PROS

It is easy to use, and we have also linked multiple locations together.

CONS

I would like to be able to track our consumables in greytrunk. A way to scan a consumable item, enter a quantity, scan again to confirm the quantity, and then remove it from inventory. Also, when the quantity is low, Grey Trunk creates a shopping list and sends out a notification to restock.

Reason for choosing Grey Trunk RFID

It was easier to setup and the staff at Greytrunk worked hard to accommodate our needs.

Great for small government assets

PROS

The ease of use allows us to check machines in and out from polling locations on the mobile app and/or using the dashboard on their website. I'm able to have multiple mobile devices logged in on our busiest days of the year, and it makes everything run so much smoother. The accountability is so important in this industry, and Grey Trunk is the perfect solution.

CONS

I'm not a fan of the limited customization for locations and the reports we receive daily. Scrolling through locations is difficult, at times, on a mobile device. If those populated as you typed the name or in alphabetical order, the time spent searching would decrease tremendously.

Price and ability to work through a Cloud. We originally looked at antenna features for doorways to track locations in the building, but the costs were too much for a mid-sized county government agency.

It has been great to implement in our company to have more accountability for our products and transparency of how much we spend.

PROS

It is easy to implement and sell to my team.

CONS

The mobile app is difficult to use. It crashes all the time, the button layout is too much, and there are too many options that the admin should be able to limit.

Wonderful product!

We have been very happy with the service we have received from Grey Trunk. This is the best product I have found for RFID physical inventory. I spent about 6 months researching different options and we chose Grey Trunk for the ease of use, use of common equipment and customer service. They are very easy to contact and are quick to respond to questions.

PROS

This system is easy to use whether you are using the free account or transition to the paid account. We have over 6,000 assets and were able to quickly convert our data to use this system. The uploads of data were very quick and when we had an error, the messages were easy to understand and correct. Once our data was in the system, we were able to immediately begin updating and adding new assets. We have a variety of people using the system, with different skills sets, and everyone has been able to complete their tasks.

CONS

The only thing we have found that proved slightly difficult was during the uploading of data - the date field in the spreadsheet has to be a text field and has to be dd/mm/yyyy format. Excel doesn't work well with dates in text and the format was a bit of a challenge. I called Grey Trunk and they were able to assist with walking us through how we needed to format the column to get the data to upload.

We chose Grey Trunk for the customer service we received during the research process, use of common equipment (we use iPad minis for our computing device), and ease of use for our end-users.

Reasons for switching to Grey Trunk RFID

We switched to Grey Trunk for the RFID capabilities. Our old system was barcode and took forever to complete a full physical inventory. With Grey Trunk, we feel we can complete the inventory in half the time (or less).

I would like to see a report for all items/tools transferred to a certain location/site over a certain time frame.

Great Product and Great Service. Highly recommend!

Very good customer service. We consulted with a partner school who was already using Grey Trunk and this was the main selling point. We are a very busy office, managing all the purchasing, inventory, receiving and mail for our campus. We deal with every single vendor the campus engages with. We always remember the vendors who are great as well as the ones we would rather not work with again. Grey Trunk is excellent to work. Responsive, helpful, flexible, timely.

PROS

Grey Trunk is very easy to use and implement. Having the option to use at a desktop or via mobile device is key. This product also falls into the KISS method (keep it simple stupid) for us. We use a huge ERP system for accounting, human resource management and campus solution management; Grey Trunk is an easy way to get the job done without the cumbersomeness of the ERP.

CONS

The only complaint at this point is the ability to search by more fields including those we create ourselves. Many of our end users only keep track of stuff by the budget or PO they bought something off. Being able to search by the custom field we created for the PO number would help us be able to answer their questions more quickly.

Great Product for tracking our inventory

PROS

We are really happy that we have fond Grey Trunk. Not only is the platform easy to use, the support we have received has been excellent.

CONS

This feels like a software that is in the early stages of its development. We like where it is headed and look forward to its evolution.

Great Assett Tracking Software

Very easy to use, the support department was great on helping up integrate all of our data.

