Gem the key to my workflow
I love what Gem has meant to my productivity. I honestly don't understand it when people tell me they don't get it. I couldn't imagine doing my job without it. I would seriously consider quitting or finding another role within the company if Plaid ever told me they were nixing Gem.
PROSWhen I switched over to Gem 3 years ago, It eliminated about 3 additional tools from my process, thusly saving me time and brain power. I no longer have to leave a linkedIn profile to source and recruit effectively. The product also now has a very robust and powerful search function within their app that allows me to not even have to use LinkedIn for several days at a time. I can stay within gem.com and create custom automated messages that I know will sync well with my ATS for ease of mind in data integrity.
CONSThe design, both within the app and the widget, can be a bit "cumbersome;" however, I know that they have made some recent hires in that area and I have already seen some great improvements.
Reasons for switching to Gem
We haven't fully, there are still some folks using TF, but 95% of the recruiters and other members of the company that have used Gem once, switched over full time from TF.

Great Recruiting & Sourcing Tool!
Overall, Gem is a great tool for any company's recruiting stack. It's got a ton of features, great integrations, and they're backed by top tier VCs!
PROSI like that Gem has a strong database of email addresses that they verify, their reporting and analytics is very useful for identifying bottlenecks in the recruiting & sourcing process, reviewing top of funnel metrics for the team, and measuring template effectiveness when reaching out to candidates.
CONSI believe the user interface is a bit clunky and could honestly use a design make-over.
Reason for choosing Gem
Gem was just an all around better solution - had more capabilities and their email database was definitely more accurate! Gem's pricing was also aligned with what I was able to spend at an earlier stage start-up.
Reasons for switching to Gem
Resource.io was purchased by Gem, so I was moved over due to the acquisition.

I am loving GEM!
I have really enjoyed Gem and would highly recommend that you try it out! You can also create a dashboard of analytics on projects you create and on positions linked to your ATS which can really help to paint a picture for hiring teams.
PROSMy favorite thing about Gem is that it integrates with my ATS system as well as LinkedIn Recruiter. I am able to see if my colleagues have added a potential candidate to a project or reached out to them. Reaching out to the same candidates provides a bad experience. Gem uses personal email addresses which adds a personal touch when reaching out. I also love the fact that I can set up dates/times for messages to go out, 5 and 6 days after each message. This feature is customizable and the analytics prove that candidates will respond even on the third try. With Gem, you don't have to worry about anything, your email sequences are scheduled once you send out your first message. It's a wonderful tool that has helped me find great passive candidates for my roles.
CONSI would say there are many times where the email address is incorrect or is no longer in use. My solution to that is to send an introductory message through LinkedIn (only once) and then send the full sequence in Gem that way you are hitting both sides in case the individual does not have an email.

Greatest prospect outreach tool!
Since really diving into Gem back in September of 2021, I've found this to be such a great tool to use. The support we get from [SENSITIVE CONTENT] as well, is certainly very, WHITE GLOVE! I love everything Gem is and how impactful it's been in my day to day work.
PROSSome of the most helpful features for me when using Gem, is the data and analytics it provides. It's impressive how it can break down analytics based on stages in sequences, projects, and also gives you freedom to build custom reports, as needed (per recruiter, per job, timeline basis, etc).
CONSOne of the things I wish Gem did contain was the 'interested/not interested/reach out later' options in the project view. It has it in the sequence view, but not for projects. I find that this would be very helpful as sometimes there is a lot of people in a project that don't necessarily get added to a sequence as Gem was unable to populate an email for them; if that's the case, then I typically proceed to send this person an inMail or a connection request on LinkedIn along with a message. It would be good if we can track their responses in the project view as well to also see how many people IN TOTAL are responding, not responding, etc.

I love using Gem and their team!
Through my experience working with Gem I've been able to harness our recruiting data to allow is to make huge strides with our Diversity recruiting goals as well as uncover insights that help us re-organize and become a more efficient team. The team at Gem has been very helpful and I love partnering with them as they certainly have been committed to enabling us to achieve our goals.
PROSI love that it gives us the ability to track our recruiting efforts towards our Diversity goals. I also love how easy it is to automate sequences and email campaigns while also providing quantifiable data so we can continue to iterate on our strategies. Lastly, the reports are great to view recruiting pipeline health.
CONSWhenever I think of something that could be improved on the team is quick to help me find the solution. I really enjoy partnering with their CS team.

