Lightspeed offers a cloud-based e-commerce solution that allows users to manage in-store and online inventory, view all customer information and analyze multi-channel sales data from one system. Lightspeed offers a fully integrated retail solution that allows customers to manage in-store and online inventory, have a single view of customers and analyze multi-channel sales data from one system.

Lightspeed offers functionality for customizable checkout, upsell and cross-sell features, related product recommendations, promotions and custom pricing for single items or groups of items, customer product reviews and direct selling over Facebook. Users can create and print shipping labels directly from the system.  

Lightspeed includes built-in SEO tools to manage rank for search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo, and it also offers a built-in blogging system. Users can create web stores using fully customizable, SEO optimized themes. The system allows users to upload logos and change the colors, fonts and layout of the page to match branding.

Lightspeed is available for purchase on a monthly subscription basis.

    Lightspeed eCommerce Works Perfect for a Small Business

    Lightspeed eCommerce works great for our wine shop. We have several hundred products for purchase but it is pretty easy to navigate between items because we took the time to use the categorization options when setting up our store.

    Pros

    I like the way that they assembled the UI and also the hierarchy of information. When you're in the eCommerce platform it clear that there are a ton of ways to look at and organize your data, but the UI makes it less overwhelming to someone who isn't used to working with the back end of web.

    Cons

    A couple small things bother me - like the fact that the photos I upload aren't always kept in the order that I upload them in. Other things like the way it is integrated only one way with Lightspeed Retail POS, if I chance something to do with money on the eCom side it doesn't feed back to my merchant processor. I think this is because they've recently been integrated and hope that eventually financial information will flow both ways.

    Lightspeed is the right fit for our small business

    We're very pleased with Lightspeed for our small furniture business. It works well with both sides of our businesdls: retail side as well as an on-site manufacturing side. The reporting feature allows us to see what items/vendors are most profitable And, our image with the customer is much more professional than before when we wrote paper receipts for each transaction. Our staff of 4 (ages 21-67) has adapted well to the software.

    Pros

    The reporting features are some of my most useful tools in the software.
    Tech support is really good, when needed
    Our non-tech savvy staff is able to use it effectively

    Cons

    The label feature only works with 2" labels or smaller
    Grouping items such as furniture sets is a multi-step process that can be time-consuming at checkout.

    Great software with phenomenal support. We love and look forward to long-term partnership with LightSpeed.

    Pros

    This software can do 9 of 10 things in every every of my business. Great inventory management (10 out of 10), great sales( 9 out of 10), and great standard reporting(8 out of 10).

    Cons

    Inventory will not go to negative on hand, gift cards do not work online, and no bin location for each product.

    Lightspeed is an affordable, easy to use POS. It is a great POS if you are using it to track all your inventory. If not, it has too many limitations to make it worthwhile.

    Pros

    Lightspeed is easy to setup and use. Its cloud version is great for managing multiple retail locations, allowing for transfers between locations. You can download a full lists of your products on Lightspeed. Easy to use and intuitive.

    Cons

    The biggest drawback we ran into with using Lightspeed is that it does not allow you to upload your inventory quantities. We use an external system to track inventory and it's frustrating not to be able to use a csv to upload inventory. The only we to update inventory is through doing a full physical inventory count, which we only do twice a year.

    It very easy to use in an everyday basis as well as to configure everything in it, and it also has great reports!

    The interface is incredibly easy to utilize. Loading products and walking through a sales process is simple.

    Cons

    The lack of integration between lightspeed and other inventory tools can be frustrating at times, but there are workarounds. Customer service is not the best - response times are lacking.

    I had a reliable system that was easy to set up, had great customer support when I had questions and isn't priced out of the market. Very happy with the switch I made from a direct competitor and I'm not looking back!

    Pros

    The ease of use and set up time is amazing. Very rarely is the system down or has any problems, which is imperative to my business. Competitors always seemed to be having problems, which lead to my switch.

    Cons

    The price is a little expensive, but it's true that you get what you pay for. I'm happy to pay a little more for the type of service that I get from the team.

    The speed of working is very good, Lay Out. I like to work with the V2 and before the V1 ill hated it almost quit with website and move to another company. But the V2 is Excellent to work with. Thumbs Up and keep on the good work. Erwin

    Glitches aside, it's essential for managing all aspects of our retail/ecommerce business.

    Pros

    It's specifically tailored to the needs of a retail operation, and can, through a third party, be integrated with an ecommerce operation.

    Cons

    It can be glitchy and slow. The product browser, for example, can't load up products as fast as the user can scroll through them, leading to problems. It's also not easily customizing beyond a certain point.

    ADDED - the support staff integrated payment processing and their Genius terminal.

    No offline availability. If internet is down, you can't do anything.

    Simple, effective, easy-to-use software

    We have been using eCom for about a month now and it has been a great experience. From the customer service to the software itself, it is pretty straightforward and just works. Whenever a question or issue arises, I don't hesitate to call customer support as I know that there will be an answer or solution. The nice thing I like about calling them is that if there is a few people ahead of me in the queue, I have the option of leaving my number and having one of them call me so I don't have to waste time waiting on the phone. When it comes to using eCom, it isn't difficult to learn at all and is pretty painless to use. I like that I can customize everything about the website's theme, right down to the code, to suit my needs. I also like that I can add notes to customers' orders as this lets me keep track of issues in a more secure place rather than pen and paper. Overall, I would definitely recommend eCom to anyone who wants a simple, painless, easy-to-use program to manage their website.

    Cons

    The only con I've ran into is that if there is a problem with a designed theme, a ticket has to be placed on it and we have to wait to hear back from the developer of that particular theme. Luckily, I have knowledge of web development and was able to fix it on my own as they allow for that.

    Lightspeed eCom - An evolved and expensive scam

    eCom has a good array of features and potential features. Too bad none of them work properly. The interface looks good despite not being very functional.

    Cons

    As a software engineer, I've had to install, customize, create and use dozens of e-commerce platforms and within those, Lightspeed is by far the worst e-commerce platform I have ever used. It is full of major bugs and lacks features that even the most basic and cheap e-commerce solutions have. Reported (major) bugs take more than 6 months to even get looked at, and that is if they ever decide to fix them. There is no community forums, support chat was disabled because there were too many requests and the only place to suggest new features is never looked at or updated.

    Every month, they keep promising updates and fix that never happen, or even worse, they tell you that bugs are fixed when they are not.

    Lightspeed eCom is a very expensive scam, I recommend you stay away from it.
