Easy to Use HRIS
I love Bamboo! Very happy with it, and excited to see what the future holds.
PROSThe product is very easy to use. The customer support is incredible. The system is aesthetically pleasing. Bamboo listens to feedback and is always updating and releasing new features based on customer feedback.
CONSSome features are not the most robust. Time tracking and reporting specifically. Bamboo does not have built-in scheduling. The employee notes feature could be more like applicant notes (replies, attachments, email notifications).

Excellent tool to optimize human resources operations
It's a convenient way to keep track of vacation and sick time, as well as communicate with coworkers about upcoming absences. It's an improvement over our old leave-tracking system that's far more convenient.
PROSBambooHR has made it simple for our global team to communicate and coordinate on business holidays and paid time off, as well as keep tabs on their respective leave balances. The ability to view the work anniversaries of all employees is a fantastic perk.
CONSThis makes it difficult for us to celebrate the holidays with our international colleagues. They also had a web UI that wasn't particularly user-friendly, although it has gotten much better over time.

Simplifying HR procedures like adding files for electronic signature and tracking vacation time. I really like how easy it is to set up the onboarding process for a new hire.

The Recommended Go-to Platform for Businesses
Through this platform, I am able to know what is happening to my business. If I am making progress or experiencing shortfalls. Also, my business has seen some level of seriousness since this system was implemented. Overall, I will say it is a great platform
PROSBambooHR has some great integrations. For example, the platform allows me to know when my co-workers are out of the office or even celebrating a birthday.By far, Bamboo is a great platform.
CONSOne time, i had some challenges and I needed customer support, but the response was a bit late. I don't really know if it's still like that. But I still got the help I needed.

Advanced all-in-one human resource management software
We are able to meet all of our safety and training documentation needs with the assistance of BambooHR. It's also easy to review candidates with other managers and work together on the hiring process thanks to the onboarding and hiring features.
PROSBambooHR provides us with superior resources for handling personnel records, payroll, and perks. We appreciate the simplicity of sharing information with one another within the team. BambooHR has excellent support services.
CONSFrom time to time, we run upon a section of BambooHR that is very difficult to modify. Thankfully, any problems may be resolved by contacting their helpful customer care team.

Great for startups
I like the platform very much. The customer service is somewhat difficult to reach and they take about 2 business days to respond or sometimes more. So that part is not great,
PROSIt is a very comprehensive product if you are a startup and have a lean or no HR team. It makes onboarding and employee management quite easy. Also, the full calendar is a nice feature. As leave is booked, you can see a monthly calendar at everyone who is out of the office, work anniversaries, etc. Very useful!
CONSSince it can't handle global/international payroll - it is very manual to update the payroll the system and bamboo one at a time. It is very manual and eventually will not be too scalable. Not sure how we are going to deal with it eventually, but for now it suits us!

Too simple for it's own good
We currently use BambooHR as an HRIS, and previously used it as an ATS. The employee database software is user friendly, but offers no customization. We inevitably switched our ATS to a different software because of these same concerns.
PROSIt's very user friendly. You don't need to be very tech savvy to use the various features available in BambooHR.
CONSThere is no customization available. If a feature is not available, there is no customization available to help tailor this program to your companies needs.

Great for growing companies
Great experience. Our HR manager picked it up and ran with it. And I've recommended it to several of our clients. Great solution.
PROSThe visibility into my team, reporting of things like headcount over time, and the flexibility of the info on reports that either I or my HR manager can build. Reviews, and the reminders to ensure people get those done.
CONSPerformance management is a little lacking, and compensation plans and bonus plans aren't flexible to set up, they're pretty out of the box and don't account for (for example) quarterly bonuses and commission plans (i.e. inputting a number and getting at commission payout number based on a formula, then being able to automate that message from the HR system to the employee.Hob listing options are also a little lacking, especially with doing remote job offerings where we wanted to target certain regions around the world.