PROS

The software makes it easy to located equipment in our multiple practices.

CONS

If there was a way to alert when a piece of equipment has been sent for repair a certain amount of times. We manually have to look at the data we enter currently.

Great Value with impressive functionality

PROS

Asset tracking is easily accomplished utilizing cell phones. Training users is fast and easy.

CONS

Basic reporting is easily accomplished but in some instances more detailed reporting is not available.

Quick startup

Super happy so far. Finding we have a lot more equipment and a lot more $$ of equipment than we thought. While getting things entered in the database in we "found" a bunch of equipment that we had misplaced or forgotten about. Already paying for itself!

PROS

It was super easy to get started. We have most of our equipment listed on spreadsheets so upload feature made it easy to get initial startup going. The flexible optional fields made it quick to add data that makes managing our equipment much easier.

CONS

We're just getting started but the number and types of reports are limited.

Great for Small Businesses with Inventory Needs

As a small, fine arts auction house, we have a high volume of expensive rotating inventory that we needed to keep track of at all times, and be able to find quickly. Our previous inventory system had a very high factor of human error, so it could not keep up with our demands. We spoke with many RFID companies prior to choosing Grey Trunk, but all other companies were planning on charging us 10x what Grey Trunk costs for essentially the same services. Grey Trunk's customer service from the very start has been incredible, and it is always a pleasure to work with them. They have made our inventory system 100x times more effect, resulting in a higher productivity than was achievable before. Highly recommend for small businesses that don't need to keep track of thousands and thousands of items, but still require a quality inventory system.

PROS

We love that there is an RFID option for small businesses, and the customer service during setup and beyond has always been of the highest quality.

CONS

Not as much high-tech optimization as some bigger RFID companies, but also FAR more economical.

Affordable RFID Asset Tracking

Going from using barcode asset tags to RFID so this was a great low-cost option for us to use why we made the transition. Customer support site was good with lots of videos for us to get going and had a lot of nice reporting and alert features that higher priced systems offer.

PROS

Grey Trunk actually delivered on its advertising of being able to use RFID to track assets. We are a small school but manage a number of I.T. assets and wanted a solution where we could quickly inventory lots of items without having to hunt for a barcode. The software worked great and for the price point beat a lot of barcode only asset tracking products that we were looking at as we were transitioning to using RFID.

CONS

The user interface has few limitations when viewing large lists of assets that could be improved but not a deal breaker. Ability to add fields to custom reports would be nice but I understand that is coming in the next release.

GreyTrunk Inventory Software

Very positive experience overall. The value for money for a smaller operation is fantastic. That starts going down with the more assets you have, but it is a great way to build a system from the ground up. We ended up not using the RFID function due to the amount of assets we have and the costs of each label over standard barcoodes.

PROS

Very easy to use software with no additional hardware required out of the box. The GreyTrunk rep that I dealt with also put me in touch with their preferred label making company to make the ordering process that much easier. The optical scanner function for barcodes works reasonably well with a higher quality smartphone camera.

CONS

Payment had to be done through Paypal at the time. The photos that are taken with inventory on some Android phones has significantly less quality and smaller dimensions than an iPhone upload when viewing on a PC.

Great asset tracking for small businesses

We have increased our awareness of units moving throughout the office and warehouse. Additionally, this asset tracking has greatly improved our financial and logistical auditing.

PROS

I love the the ease of use of this software system. The compatible mobile phone apps make check in/ out of devices fairly easy. I use this product to track hardware units through the manufacturing, production and RMA. The system is simple and too the point. Easy to use interface.

CONS

One thing I would like to see is customization of the displayed fields in the frontend. Fields are fully customizable for assets, but the default displayed information is not changeable.

Grey Trunk is great software.

With Grey trunk RFID I have been able to create and maintain a log of which foreman has what tools and equipment they are responsible for. I can at any time scan my warehouse and know what equipment I have available for use.

PROS

I like the ease of use between the site and the app on my phone. The fact that I can bluetooth the reader to most any device makes the spectrum broader of who can keep inventory at each site if needed.

CONS

It is difficult to get a picture to download on the app.
