use their merchant processing services which is a fortune!!!

Mindbody is an awesome software app! I use it all the time to schedule my classes for yoga, Barre, etc. I love that shows you who the teacher will be for a specific class, it saves your favorite places (most scheduled), and making payments is so simple! This app shows you everything in your surrounding area that has openings/classes. Much easier than calling around! You also receive emails reminding you of your schedules class/appointment.

Cons

I received some free passes as a gift for classes, and it limits you to what classes you can choose. I'd prefer to be able to choose from any of the classes. Other than that, I do not have any complaints about this software!

Cons

Once in awhile the site will crash and you have to try and use the app instead for payments, which can be a tougher to do.

THEY HOLD YOUR CLIENT DATA HOSTAGE - Additionally, when we leave we will have to pay them for our own clients information to have it transferred to the new company . . . OUR OWN CLIENTS!!!

Pros

The software is pretty easy to figure out however the bad too far outweighs the good. When you crash as often as MindBody does it really doesn't matter whether your software is easy to use or not.

Cons

THEY CONSTANTLY DISRUPT BUSINESS - They choose to launch software updates and perform maintenance during peak business hours which constantly disrupts business. One outage on 4/5/18 lasted THE WHOLE DAY!!! Then the following day their credit card processors went down almost an entire day and this was a busy Friday for us. They majorly altered their software system and implemented in on Saturday 3/3/18 which severely disrupted business. All of a sudden our front desk staff could not book clients services, close out the register, or tip service providers out. They stated that this was now the Essentials Package. In the MBO Essentials package staff cannot book or close out a register, only a manager or owner can do this. Managers cannot tip out staff, only an owner can do this. What kind of small business runs with managers on hand to book and close out the drawer every day and owners who also come in every day to tips the staff out for what they earned?
THEY STOLE THOUSANDS FROM OUT CLIENTS ACCOUNTS - They discontinued our clients rewards and took all the money that they had earned from their accounts. Some of our clients had been earning these funds for a decades. We had thousands affected!
THEIR CREDIT CARD PROCESSING WONT ACCEPT ALL CREDIT CARDS - They switched us over so that they could function as our credit card processor this last year and assured us that nothing would change, however because of the way they process transactions prepaid credit cards like visa, mastercard, etc can no longer be used as a form of payment.

I am now with Acuity Scheduling...ultra cheap and convenient for posting links to scheduling, and can link a merchant account to it for card payments.

Pros

The ladies I worked with getting connect to MindBody...Amazing! These ladies presented me with a great opportunity to connect to a huge network of people in my area that typically engage in massage services. The set up is easy, and you will have someone that makes sure you are ready to start using your scheduling system.

Cons

Tech Issues: I had nothing but issues when it came down to my clients being able to join the network and start booking appointments. What I was the most shocked/upset with is there not being a protocol in place when it came to these issues, and the reps not being sensitive the matter at hand. I couldn't have been the first person with guest experiencing an issue exactly, or similar to mine. One time it took a client 6-7 times to successfully book an appointment!?!? I am available for walk-ins, so I could only imagine how many others just passed to the next massage therapist with a working scheduling system! Talk about upset and frustrated! While everyone is pleasant to speak with, kinda helpless when it came to the tech issue I had.

Phone Calls: You will get phone calls from companies that partner with MindBody. Constant Contact is one. A email marketing scam! There is a button under the Manager Tools for them! If you are interested in a service like that, speak to SignPost. Value is much higher than Constant Contact. My point is you will have someone integrated with MindBody looking to squeeze a few bucks out of you weekly.

Online Payments: Again, a hidden MindBody business entity. Can only use the merchant company they have. You cannot even post a deal without have a merchant account with who they provide. Deals are ways to get discovered on the platform...the hook. In short, your are forced to have the merchant MindBody provides. More squeeze.

There is a 31 day cancellation policy in place, so I lost a few coins this month to a system they can't even figure out of how to diagnose and repair. I didn't argue with them to get my money back because I've wasted enough energy talk to the reps at MindBody.

Good luck business owners needing this type of service. I wish you the best!

We've had many issues with MINDBODY that haven't been resolved over the 2 year period we have used them, it doesn't seem like they want to give customers what they want.

They are pretty modern design and some of their reports are easy to use, client screen is nice as well

Cons

Many issues with MINDBODY that haven't been resolved even after we've reported numerous times, such as not tracking unpaid visits, there is no report for this. We have punch card visits but after all visits are used the client is still active, and MINDBODY has not resolved this for us. Among other things, their customer service isn't all that great and the fact that their prices are going up after a system outage is unreasonable..

Pros

Quick and easy, painless sale and setup. Seems easy to use and their techs are able to explain the product resolve simple issues fairly quickly.

Cons

Unexplained and unexpected increases in the price for absolutely no reason or advance notification. All of a sudden, certain features became an additional cost to what was originally a small monthly fee that also increased by over 50% in a short period of time. Trying to cancel this software and service was a nightmare.

Pros

Has a lot of good reports that can be downloaded in an excel file. Interfaces with Constant Contact.

Cons

The eliminated the Plan that I was on, renamed it, and then raised the price 50%. If I want to stay where I am at, it costs the same as I was paying and provides basic services.

I only use about 6-7 reports but now I have to pay more for them.

Their CC processing fees are higher than most other companies.

If you are just starting your business, look into price increases. You'll feel like you are forced to go along with the price increases because of the headache of changing to something else.

Pros

Easy to use. Our customers like it and I like how easy it is to set up classes (for the most part). Customers are able to purchase services using the app or in our gym.

