### Most mentioned pros

- It’s a powerful all-in-one construction management platform that improves organization, communication, and project tracking. While there’s a learning curve and cost considerations, it greatly enhances efficiency and workflow once implemented.
- It’s a comprehensive platform that keeps construction projects organized, from scheduling and budgeting to communication with clients and teams. While it takes a little time to get fully comfortable with all the features, once you do, it significantly improves efficiency and project visibility.
- Our company used us for several months and got great feedback from most of our clients about its reporting features and it made us more organized in how we managed projects.

### Most mentioned cons

- For contractors, builders, or construction businesses considering Buildertrend: be extremely careful. Once your information is inside their system, retrieving it later is a massive challenge. If you’re planning to switch platforms in the future or just want flexibility, keep in mind that your data will not be easily portable.

### Fairly Robust Software - Mixed Opinions on Customer Support

- Overall rating: 4/5
- Reviewer: Salina T.
- Verified reviewer: Yes
- Industry: Construction
- Company size: 11-50 employees
- Product usage: Used daily for less than 12 months

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 2/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Before registering with Buildertrend, my entire team was operating solely on paper and Excel, which caused huge bottlenecks in our project coordination, scheduling and communication. By introducing Buildertrend, our labour force was able to enter all of their daily logs, expenses, and project updates all from their phone, which resulted in fewer lost documents, more daily awareness from all teams, and more than 30 hours saved in manual data entry and filing time for the administrative team. I liked that our clients were able to view their own profiles and see the progress of their projects. It was convenient for the client, operations, project managers and labourers to see the schedule updates in real-time on their respective access. The customer support was also quiet engaged with our onboarding which made it less daunting for the large system change.

#### Cons

This is quiet an expensive software for a small company to manage, and I found their sales team to be a bit pushy regarding add-ons even though we frequently reminded them that the add-ons were not applicable to our business, either due to structure or size, and out of price range. There was also a huge learning curve for all teams, but they prioritized the operations team and barely spent time answering questions we had for the labourer's view. This was frustrating because we had unique use-cases and knew the adoption of the technology would be challenging for our labour force that was used to paper, so it was difficult to integrate the software into our team when our valid questions were unanswered and some labour felt unsupported.

#### Reasons for choosing Buildertrend

At the time, Buildertrend offered better features and resources for our labourers than Jobber, which was our top priority as a general contractor with a labour force. Also, Jobber was more focused on sub-trades than general labourers so we didn't fit into all of their form templates.

#### Reasons for switching to Buildertrend

This was a data entry intensive option and we found this was a very time consuming way to manage our bidding, project management, and accounting processes, so we switched to Buildertrend after reviewing alternatives,

I've been using Buildertrend now for several years and I really like it. I can't imaging going back to the way we used to operate. This software keeps us organized and helps our customers stay in the loop during their project. It's a wonderful software and great support staff. Highly recommend!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

One of the things I like most about Buildertrend is the support they give. If I ever have a question or are unsure of something, I can easily use the chat feature or call the support line and they help walk me through it and figure out a solution to my problem. They're fantastic!

#### Cons

One thing I don't like is that once a customer has activated their account, we as the builder can no longer update the customer contact info. Sometimes we're dealing with older people or ones who aren't super computer literate and it takes me a long time or multiple emails to describe how to add a phone number or email address to their account vs me just being able to go in and adjust in in 10 seconds. I wish they would change that!

### All-in-One Construction Project Management Platform

My overall experience with Buildertrend has been positive. It’s a powerful all-in-one construction management platform that improves organization, communication, and project tracking. While there’s a learning curve and cost considerations, it greatly enhances efficiency and workflow once implemented.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

What I liked most about Buildertrend is how it centralizes project management. It makes scheduling, communication, budgeting, and document sharing easy in one platform, helping construction projects stay organized and on track.

#### Cons

One downside of Buildertrend is that it can feel complex for new users, with a learning curve during setup. It can also be costly for smaller teams, especially when adding advanced features.

