While it may seem simple, this allows me to approach the same project with whatever mindset that best fits me in a given day. I don't have to force myself to adjust to the same structure if I'm not in the headspace to deal with its format. Instead, I can look through the other options to adjust the program to me. #### Cons The only issues I've had have been with the limited functions within text editing, although the features present are extremely powerful when you need them. #### Reasons for choosing Nuclino Simplicity, ease of use, Rapid Customization #### Reasons for switching to Nuclino As a student, I don't exactly have time to learn a software in depth unless it directly contributes to what I'm building in a given project. I really like this app. Do I wish it were easier to publish to the public? Sure. But you can export to Obsidian for that. Would I recommend Obsidian instead of Nuclino? Personally no. Obsidian seems more obtuse for non-programmers; like it was made by programmers for other developers... Nuclino seems more human native. It requires less poetics of code mentality and familiarity. Basically I love the product but - as with all 'Nirvana' or 'one product to organize all' products like OneNote, Evernote and Obsidian etc.. it really comes down to how you want to approach the mountain (technical climber or day hiker). Nuclino is somewhere between Github and Evernote and most people will find that to be a comfort zone that strikes a nice balance. Relatively intuitive interface with strengths in the area of easy organization and multiple view types ready at hand. The graph view is especially useful. Great performance and good for people taking notes on their phone but also using desk/laptops. #### Cons As a maturing product, there will be hard decisions to be made on the spectrum from ease of use to depth of functionality. Like simple is great (see one function apps) but robust feature sets (think Blender or Adobe suite) increases the learning curve. I would love the ability to see the graph in a manner that included links between pages (mereologies) vs. currently just the parent/child relationship (taxonomies). I'd also love a back button! But as I think of these things I suspect the developers have too and I'm sure they are working on ways to tier or nest controls to continue to strike the magical balance between robustness and simplicity. Nuclino is a great app and any cons are probably largely subjective preferences. #### Reasons for choosing Nuclino simplicity. ease of use. New users can get spooled up extraordinarily quickly and start contributing immediately. It's also extremely clean and able to accommodate varying levels of hierarchy very well. It allows for live collaborative editing of the pages, which is a huge convenience for teams that have multiple people working on the same project. Coming from documentation tools that required checking out/checking in of the pages, this is a huge benefit. #### Cons I think the one feature that I'd love to see added is the ability to access control individual "clusters" and "items" (which are Nuclino's terms for folders and pages). A workspace itself can be access controlled and locked, but all items within a public workspace are publicly visible. It serves as a wiki for the project which helps anyone joining the project at later stages understand what was done during the design process, and why certain decisions were made. The software's very generous free tier lets you explore all the main features. You can even have unlimited teams within the free tier, within which you can have unlimited workspaces. You can think of workspaces as 'projects'. You can then create clusters (think: folders) and items (think: pages). There are 4 views within a workspace: All, Recent, Board and Graph, which is what makes the application great. The Board view is very similar to a Kanban board that even lets you drag and drop 'items' between 'clusters'. Currently I'm using only the free plan, but definitely, the paid subscription also worth the cost. It has a web app, android app, windows app, and even Linux app! Can't complain. No incentive was offered This system, first and foremost, is EXTREMELY easy to use. The GUI is self explanatory, with a clean and modern front end. It's allowed us to being to collate everything our business requires for a knowledge base as we look to undergo business expansion within the next 2 years. It's probably as simple as it gets when it comes to using it. Much like a Wikia page you'd see on when you're browsing Google, everything has it's own defined collection, within the collection is your subsections of content. With no difficulty, it's practically the case of pressing a + and it's added (of course you need to write your own content, but Nuclino has some fantastic example articles as to how you could create your own). Great for our business is that Nuclino supports images. So I can give a visual representation as to some of the guides I have put together (and it means we can throw a funny gif or two in). There will be some of you who have used Nuclino more in depth than I have and no doubt ever will, but for us, we needed something that would be budget friendly for when we do purchase our subscription. It's fantastic value for money as you can see from the pricing.
