Softdent Useag for 30 years
I began using Softdent in the early 90's until I retired in 2021. We enjoyed it's ease of use, updates and excellent support over the years.
PROSEase of training and use, constant updating, ease of installation and product support
CONSProgress notes - needed oral dictating feature ( the version I was using) I disliked when local Softdent vendors cease to exist and the seminars they gave at the local level for product updates and support stopped
Reasons for switching to SoftDent a Sensei product
Extremely difficult to use, was mainly an accounting system, very little clinical aspects

You get used to it
Softdent is the only dental software I have used so I cannot compare it to others
PROSI like how the software is linked to the software that our office uses to communicate with our patient base.
CONSI dislike how the information does not populate from the patient information page to the guarantor section when there is only one patient on the account.

Our knowledge base is a 24-hour on-demand platform of pre-recorded sessions ranging from clinical to administration for first-time users and best practices for our more seasoned users. Security, detailed charting, team talk.
CONSOutdated and slow, always waiting for a screen to load. Cannot have more than one window open and have to close out of screens to view other information.

Hi Jennifer, I am sorry you're experiencing difficulties with SoftDent. We have made some upgrades and we have just released version 19.1.1. I would recommend upgrading your software as we find that it usually solves some of the slowdowns. Another option is to upgrade to Sensei Cloud as well. Soft dent at a general dental office
Since I use it with a team, it is very useful. I still need to learn how to use many features. I look forward to getting E Verification for benefits and eligibility, and the sales person, [SENSITIVE CONTENT], was great! He helped me see the benefits of using this upgrade. He was very helpful
PROSIt is very practical, but I still need to learn many things about it.
CONSI know there are workbooks to learn how to use all the features, but I prefer a video to show each application. Please make one. Thanks.

Better Options Available
I am not a fan of Softdent at all. Reports are difficult to find if they are available at all, patient accounts for both demographics and accounting are only good if there is only one person on the account. If it is a "family " account" things are nearly impossible to keep track of payment and billing wise, outstanding insurance claims fall short in reports, month end reports fall short ..all in all it' s not a system I am fond of at all.
PROSI think the two things that I actually like about Softdent is regarding scheduling from the Tickler and from the treatment plan, extremely easy to use.
CONSSoftdent is a very outdated system that could use a complete overhaul if it wants to stay relative and competetive in today's market.

SoftDent is User Friendly and easy to use
I started with SoftDent over 20 years ago and have used other software but came back to Softdent because I like how easy it is to use.
PROSIt is user friendly and very easy to learn to use.
CONSWhen entering patient payments it does not separate the payment to the exact treatment like some other software packages do.
Reason for choosing SoftDent a Sensei product
The office has considered other software but I wanted to keep Softdent as it is easy for everyone to use.

It has been a good experience to work with another software however is seems very outdated.