#### Reasons for choosing Buildertrend

We chose Buildertrend because it was more user-friendly, more affordable, and better suited for residential projects. Compared to Procore, CoConstruct, and JobTread, it offered easier adoption, strong all-in-one tools, and better day-to-day workflow for our team.

#### Pros

It has a lot of great features, and support is excellent.

#### Cons

The product user experience is absolutely awful. It's a hard product to learn how to use, and there is like 10x more clicking that there needs to be. Very frustrating to use on either desktop or mobile.

#### Reasons for choosing Buildertrend

None had the features we needed and Procore was overkill.

#### Reasons for switching to Buildertrend

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 2/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 2/5

#### Pros

It may be a good program for a builder in USA

#### Cons

It does not seem to fit the electrical field very well. Also, they assured us that their platform could handle Canadian tax. If you are from Canada, I suggest you ask some hard questions before you onboard. After training for several months, we finally realized that we were not going to be happy with BT. The one and biggest complaint was that they had a very clunky way of handling Canadian tax. They did not seem to be interested in correcting it.

#### Reasons for choosing Buildertrend

Best value and better Project management

#### Reasons for switching to Buildertrend

Looking for a better platform. More power on one site

#### Pros

I liked the idea of having a client portal that i could setup for clients to use.

#### Cons

The bulky nature of the system, it looks initially very easy to cross contaminate information through to areas you don't want information stored. They also don't give you any time to learn the system before you have to pay the subscription, i would have been more likely to sign up longer if they gave me time to learn it properly.

#### Reasons for switching to Buildertrend

We needed a more advanced system to input the required data and client portal capability

Buildertrend markets themselves as a partner for construction growth, but my experience as a small business owner has been the opposite. Despite paying for six months of service while having zero active projects, they refused to exercise the 'sole discretion' suspension clause (Section 4.6) in their own contract to provide temporary relief during a cash flow crisis. I have paid thousands for a service I never used operationally, and their legal department’s only response was to enforce the remainder of the annual debt. They prioritize rigid payment installments over the actual success or survival of the companies they serve.

Initially, we thought it was ok. Every day we worked, however, we found more and more workarounds. they far outweighed the positives early on. Truth is, the salesperson had MORE than enough information to know that we wouldn't be a good fit, but they lied to us. As a service-based business, this is a joke of a program. It's made for companies with FEW customers and FEWER jobs. If you're trying to get by with not activating your customers - nothing works correctly. the system ABSOLUTELY does not "integrate" with Quickbooks. It only accepts SOME information - and what it allows leaves you having to duplicate entry more than 1/2 of your jobs data. Even moving from the "leads" module to a customer after they sign, only gives you the BARE minimum information on the customer. Most of the data doesn't even transfer. When you try to do more - like we hired a professional consultant for $600 to help us - we just found out more lies and more problems until we finally gave up.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 2/5
- Value for money: 2/5
- Functionality: 1/5

#### Pros

The customer integration is nice. The system was stable even out in the field.

#### Cons

The customer service STUNK. The sales staff knew FULL WELL what we needed and why, and they lied to us to get the sale. 6 months in we found out the REAL answer of the Quickbooks integration - basically it sucks. We were looking to eliminate places of duplicate entry - not create more. Document management is horrible. basically a DOS system where you can't even scroll in between photos. Lack of ability to have a customer, be a trades partner, be a subcontractor - which happens all the time.

#### Reasons for switching to Buildertrend

Features that we were promised but didn't exist.

#### Vendor response

Wendy, Thanks for sharing your experience with us. This isn't the typical feedback we receive + we always strive to provide top notch service to our customers. I want you to know that we've heard your feedback + will reiterate to our sales team the importance of ensuring a good fit. We're specifically designed for custom home builders and remodelers, but many other businesses, like yours, can find success with CoConstruct. In a review of your interactions with our team, we did do everything we could to accommodate your needs. All tickets submitted were addressed + when your 1st coach wasn't a fit, we assigned a new one + extra sessions to help with your success. We're are surprised to hear about your QuickBooks concerns, since our integration is widely considered the best on the market. If there are any other specifics that you'd like to share, we'd be happy to dive in more. We hope you are able to find another application that is better designed for your business. BW, Marketing

Overall Buildertrend has transformed our company for the better and brought us successfully into the future. We were able to go from all paperwork to virtually all digital. Files drawers full of paperwork sorted by each job are a thing of the past. Now all the information anyone needs is all packaged nicely, per job, at our fingertips!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I love the all encompassing information housing Buildertrend provides for each of our jobs. All of our team members can access this info with ease. No more information hiding in private emails or documents hiding on company drives...all of which cause major problems when team members are on holiday or out sick.