My workflow is much better now!
I love the ability to schedule emails/texts/inmails. I don't have to copy paste templates and manually type the special parts in. I just add the parts to my "Reason" or extras, and it's put in for me! I also really enjoy the ability to text candidates without having to copy summaries into my ATS.
PROSI LOVE the texting feature! It integrates with Greenhouse, so I can easily text candidates and it's automatically recorded in Greenhouse. I also love sequences and the ease of putting candidates into GEM and sending them personalized messages with little effort!
CONSThe extension sometimes struggles when you have a lot of tabs up, so I had to reduce my tab usage in order for it to function properly.

An All-in-One Talent CRM!
This tool was overwhelming to understand at first- but only because it has so many features! I really enjoy how this tool allows me to manage my candidates all in one place- projects, notifications, reminders, etc. I especially enjoy: 1. How the notifications allow me to stay on top of my candidate pipeline, and 2. The detail of all the data in the dashboards! I've really enjoyed building out customized dashboards that allow me to better understand my top of funnel + overall recruiting process.
CONSThis is not a con for Gem, but more for LinkedIn. I just wish the LI integration was better.

Access to data and keeping track of candidate outreach (sequences).
PROSGem makes it so easy to create projects and build talent pipelines using the Gem extension.
CONSI sometimes have issues with boolean searches not yielding results. A simple refresh usually does the trick
Reasons for switching to Gem
Eightfold wasn't very user friendly and the recruiting team didn't utilize it as a result.

GEM Review
I really enjoy the email sequences. It saves me time and help me organize my responses. I love that you have an AI component to capture responses that have an indication of interest. It would be excellent if that could be applied to candidates who are not interested. Saves time on updated the responses. I like the Prospect fields. Having the ability to view multiple projects and adjust the filters to meet a current role is KING!
CONSI just had one hiccup which was dealt with in an efficient and speedy fashion with customer support. Microsoft kept locking the account due to bulk messaging. The customer service rep responded to me immediately and gave me a resolution. Other than that, (and that wasn't any fault of GEM), everything is great!

Sam @ Shippo reviews Gem!
Overall, I think Gem is an amazing tool. It's become a critical part of my sourcing toolkit. I especially cannot driving significant hiring volume without using a tool such as this
PROSThe fact that I can email candidates directly on their personal emails, the email sequencing capabilities, the ATS integration, the granular analytics, the email templates (+ plug and play variables -- especially the {{reason}} variable), and the dashboard that I can use to monitor the product usage of my directs
CONSI wish the success rate and accuracy of the email scraping capabilities were closer to 100%. Sometimes the plug-in can be a bit buggy and unusuableSometimes candidate first and last names don;'t auto-populateI wish there was a clearer distinction (or I better understood) why to use Gem projects vs. LinkedIn RecruiterGiven how expensive LinkedIn Recruiter is and how tight the economy is at the moment, I wish there were more features and/or product design choices that make Gem a tool that can offer significant value even when not paired with a LinkedIn Recruiter seat

never want to work without Gem
I never want to work without Gem, I am a Sourcer and my aim is to reach out to as many candidates as possible. Gem is very user-friendly and helps me track myself easily. I love the Outreach stats section,
PROSsearch in the Prospects; email sequencing and automizing the outreach to candidates, being able to set up email sequence "on behalf of" hiring managers; the reports; finding the emails of candidates works pretty well; customer support is excellent and quick; love the brochures
CONSIt is not possible to download the candidate list or change the status of candidates who are in my team mates' sequence (in case of holidays this would be useful). I would make the Columns in Sequences adjustable, like in Projects, but it is not a dealbreaker.Just an idea: would be great if I could be able to rank candidates (prospects) on a given email sequence or project e.g. Tier 1, Tier 2 (based on how much they match the job requirements).

My only must have tool outside of LinkedIn Recruiter and an ATS
I like how you can set up drip email campaigns and even thought sending inmails is manual, it's much better to remind you when you have to send that follow up(2nd, 3rd) whereas before it would be a one and done.
CONSI'm curious to explore more about the pipeline/stage analystics connected with Greenhouse

Gem - A Manager's Perspective
Gem was always the sourcing tool I wished I had when I was an individual contributor. As a manager, it is important that my team has the best tools to be competitive, to be successful, and to have fun with the job. Gem allows my team to source without feeling like they are limited by their tools. As a manager, Gem allows me to examine the top of the funnel and report back to the business in ways that ATS reporting just can't provide.
CONSI would like to understand why sourcers love it, but recruiters don't seem to adopt so easily.
