Overall great customer support. Our team manufactures ships and errects projects from Alaska to California and everyone can use this product at ease.

Pros

The use and ease of intigration of many platforms into one. Customer service is great a phone call text or email and they respond right away

Cons

Printing of calendar can be better.they could add a calendar option to run workers time off and national holidays so you don't have to add another job.

Ease-of-use

Value for Money

If you're a HUGE company this program makes sense, for a small business though...the price is just too high.

Pros

Truly an all-in-one construction management software. Almost everything you could possibly need you will find.

Cons

No way to sync phone contacts to the program.
No way to track mileage.
WAY overpriced.

Strictly on the project management side things are good (daily reports, calendar, to dos, bidding).

There are additional comments on the forum and with Derek (from a several months ago). The pain points we were trying to resolve were not resolved with BT. One pain point was dealing with project management. Sharing plans, having daily reports, seeing who is on the job, the calendar, having budgets in an easy, central place, etc. Those were addressed. We were also wanting a program to manage POs /contracts from PO to final payment -dealing with lien releases (all of them, progress, unconditional, final). Allowing for subs to progress bill and deal with change orders and retention. This was not better, in fact we are double entering data and having to extract to DocuSign to get what we need completed.

Pros

Project management. daily reports, calendar, to dos, bidding, having a budget, documents, mobile app, templates

Cons

all things financial - PO's, Lien Releases, integration with QB (need to have PO's and budget integrate), subs submitting an invoice (shouldn't be all or nothing), progress billing. Securing areas of use. Not getting a sub report (with custom columns so we can print a list for customers). Not having custom fields in the PO. not being able to remove former employees from the list (make inactive, like subs). reminders on the bell are always wrong or not relevant. Not able to have a change order directly associated with a PO so we can see the full value of the contract with changes. Managing retention. No PO approval process (internally route). Unable to get signatures on additional lien waivers. Time it takes to push from BT to QB - during billing there is a long delay. Constant circle of death. Unable to pull up vendor from a PO or add a new vendor from PO. With Bills and POs we should be able to select on that bill/po if we want it added to the budget / new expected. On the budget we should be able to select which columns are viewed.

Great content but poor interface and user experience

Value for Money

This software has the best support experience I've ever had. I had an account rep on speed dial and it came with unlimited phone support.

Pros

The amount of information this software holds on any given job is incredible! The gant chart for scheduling jobs and the ability to view multiple jobs at once or break things out by job is awesome. Overall I really loved the idea of the software and wanted to love it in day to day use.
Nothing else I found gives nearly the amount of detailed information and features in that price bracket.
Also getting in touch with support was better than 98% of SAS softwares.

Cons

The interface is extremely outdated and clunky. The layers of pop up boxes make it slow and difficult to navigate through on desktop. The app was slow and difficult to load even in areas of great cell coverage. Overall it didn't work for our company because the cumbersome user experience made it so that it didn't save us any time. It could have been amazing but it just wasn't.

Pros

The dashboard is probably my favourite feature of this software. It organizes everything you have input into one page which gives you easy access to everything.

Cons

Cost is probably one of the downfalls to this software. Although everything is live, I would like to see price reduced a little. Especially when I'm off season and not using the program.

Company is very responsive to questions, suggestions and the help is outstanding. This is a great product. My customers love it.

Pros

For one thing, they are constantly added new things. The payroll featured added that sums up my labor cost relative to each employee and hours on the job is spectacular and a huge time saver. The more time I spend on Builder Trend the easier it is to run my business

Cons

I don't like that this survey will not let me proceed to the next section unless I can find something that I like the least.

Pros

Since starting with Builder Trend 3 years ago they have grown their CRM out to include 95% of what we needed as a construction company in the restoration business and they are continually implementing new ideas to make our business better.

Cons

The only thing I can think of right now that I would like Builder Trend to integrate workflow and automated email communication.

I think that this software could be amazing but is executed very poorly.

Pros

-A product that was specifically designed for the building industry

Pros

Pros

I liked the intuitive design and smooth function. It feels up to date with a nice modern style. The customer service rep was very eager to help us get everything running smoothly. I also really liked the calendar and scheduling function.

Cons

In the end, BuilderTrend didn't work well for my business. It wouldn't allow me to easily set up a database of products with set prices and select those into my purchase orders. Instead it operates best for a builder who bids out each job.

The support from the coaches has been incredible and the videos are easy to understand.

Pros

Simple to learn and great support. The schedule features, CRM features and homeowner portal are the most attractive features.

The estimating has been a little tough to pick up but that may be due to my lack of playing with it enough...

They should review their pricing structure to encourage new clients

Pros

Very comprehensive and has a great client portal. They have brought necessary organizing and planning components under one umbrella.

Cons

Expensive for the small contractor as it bills by the month for one or more projects per year. Once the project is completed, you are still billed for it until the end of the year. Fine if you have one or two large projects, but for a renovation specialist it is not cost effective.

Pros

Love the selections area and the ability to communicate with our customers this way. We are the only builder in Pagosa Springs using this. I think this gives us a real edge in the market place as we have a large 2nd home market here, a lot of our buyers do not currently live here.
Great Customer support

Cons

Would like to be able to show when something in Selections has been ordered by us and expected del date. This would be very helpful for our subs and customers, (not to mention us)
The Survey area still needs to be able to be customized by us.
I wish changes in the software happened a little faster.

Almost all of the features we need in one system.

Pros

This program has a ton of features built in, from tracking leads to converting to jobs, to invoicing. Makes it convenient to not have to jump around to different programs at the various stages of a job.

Cons

It can get glitchy at times and run slow. This doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's annoying. There is a little bit of a learning curve, but because it has so many features, it's well worth it.

After getting the full-fledged sale on how fantastic this is, I signed up for the minimum monthly plan. On the first "online demo", the internet went down for the coach, so he asked me to reschedule for the next day. He missed the next day's appointment. I called to reschedule with someone else, and when they didn't call, I was told they were no longer with the company. On the third attempt, I ended up finding out that it was not nearly as customizable as I was lead to believe, but I was told that they were going to work with their IT Dept to see what could be done.

Coincidentally, my coach reached out to me a few weeks, later, literally one day outside the 30-day guarantee window, so I was charged for an additional month. When I tried to cancel, I was told it was too late, so I was charged for two full months, and got nothing from it but several wasted phone calls and confirmation that the software will not work for me.

I am a technology solutions consultant to the company that selected Buildertrend. We reviewed several other products, but Buildertrend won out due to completeness of solution for a home builder, ease of use, an available mobile app, and pricing model.

Pros

Overall ease of use and completeness of solution, pricing model, mobile application.

I also liked the ability to include subcontractors and home owners in the project communications - where desired - this can be controlled.

Training materials are excellent (videos, live trainings), the Buildertrend support staff were knowledgeable of the building industry, the home building process and very helpful.

Cons

Integration with major accounting/finance/ERP applications is limited.

Advice to Others

While overall ease of use is excellent, it is a comprehensive application and requires dedicated training effort for a successful implementation.

We use builder trend in our company for numerous reasons. Communication, document sharing, contact management, scheduling, product selections, change order management. This software has greatly improved our existing systems substantially.

Pros

The customer support has been excellent to work with. If ever I have a problem they are always there to offer guidance. If ever I have an idea to extend builder trend already phenomenal system they actually listen. Numerous advancements have been made that have always exceeded my expectations.

Cons

I am still hoping one day builder trend may offer a way to redevelop a system that allows it to be fully customizable. I know that's asking a lot but I think this would make it a lot more attractive.