#### Cons

There are a few quirks and drawbacks I have found on Buildertrend. The most common qiurk seems to be the inconsistency of the same functions across different sections in Buildertrend. For instance uploading a file is done one way in one section of Buildertrend and a different way in another. Same with deleting items. In one section things just delete, in other sections you have to verify deletion and then select done...two extra steps. In the Leads section I can send a document out to be signed whether or not a customer has a log in to Buildertrend, but in the Change Order section (once the lead is a job) I can no longer send documents to an external emails for approval. I have to use Docusign to get signatures. This is not very streamlined. Seems like they had different teams writing code for different sections and they never communicated to each other on how to keep functions consistent throughout the software. The worst drawback is that there is essentially no function for schedulING. The scheduLES within each job are great, but when it comes time for a foreman to see what team members and subs are scheduled on what jobs and what ones are available to schedule, there is no function :(

#### Reasons for choosing Buildertrend

We chose Buildertrend over other CRM and data management software products because of it's focus on the construction field and all of the features and integrations it offered to really provide that one stop shop for our business to run off of.

Co Construct has improved operations efficiency in several of the companies I have worked with. Co Construct is able to take a project from the first contact all the way through completion and provides an accountability for the client and the contractor which has been a big support gap in the past decade. Co Construct improves the builder and sub contractor experience as well with features that provide a daily log of comments and photos from the subs to the contractor in one place that is stored for record. Co Construct has also made keeping track of financials much easier and creating and facilitating change orders from the field. All of the features of Co Construct are streamlined in the mobile app for easy to train functionality with employees, subs and vendors. Overall I just cant express enough how Co Construct continues to improve the Remodel and Custom home sector of Residential construction.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Co Construct is so much more than a project management software system. Co Construct integrates your entire business operation into one easy to use cloud base platform. The support team dedicated to Co Construct users is a feature that no other company in this field can match. Co Construct continues to innovate their product daily through their client based interactions and feedback. Co Construct has gone above and beyond through their development of a "Community" discussion board within the existing software that enables all of their clients to interact with each other and the Co Construct ambassadors. Co Construct offers Co Camp training as well as Co Con (annual conference based on builders engaging with other builders) this is a unique approach to not only improve clients knowledge of the software but will assist them with overall productivity in their respective businesses. The Software itself is very easy to learn and very adaptable to any size business model. Co Construct has a library of videos to assist with the onboarding process. Co Construct has made a huge investment in securing their clients information as well.

#### Cons

It would be very difficult for me to identify anything that I do not like about this software. Co Construct has done a phenomenal job of identifying and improving any areas that were lacking in the offered software package and continues to develop more efficient improvements. I look forward to the future as they continue to grow the Leads feature as well as integration into the mainstream calendar support.

#### Reasons for choosing Buildertrend

Co Construct is a very specific software model geared specifically to Residential Remodel and Custom Home builders. Co Construct has stayed true to this specific construction niche. Many of the other products are geared more toward service sectors. Co Construct has a pricing model that is more in line with being able to service the smaller companies or companies like Cullum Homes a NAHB award winning company. Co Construct is just so much more than a software company and really provides award winning support to improve their clients business systems or in many cases create those systems side by side with their clients. Co Construct's mission and vision continues to focus on its existing clients as well as future clients.

#### Pros

it has great visual organization and options.