Ease of use for all our HR needs
We were impressed by the ease of use and implementation. It was an easy transition for our managers and employees and has impacted our HR processes for the better. We use the employee goals and feedback and this has helped us increase our employee satisfaction. The reporting system has been most useful for our accounting and payroll departments.

BambooHR is a software that I highly recommend as a recruiter for a company with over 5000 employees. This software is perfect for human resources management.
PROSI love all the features of BambooHR because it is a comprehensive software with many complete functionalities such as employee management, leave tracking, recruitment, and benefits administration. It has all the necessary features for effectively managing employee information.
CONSPersonally, I haven't found any feature that I don't like. Instead, I find it to be a comprehensive software for HR teams.

Streamlining HR Processes with BambooHR
I have found it to be a valuable tool that has significantly improved our HR processes. BambooHR's user-friendly interface and range of features have helped create a more organized and efficient work environment.
CONSThe mobile app's user interface could use some improvement. It's functional, but it felt less intuitive compared to the desktop version, which made it slightly less convenient to use on the go.

Amazing Customer Service, Always Looking to Improve
Overall we have really benefitted from Bamboo. I think the next big thing for Bamboo would be to offer a scheduling tool within the software. They partner with another company in this as an alternative, but I believe Bamboo could utilize their amazing innovation and forwarding thinking capabilities to create a great scheduling tool.
PROSWe love the customer service Bamboo provides. 90% of the time I have someone helping me within 2 minutes. And they always know the answer. If what I am wanting to do is not an option, they push it up the line and a group reviews these requests constantly. Bamboo is always looking to improve their product, which I appreciate and I want to be a part of a company that is always looking forward to the future's possibilities.
CONSOur main issue is with payroll. We would love to utilize it, but you can only have one tax ID. We have multiple tax IDs for multiple locations and employees cross over between them constantly. The work around was for us to have multiple Bamboo accounts to accommodate for the multiple tax IDs. But this is not cost efficient for us.

Bamboo for Childcare Business
We have noticed such a huge difference in our management of HR since implementing this system. There are tons of things that we are doing now that we would have never thought possible before using Bamboo.
PROSOur business truly benefits from being able to track due dates for trainings and documents. Because we are education, there are a ton of clearances, health forms, and professional development that must be completed. Keeping this all up to date has been done in the past on spreadsheets and not available to everyone to see. Now we can access this as admins and be able to verify things are being done when they are needed. We have also really enjoyed the integration of time tracking, to timesheets, to payroll. It has made our managers lives easier and saved a ton of time for them. it has also made everything seemless for me to run payroll and process benefits without thinking about it too much or taking multiple days to get it done.
CONSI feel like we would really benefit from a follow up training or someone to talk to. Kind of like implementation where someone would just check in to see if you could be using things better or differently to be more effective. We do reach out to support a ton and they are great!!

Worst HR Company Provider EVER!
Since moving to their new Payroll service (Trax Payroll) BambooHR has been in the business of keeping us from HR compliance and has made processing payroll much more time consuming and frustrating. All with a lack of professional and effective customer support. They have mishandled payroll taxes, W-2's and account access once we notified them of changing to a better HR management solution. This has truly been a nightmare that won't end.
PROSThe software does have some nice features like Performance Management.
CONSThe worst payroll software in history! Sold me a bill of goods that everything was integrated, however, they use a remote link which is clunky and extremely frustrating to use unless everything is "just right". Do your research - there is better out there along with excellent customer support. I had to manually add employee PTO each pay period as their system was not integrated with their Payroll software.

We didn't consider other alternatives as we were already using BambooHR for everything except Time Tracking and Payroll. This was a HUGE mistake on our part. We have now completed a change away from BambooHR after doing a complete review of alternative products. Much happier without the frustration of using their antiquated payroll system.

PROSThe software is secure, easy to use, and supports the functions of a small business without the corporate challenges of working with a larger HR services and payroll firm. The price is right, the support team is responsive, timely and professional. We were able to customize our instance of the software to the business needs.
CONSThe software is evolving and grows to meet client needs. When we began using this in 2016, there were areas which we needed that came online and now we use fully.