Cons

When I started using MINDBODY in May of 2016, my simple plan charged per month. One year later they raised my monthly fee but didn't change my services at all. Today I learned that my plan would no longer be offered. I'm being forced into a bigger plan which I do NOT need and next month my monthly fee is increased hugely. I am a very small business and, now that I'm relying on their software, they are taking advantage. It will be a huge headache, but I will be looking into other gym management software.

I’m sure they software would have been great however problem after problem with the support team on setting up days to train to management over charging us and refusing to work with us regarding that’s it was a nightmare and a huge waste of moneys.

Problem after problem with support trying to get the software going, we were very excited to change to this system, however, being billed for a system that we couldn’t use was a little more than silly. We assigned to a tech that couldn’t work with the hours we need to have staff training, we were not offered another tech with hours that worked for our salon team.
Ever month I tried to get this going excluding canceling clients to accommodate ... so silly?!! Yes.
In the end, I canceled and the company overcharged me a month.
One of the sales members reached out about a year later and offered to help to get me back on the system, I was very greatful and happy as I had heard great things about the software. In the end, I ended up speaking with a very condescending manager about what not only what they were not willing to offer any support for the 7 months of paying and no software but he charged my card twice saying I owed money and didn’t follow threw with providing me access to the site when promised. Very stressful to deal with people who take your money and you can’t get ahold of. I would recommend using another provider if you care about your money

I think these guys have failed to move with the times and keep up with the market. The new price rise encouraged me to look around and I found many options with more features, easier user and customer interfaces and much better customer service. Our business is an appointment and class based health business and mindbody used to be the only software that could cater to both. There are lots of options now with better features for less money.
Customer service has been extremely dissapointing as well. Long holds, no replays to emails no accountability.

Pros

The app is useful though wry limited. Automatic payments and class passes make life easier but now lots of other softwares are offering this too

Clunky with lots of clicking to get anywhere
The backend is not intuitive at all, after 3 years I still need to google questions to work out how to do things.

The user experience is relatively clean. It is easy to book a class and then add to schedule. It is convenient to sync your schedule with your calendar.

Cons

Sometimes, when searching for activities near, it doesn't show everything for some reason. Also, I have heard from my friend (who runs a studio) that there is an inability to edit a series once she sets it. this is CRAZY. She changed the location of a class, but now she would have to redo all the scheduling work instead of being able to just go into that series, edit that location, and have that edit apply to the entire series. This is a serious issue for the admin user.

I am able to book a workout from anywhere that I can get cell phone reception.

Pros

This program made it very easy for me to search for a specific gym and find out what classes where being offered and when. It also allowed me to book and pay for my classes right from my phone, which I loved.

Cons

I had difficulties finding specific classes that I was looking for that a specific trainer was offering and due to that, I ended up book and paying for the wrong class. Thankfully the trainer went in and corrected this for me. The program can get a little convoluted.

Pros

It is comprehensive, user friendly, and the scheduling tools it has are amazing. I have used it in the fitness industry and also when I managed a medical spa. You have the ability to customize it to your needs depending on what industry you are in and what you are going to use it for. I would highly recommend this software.

Cons

There are not many cons to this software that I can think of. Maybe the one thing is that there can be a bit of a learning curve for new users. On the other hand the support is great.

While individual wellness providers require different account logins, you can manage all bookings across providers in the app. The App is excellent for provider and offerings discovery.

Cons

The servers don't seem to be decentralized. When once company's account is down, everything is down. Logins should be unified across the platform. Notifications and review prompts still occur even after cancelling an appointment. More provider info could be contained in the central app.

I like the short help videos for set up. MBO is really easy to use once you set everything up. It's really customizable to fit your needs and business. There's not a single report they didn't think about included in this software.

Cons

The price is way too high for an individual. Being the one and only team member I didn't use even a quarter of the reports or other extras that come with this scheduling software. This isn't the software for you if you want to keep your overhead down. I frequently had clients complain about how confusing/difficult it was to book online.

This is a great booking, tracking and payments system. Overall it will have all the functionality you will want. Client tracking, payment processing, booking and availability and so much more. customizable to your specific needs.

Cons

The drawback is you will be stuck with the high rates and fees of the payment processing portion of this software, usually 30 percent higher than the industry. It also has a very slow and tedious import export process for client data, which most owners don't have the time to mess with.

When I owned my yoga studios, they created the fires, instead of putting them out.

Pros

I wish I had something good to say about Mindbody, but the cost, lack of visual appeal, functionality for both the studio owners and customers, and horrible customer support leaves me speechless.

Cons

Mindbody needs to focus on their software and not their Bold Conferences. They have so many clients leaving them because they have dropped the ball, deflated it, and are looking at it on the ground.

Cons

There's really nothing I don't like about it. Very simple to use and I appreciate when salons use this software.

Pros

Very easy to access and use. You can set your favorite gyms or studios and easily
find the schedules and teachers. One click and you can book the class and add it to your
calendar.

Cons

At times the software is down. It is not always updated with your package on the first of the month.

I like that you can select a date for an appointment. It makes it easier especially if you don't have time to call. I use my phone all the time for making appointments so it's a good addition

Cons

Nothing really came up that made it an issue to be honest. I found it straightforward to use. Maybe if there were more places that used the app that would be great.

Pros

How user friendly it can be, the app for the most part to see classes. I really like the format to look at classes and look up different people.

Cons

The app could have more features to it. Especially the clock in and out button. I also wish the pictures of my clients could be bigger.

The process for scheduling appointments is virtually seamless. I don't have to hassle with awkward phone calls to schedule massages.

Cons

I wish that I could reschedule appointments using the software. Also I wish more businesses used this softare!