#### Cons

the payables and receivables don't link. it is very difficult to make sure you have billed everything you have done and even harder to report this to your client. Also, they claim to have product integration with QuickBooks but it does not work. They couldn't figure it out nor could a QuickBooks pro consultant we hired. We paid quit a bit of money and never could get QuickBooks to communicate.

#### Reasons for choosing Buildertrend

I didn't I dropped them after 3 years because they didn't do updates they said they were but still increased their price by 80%. Also, they claim to have product integration with QuickBooks but it does not work. They couldn't figure it out nor could a QuickBooks pro consultant we hired.

#### Reasons for switching to Buildertrend

Price, Ease of use, Customer service, and reporting, Houzz also does marketing for you for less cost.

### Good construction management tool with much potential

- Functionality: 2.5/5

#### Pros

I like how Co-construct can help with scheduling and keeping a project more organized. The new scheduling tool is a big step in the right direction. It is fluid, user-friendly, and very functional. If all of Co-construct was patterned after the look and feel of the way the schedule is built, that would almost do it for me. There would, or course, be a few little things here and there I'm sure, but the majority of it would be there. I it also nice how honest and open you guys are to constant improvement. This is the best way to be the best!

#### Cons

It is too much like a social networking program and not enough like a professional tool.

#### Vendor response

Hi Colby, Thanks for the input. It sounds like you’ve already shared your feedback with our support team, which is good. We’ve got all of your suggestions logged. However, I did want to specifically respond to a few of your points, since they are items that we actually addressed in some recent updates or are functions designed to provide features that are helpful to users who may be choosing to use the system a little differently from you – which is fine, since no two custom builders operate the same way: #1 – We have been adding some more full-screen options, such as with the new Gantt, Task, and Baseline views, which will grow as large as your browser window and screen make available. #3 – The Activity Manager feature does allow the viewing of a particular partner’s schedule across one or more projects to see scheduling conflicts. You can also have a multi-partner, color-coded view for seeing scheduling conflicts without having to run a report for each partner. #4 and #5 – The term “files” vs. “documents” is a bit of a matter of personal preference. However, within the last week, we’ve upgraded the photo upload tool to a cleaner interface and with better drag-and-drop features for getting multiple pictures into the system quickly. #6 and #7 – Not all of our builders find a need for the separate questions and messages sections, but the questions feature does provide a great way to avoid the issue of a client asking a question, forgetting to respond to it, and then having the client lose faith in your ability to track open issues. With the clear indication of whether a question has been answered, it makes it easier for a builder to not overlook an outstanding item. If a client posts a question, and you decide that you want it elsewhere, you are able to click a link to move it to another spot in the project. #9 – Some builders like to put everything into their schedules. However, having a separate schedule vs. to-do feature allows you manage your larger, planned activities on the schedule without cluttering it up with the small everyday (but still important) items that pop-up. You can quickly add those kinds of items to the to-do list from the website or mobile app. Our reports allow you to see, modify, and close out items from both sections in a single view. So, while it’s obviously your choice which sections you want to use, many of our users find it very helpful to keep the schedule and to-dos separate. #12 – I agree. This is a popular request that I would like for us to address. #14 – The Contacts page does provide a single place to access all of the people involved in your operation, whether they are clients, team members, prospects, or trades. We do have some other screens for managing the specifics if one of those contacts is, for example, a trade partner who needs access to just certain projects. But, you are able to get to all of your contacts from a single section, and then link to any other settings you may need from there. Thanks for the input, and we look forward to continuing to enhance the system based on our users’ feedback! Donny Wyatt President, Co-construct

It’s been easy so far but a lot more to understand. A large expansive software that allows me to communicate effectively with trades. I wish the software was more user friendly for trades and their schedules

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

I like how user friendly it is for me. I am 26 years old. I understand how to operate a computer. For a lot of my colleagues who are older, they have a harder time. I like how the site has been very easy and quick to get down. User functionality is a plus.

#### Cons

I don’t like how the software allows me as an admin more ability to see details of jobs in certain views and makes my trade partners click into each job to see names of jobs, and job description etc.

#### Vendor response

Addisen - thank you for your review and feedback. I'll be sure to pass this along to our Product team!