The BambooHR tool met our needs at a better rate, allowed us to manage our HR processes and the internal needs of our firm. We needed a tool which would support us as we grew, with payment plans that were adjustable and support that was timely, supportive and professional. Capterra Review of BambooHR
Bamboo has continuously communicated their software updates very effectively. I am very appreciative of this. Overall my experience has been very positive, from implementation onwards. I have been using the software for 6 years now. I wish the company would hold another in person user conference, rather than virtual however. Of the one that I attended, there is much to be said about in person interaction. It was by far one of the best user conferences I have ever attended. It was very disappointing to go virtual ( pre pandemic.)
PROSThe product is easy to implement , out of the box. The product is best for small to mid size companies, but especially if you have minimal processes to manage. The add on features of Performance and eNPS are simple to use and very effective. You can find workarounds for unique processes.
CONSAs a company continues to scale and grow, the incremental processes added become more difficult to manage with the system. A simple example is onboarding. Onboarding is only geared to true new hires. If you have an employee who is transferred to a new division within the organization and needs to be assigned new tasks that are well documented, the software does not have the ability to manage transfers. The ability to format a document for e-signature would be incredibly helpful. A little more flexibility in problem solving rather than simply suggesting to put suggestions on a future product launch list.

Middle of the road software that needs improvement
We are currently researching other HR software. I'm not sure which is better, software that contains the modules needed with obvious and crippling flaws or software that is easy to use both by admin and employees with limited modules.
PROSThe idea of on-boarding a new employee electronically is a huge plus. It engages employees before they start and makes it so that they come in with paperwork already filled out and spend their first day doing more than just paperwork. Most of the framework is in place, but EACH area needs improvement, both in the functionality for administration and the ease of use for employees. The sections offered are vital, but aren't complete.
CONSThe benefits area is lacking a lot of common sense tools - like the ability to attach plan documents to an insurance plan (only a link can be used), display plan cost information to an employee BEFORE they sign up (the pricing is only available AFTER they sign up and become eligible). Many things like this create double the amount of work for the administrator. The actual on-boarding process was a struggle because even though the forms were done properly by the employees (I sat with a few and watched them), it didn't save all information in completed fields. Employees were frustrated when they had to fill out forms multiple times because you cannot edit once saved. I love that employees can e-sign documents, but preparing the forms is cumbersome and they can't be customized easily. For instance, if you need to update a form because something has changed or didn't save properly, you have to delete the task and resend to any employees who need an updated form. When I discussed a few very basic items with support, they just offered a work around that many clients use. These are obvious flaws in the system that need to be addressed, but aren't necessarily a priority. Bamboo HR seems to focus more on flashy design than actual content. It makes them seem like a leader in the industry, but as soon as you dig in, the flaws are obvious. For the price, there needs to be more development in the software.

BambooHR literally has everything our company requires.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience; hiring and tracking new employees was a breeze. We use Learning Management System (LMS) and integrating the two is straightforward. The app is useful for tracking time and work hours, especially since most of us work abroad. And security is top notch. We store people's information here, and we like how BambooHR performs security checks and locks on its own when you are not in front of your computer.
PROSWe previously used Time Doctor to track our time and for payroll. However, as the company expanded. We want a system that allows us to track all employees from their assessment/ job application to their onboarding. We can even send new hire packets to get them prepared for the job. This includes what they needed to do on their first day, what documents they needed to submit, and who they should contact. It's also easy to track time off request and UPTOs. BambooHR can also be integrated with LMS tools such as TalentLMS. As a user, the app is very useful; seeing your timesheet hours and pay period, as well as the payroll reminder, is a great feature.
CONSThe training section of BambooHR is a little complicated, and adding new training and categories is done alphabetically. As a result, having your own training roadmap and guidelines causes everything to become jumbled. When we asked their support team for help in resolving the issue, they were able to help us by manually assigning a number to each category. Another thing is, marking each training category as complete must be done one at a time. It takes a lot of effort, but it works.
